Compteur horaire.
Time meter. The subject of the invention is an hour meter, the movement of which is controlled by a mass capable of effecting a movement: of oscillation under the effect. of its inertia or jolts.
This counter is characterized in that the oscillating mass drives the cog of the counter movement, by means of a snap-fit and a maintenance spring which can only accumulate a very small quantity of potential energy, so that the stopping and restarting of the movement takes place approximately: = simultaneously with the stopping and of the oscillating weight.
The attached drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows in plan the movement of the counter except for certain usual organs of no importance for the understanding of the invention; lia fig. 2 is a cross section, roughly along line 11-11 of fi-. 1.
The movement shown comprises a round frame comprising a plate 3 and bridges. In the middle of the frame is arranged a large wheel 4 which controls as usual the minute hand and the hour hand by means of a timer. Neither these organs, nor the mechanism -de mi nuterie are shown in the drawing. The wheel 4 -conducts the pinion 5 of an escapement wheel 6, by means of two moving parts comprising the pinion 7 and the small medium wheel ô, as well as the pinion 9 and the second wheel 10. The meter does not have a motor cylinder. The wheel 10 is wedged on the axis of the pinion 9 of the seconds.
On this axis is fixed a ferrule 11 and loose mounted a toothed wheel 12 carrying a pin 13. This pin passes through the wheel 10, between the arms of the latter and can act on the end of a spring. maintenance 1.1 formed by a flexible steel blade attached to. the. ferrule 11. The wheel 12 engages in a toothed gear 15 wedged, as does a ratchet wheel 16 on the axis 17, on which the mass 18 freely sorrel. </ B > The latter can oscillate freely on the axis 17 whose pivots are adjusted, one in plate 3. and the other in a bridge 20. In the teeth of the ratchet wheel are engaged an impulse pawl 21 fixed to the mass 18, and a retaining pawl 22.
A return spring 23, acting on an ear 18 ′ of the mass, always tends to maintain this mass in an approximately horizontal middle position when the meter is carried in the pocket, the pendant at the top.
As soon as the wearer of the meter begins to walk, the. mass starts to oscillate in synchronicity with the -cadence -du pitch, which has the effect that the impulse pawl 21 advances the ratchet wheel 16 to one tooth. cha that direct alternation, against the return spring 23, of the mass, the retro-grade alternation of the latter, activated by the return spring, being inoperative on the .chet wheel. This ratchet wheel then turns the axle 17, the return 15 and the toothed wheel 12, so that the pin 13 acts on the maintenance spring 14, which causes the departure -of the exhaust and the setting. in motion.
The maintenance spring constitutes an elastic transmission member and shock absorber, transforming the intermittent or jerky movement of the wheel 12 into a smooth continuous rotational movement. However, the potential energy of the spring 14 is very low, so that the movement stops immediately after stopping the oscillating mass.
To facilitate the reading of the duration of the walk, the wearer of the counter will reset the hands to zero, when leaving for an excursion or a walking trip, a prolonged sports walk, etc., (the so that the hands will mark at. each instant the effective running time, that is to say under deduction of the stopping or rest times.
The counter can be used for civil, military and sporting purposes, for the time control - of marches, contests and competitions of pedestrian races.
When the counter is intended for the time control of accelerated marches or pedestrian races, it is important that at least one of the transmission components or moving parts situated between the oscillating mass and the exhaust. either driven by soft friction or by. friction, to prevent excess tension from the maintenance spring. This arrangement could be achieved, for example, by means of a soft friction adjustment of the wheel to, rock 16 on its axis 17, which adjustment will be appropriate to the reaction force of the maintenance spring.
