Trois formes d'exécution de l'objet -de l'invention sont représentées, à titre d'exem ples, dans les .dessins annexés, .dans lesquels: Fig. 1 est une vue schématique en éléva tion, en coupe transversale, de la première forme d'exécution appliquée à une chaudière de chauffage central; Fig. 2 est une coupe longitudinale en élévation de cette même forme d'exécution; Fig. 3 montre, en coupe, une vue schéma tique -de la deuxième forme d'exétution; Fig. 4 montre un détail en vue partielle;
(fig.
Heating appliance operating on very small caliber fuels. The subject of the invention is a heating apparatus operating with the aid of very small caliber fuels; for example of the order of 5-10 mm and less. I1 is characterized in that it has a trough. non-perforated bottom, intended for.
contain a bed of fuel, fed by gravity with the aid of a distributor arranged above the trough, and also having an insufflation device comprising passages through which the primary air of combustion, under pressure, is seen in the bed, in the direction of the bottom of the trough.
The insufflation device may consist of at least one group of passages arranged on at least one level, these passages being combined with water cooling up to the vicinity of their outlet ends.
The fuel distributor may comprise a nozzle adjusted to maintain a layer of fuel of the order of a few centimeters above the overpasses -d'air injection.
Three embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the appended drawings,. In which: FIG. 1 is a schematic elevational view, in cross section, of the first embodiment applied to a central heating boiler; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of this same embodiment; Fig. 3 shows, in section, a schematic view of the second embodiment; Fig. 4 shows a detail in partial view;
Fig. to and 6 show, respectively in section along â-5 of fi-, 6 and in longitudinal section, the third embodiment -d'execution applied to a boiler: central heating; Fia. 7 and 8 show, respectively in side view and in-section through 8-8. Of FIG. 7, a variant of an insufflation device.
In fig. 1 and 2, the boiler, which may be circular, rectangular or other, comprises a water chamber 1 and a fireplace chamber 2. The chamber 2 is connected to the chimney by a duct 20 provided with a re register 200.
In this hearth chamber 2 are placed two water walls 3 and a non-perforated plate 24, which constitutes a trough 4 intended to receive a bed of fuel. The water walls 3 limit, on the other hand, air chambers 5.
The walls of water 3 are interposed, by nozzles 6 and 7, in the water circuit of the boiler, so as to be traversed by water at the lowest temperature.
Between the air chambers 5 and the trough 4 are formed air passages 8 and 9, having a cylindrical shape, but which could obviously receive .d'other shapes, for example conical, flattened or other.
The air passages 8 and 9 are provided at different levels and have different passage sections but all are inclined so as to send the combustion air in the direction of the bottom of the trough.
The air chambers 5 are interconnected at 10 and supplied with compressed air supplied by a duct 11 which is connected to a fan 12 driven by an electric motor 13. In other embodiments, the chambers 5 could to be connected. to any other source of pressurized air, then provided with a flow shutter member.
A valve: adjustment 14 is provided on the .conduit 11 to modify the passage section thereof.
The internal faces 15 of the water walls 3 are somewhat inclined so that the trough 4 widens slightly downwards, and its faces 15 have guides 16 which will be discussed later. .
In the hearth chamber 2, above the trough 4, opens a fuel distributor nozzle 17 which, as can be seen, is elongated along the large dimension of the trough 1-, but has however a length less dre that the latter. The nozzle -distributor 17 is connected by a conduit 18, of sec- tien. relatively large, to a fuel hopper 19 placed at the top of the boiler.
At the lower part, this duct 18 carries a rotary shutter 18.
There is also a thermostat 20 and a thermometer 21, the thermostat controlling a switch 22 of the supply circuit 23 of the electric motor 13.
If the rooms. 5 were supplied with compressed air by a source other than the fan 12, the thermostat 20 would control the flow shutter member of this source.
The lower closing plate 24 of the trough 4 can be slid on the lower guides 16: of: faces 15, above the usual ashtray 25, while a plate 26 (fig. 4) can be engaged on the guides 16 higher, its usefulness being defined further.
In the embodiment, shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, 1 and 2 also designate the water chamber and the hearth chamber. Chamber 2 is connected to the chimney by a duct 20 provided with a register 200.
This chamber 2 has a trough 30 whose sides, as well as the bottom, are formed of solid sheet metal but which could be formed by water walls, connected in the water circuit of the boiler, such as those designated by 3 in: fig. 1 and 2. The sides of the trough 30 are relatively very sloping, substantially following the natural slope of the coal, an inclination of about 450 suitable for fuel of a caliber of 5-10 mm.
The bottom of the trough is: one piece with the sides, but it could be made up of a removable piece released by: longitudinal sliding.
On the perimeter of the trough, free spaces are provided for the supply of secondary combustion air.
Above and at some distance from the bottom, the trough '3 is placed the insufflating device consisting of a conduit 8 of pear-shaped section, provided with a passage 800 and surrounded by a casing 8000, the intermediate space 80000, divided into two compartments communicating with each other at one end, constituting the water chamber.
The end of the duct 8 is connected by a duct 11, provided with a closure member 14, to the delivery of a fan 12 controlled by an electric motor 13, under the control of a thermostat 20 and a switch 22, as in the first embodiment.
Ira. water chamber is connected, via conduits 35 and 36, in the boiler water circuit, the outlet connecting to the general hot water outlet pipe, 28. It could however be part of a separate water circuit. The water therefore circulates in opposite directions in the two compartments constituting the water chamber.
The -insufflation device can also be constituted as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8. In this device, the air is brought through a duct 29, provided with a lower slit 29, through which the air escapes and passes through two lateral passages and directed obliquely downwards, 8, formed between a lower duct 30 and two upper ducts 31 and contiguous to the duct 2,9, the ducts 30 and 31 being connected to a box 32 traversed by the duct 29 and the ducts 31 being connected to a box 33 crossed by sealed manner by the conduit 30 and provided with a connector 34.
The box 32 is arranged so as to avoid any vapor chamber and a conduit 32 connects, for this purpose, this box 32 to the connector 34.
A welded joint is formed between the conduits 29 and 31, and the cooling water circulates by entering through the conduit 30 and evacuating through the conduits 31 and 1a. box 33.
In the hearth chamber 2, above the insufflation device, there is provided a fuel distributor nozzle 17, elongated along the large dimension of the trough 4, the distributor 17, provided with a 'rotary obtu ration 18, receiving' the fuel from a supply duct 18 of relatively wide cross section connected to a hopper -the feed 19 above the boiler. A thermometer 21 is mounted on the boiler.
The operation is understood as follows: The hopper 19 being loaded with very small caliber fuel, for example in good anthracite tank 5-10 mm or less, this fuel descends by gravity the distributor pipe 17 and forms a bed in the trough formed by the water walls 3 and the plate 24 (fig. 1 and 2) or the trough 3 (fig. 5 and 6),
this bed rising to a height exceeding by a few centimeters, for example 2 to 10 centimeters, the outlets of the upper air passages 8 (fig. 1 and 2) or the passages 8 (fig. 5 and 6).
Combustion being then initiated, the electric motor 13 is started and the air passing through 8. (fig. 1 and 2) or 8 (fig. 5 and 6-) generates the formation of centers in the vicinity of these passages. very active in the combustion and gasification of the fuel, while the rest of the bed slowly ignites more or less markedly, the combustion of the gases formed continuing above the bed,
partially using the excess air passing through 8 or 8 and partially using the air passing through 9 (fig. 1 and 2) or the circumference of the trough 3 (fig. 5 and 6).
In the form of execution shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the secondary air inlets through the passages 9 are intended in particular to ensure the combustion of the fuel which may have passed through, without being completely consumed, the zone of the combustion and gasification centers of the passages. 8, but they may in fact not. be essential, as they can also form more or less active centers of combustion and gasification.
The combustion products escape to the chimney through the duct 2, the register 2 of which is adjusted to allow this passage.
When the temperature of the water in the boiler reaches that for which the ther mostat 20 is set, the latter operates to release the switch 22, and to stop the motor 13 and the air blowing.
Under these conditions, the activity of the combustion and gasification centers gives way to a slow combustion, ensured by the very low draft maintained by the small section of the duct 2 left free by the register 2, the air - combustion flue passing through the fan, the duct 11, the chambers 5 and the passages 8 and 9 in FIGS. 1 and 2 or 8 in fig. 5 and 6.
This slow combustion regime continues as long as the boiler water temperature does not drop below. from that for which ther mostat 20 has been set.
Once this limit is reached, the thermostat activates the switch 22, starting the motor 13 and the fan 12, by resetting in a very short time the activity of the combustion and gasification centers.
Due to the nature of the coals used and: the high temperatures achieved,: clinker can form, clinker which is easily eliminated. In the embodiment es fig. 1 and 2, for this purpose, use is made of the plate 26, serrated at its front edge, or any other member of the same type which, after closing the supply shutter 18, is engaged in the bed -of fuel by sliding it on the guides. 16 upper, as shown in broken lines in fig. 2.
The clinker is thus either lifted, which allows it to be easily removed through the usual loading opening, or broken and dragged into the free part 27, provided such by the feed, and can be easily transferred to the ashtray 25 by bringing back the plate 24 a little.
If, simultaneously with the scrubbing, it was necessary to evacuate the ashes which may have accumulated on this plate 24, it would suffice to remove and: re-engage the latter before removing the plate 26.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 5 and 6, the clinker that can form is located next to each air jet of the device: insufflation, but thanks to the fact that the arrival of: fuel is on the same side of the clinker as the air inlet, the fresh fuel is always supplied to the air passage zones, so that the inflation pressure should not be changed as the corn grows, and the com bustion remains regular whatever the period of operation without scrubbing.
The fan used can therefore be, all things being equal, of very low power.
The clinker is very easily removed from. using pliers or any other means by. normal fireplace loading door.
In the embodiment: FIGS. 1 and 2, the water walls 3 and the chambers 5 are part of the construction of the fireplace chamber 2, but -in another embodiment, the walls 3, the chambers 5, the passages 8 - and 9, the conduits 10 and the fittings could be established in a separate assembly suitable for adapting to existing fireplaces,
the fuel supply duct 17 being able to penetrate into the hearth chamber 2 through the usual loading door, or even through the upper part of the boiler.
In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the organization: of the hearth chamber 2 is similar to that of the figures. previous ones, with the difference that the faces 15: of the water walls 3i which form the trough 4 have a double step, thereby reducing the width of the bed at the passages 9 and pro curant guides. 16 for plates 24 and 26.
Reducing the width of the. lower part of the bed tends to prevent the fuel from passing through the area of the passages 8 without being consumed therein and making it possible to reduce the section and the number of passages 9, and even to eliminate them.
The chambers 5 are, in this embodiment, reduced to conduits mounted in the: walls: of water 3.
Simultaneously with passages such as 8 and 9, one could, if desired, also provide nozzles for introducing secondary combustion air opening out above the upper level: of the fuel bed.
In one embodiment applied to an ordinary heating fireplace, the thermostate 20, instead of being influenced by the temperatures of the boiler water, would be influenced by the temperatures of the space to be heated. heat.
