Single-acting piston machine with cross head. The invention relates to single-acting piston machines which have a reciprocating crosshead connected to the crank by the connecting rod. Usually the piston rod is rigidly connected to both the piston and the cross head in such machines. It has shown, however, that due to the immovable union of the piston, the piston rod and the cross head, inevitable rotary vibrations of the cross head made possible by the clearance in the cross head guide lead to a rotation of the piston within the cylinder path, whereby the wear of the Zy linder career is excessively increased.
In a single-acting piston machine with a cross head, and a piston rod rigidly connected to the piston at one end, according to known proposals, a cross head for use by an extension of the piston rod, which can be made in one piece with the same or attached therein, passes through is and for this purpose has a channel receiving the extension, the width of which exceeds the diameter of the piston rod extension so far that it has all-round leeway, which allows a small torsional oscillation movement of the cross head at the lower end of the piston rod without going through here the wall of the bore hits the extension. That way.
trained cross head is connected to the piston rod by a joint with two concentric spherical surface pairs, which allows a relative oscillation between the cross head and piston rod in all views around a common center, namely the two spherical surface pairs are each arranged on both sides of the cross head body, with the concave spherical surfaces are firmly connected to the piston rod and the convex spherical surfaces on the cross head are fixed, and both pairs of surfaces are the same size.
According to the present invention, the two pairs of spherical surfaces are provided concentrically to each other on both sides of the cross head and the crank-side pair of spherical surfaces has smaller surface dimensions than the piston-side pair of spherical surfaces, so that the rotary movement of the cross head can take place with low frictional resistance and on a small area of the crank-side Piston rod end is limited.
The cross head lies on the crank side with a relatively small concave spherical surface against a corresponding convex spherical surface of the piston rod, while on the piston side the larger convex spherical surface of the cross head interacts with a corresponding concave spherical surface of the piston rod.
It has been shown that with such an articulated connection of the cross head with the piston rod, the cross head can oscillate freely with respect to the piston rod even under full load, that such oscillations of the cross head are transferred to the piston at most to an insignificant extent, and that this causes wear between the piston attached to the other end of the piston rod and the cylinder path is considerably less.
As embodiments of the subject invention, a standing piston machine is shown in vertical section in the drawing.
A vertical cylinder 1 with a cylinder liner 2 sits on the frame 3 with the bearings 4 and 5 for the crankshaft 6. On the frame 3, a guide 7 is provided parallel to the cylinder axis, on which a cross head 8 slides. The piston 9 is fitted in the cylinder. At the top, the piston rod 10 is rigidly attached to the piston with a disk 11 in a manner not shown and at the bottom a bolt 12 is screwed into the bore 13 of the piston rod, which forms an extension of the piston rod which passes through the cross head 8. The latter carries the pivot pins 14 and 15, which are encompassed by the fork ends 16 and 17 of the push rod 18, which engages at the bottom with the head 19 on the crank pin 20 of the crankshaft 6.
The cross head 8 be sitting in the middle of a bore 21 which is larger than the outer diameter of the Bol zens 12, so that the cross head can perform small rotary oscillatory movements. The cross head 8 is held with a socket 22 between the piston rod and a socket 23 on the bolt 12 by means of a nut 24, and the socket 23 of the bolt 12, the cross head 8 and the socket 22 can be mounted on the bolt 12 by means of the nut 24 are pressed together. The piston rod 10 and the socket 22, as well as the cross head 8 and the socket 23 touch each other with a spherical surface 25 respectively. 26. The spherical surface 26 of the cross head on the crank side is concave, the spherical surface 25 of the socket 23, so the cross head spherical surface on the piston side is convex.
The pair of spherical surfaces 26 on the crank side is considerably smaller than the pair of spherical surfaces 25 on the piston side. The centers of the two pairs of spherical surfaces coincide at one point on the piston rod axis.
The lubrication lines 27 and 28 lead pressure oil between the cooperating spherical surfaces 25 respectively. 26 of parts 10 and 22 respectively. 8 and 23.
