Schleifscheiben auftretenden Be anspruchungen besitzen.

Grinding wheel. The invention relates to a rotating abrasive body of rigid nature with a cell structure, which is made of abrasive material, such as carborundum, corundum and the like and binders be.
The abrasive article according to the invention is characterized in that it has artificially created cavities, the cells are larger than the existing abrasive grains and that the number and size of the artificially created cells are such that the total volume of all cavities in the cells evenly interspersed grinding body mass is at least 50%, preferably 60 to 80%, of this cell interspersed grinding body volume.
When using coarser abrasive grains, the diameter of the cells can be, for example, three times, five times, ten times, etc. the diameter of the abrasive grain; When using fine-grained to powdery abrasive material, the diameter of the cells can be a hundred to a thousand times and more than the diameter of the abrasive grain. It is expedient for the grinding body to be designed in such a way that it penetrates the artificially created cavities of the same or approximately the same size arrangement in as uniform a distribution as possible.
The abrasive body can either be completely penetrated by cells, the distribution of the cells should be as uniform as possible, but it can also be designed so that only certain parts have the cell structure. For example, grinding wheels can be manufactured in such a way that the outer ring zone (working zone) has a cell structure and the inner core zone surrounding the axis of rotation is solid, with the solid part having a certain natural porosity.
The grinding bodies produced according to the invention have the advantage that they are relatively very light due to the large cavity volume, that they offer less cause for undesirable heating of the workpiece and grinding wheel due to the predominance of the cavities over the solid mass, and that they are very resistant against those in rapid circulation of. Have grinding wheels occurring demands. Another advantage of the new grinding wheels is that they develop excellent effects due to the formation of a large number of cutting edges evenly distributed over the work surface, and that these effects are retained when the grinding wheels wear off naturally.
Clogging and smearing of the grinding bodies do not take place, as grinding chips penetrating into the artificially created cavities on the work surface are ejected like the. As a result, materials such as leather, cork, soft metals and the like can also be treated with excellent success.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the grinding bodies are designed in such a way that the cells form a coherent system in such a way that the individual cells are connected to the neighboring cells through openings. The like grinding wheel still offer the particular advantage; that they allow an easy supply of coolants.
Inorganic and organic substances or substances of both types can be used to bond the abrasive material, in particular the known ceramic binders. Suitable binders include: plaster of paris, cement, synthetic resins. The solidification can take place by setting, drying, burning, chemical effects and similar measures.
The proportions of abrasive material and binder can be selected, for example, so that there are around 20 to 70 parts of binder for every 100 parts of abrasive material.
The grinding wheels can be manufactured using various methods. One can, for example, proceed in such a way that substances are incorporated into the mass made from grinding material and binding agent which are capable of developing gas bubbles in the plastic mass before it solidifies through the action of water, salt solutions or other substances. As gas-forming substances, for example, powdery aluminum, calcium, magnesium, calcium carbide, ammonium carbonate, calcium carbonate and the like come into consideration. Compounds containing active oxygen, such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium peroxide, alkali perborate, alkali percarbonate and the like, have proven particularly suitable.
By decomposition of, for example, hydrogen peroxide by heat or decomposition catalysts, such as metals, for example copper, metal compounds, for example manganese dioxide, organic catalases and the like, one can achieve a uniform development and distribution of the oxygen bubbles in the mass. A particularly uniform development and distribution of the oxygen bubbles can be achieved, as has been found, by bringing into action chemically acting substances such as permanganate, alkali hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite and the like on hydrogen peroxide, alkali peroxide and the like.
It has also been shown that the development of gas with regard to the number and size of the gas bubbles can still largely be influenced by adding suitable agents, for example those that influence the Zersetzungge speeds and / or those that change the surface tension capital. Soapy water has proven to be particularly suitable for this.
It is sufficient to add a relatively small amount of a very dilute, for example only 0.5%, soap solution to achieve the desired effects. Similar effects can be achieved. by adding saponins, albumins, gum arabic, colloidal earths and the like substances it is aimed. The effect of these additives can also be improved by adding auxiliaries, such as alkalis or ammonia, the amount of which can be easily adapted to the respective conditions, preferably in very small amounts.
Another method for creating the cavities penetrating the grinding wheel consists in incorporating bodies into the masses used to manufacture the grinding wheels, which after partial or complete solidification of the grinding wheel are removed again by measures such as loosening, melting out, evaporation can.
For example, balls made of sugar, soluble salts and the like can be incorporated into the mixture of abrasive material and binding agent in an even distribution and the balls can be removed again after the compound has hardened using suitable solvents such as water, or balls made from naphthalene can be added to the compound or similar substances exist, incorporate and remove them again from the solidified body by melting or evaporation.
An important embodiment is that the shape is first filled with the balls, then the spaces between the balls are filled, for example by introducing a flowing mixture of abrasive material and binding agent and the mass is then solidified. After the balls have been loosened, grinding bodies then remain whose cavities have connection openings at the points where the balls have touched. This facilitates the loosening, melting out or evaporation of the balls, while on the other hand, grinding wheels produced in this way keep cool during the grinding process.
In some cases it has proven to be advantageous to subject the abrasive articles produced according to the invention to an aftertreatment in order to increase their strength, hardness, resistance, etc., for example in such a way that they are coated with paints, resins, synthetic resins, aqueous rubber dispersions, rubber solutions, Soaked with glue, shellac, water glass or the like and then subjected to a suitable treatment, such as drying, heating, vulcanizing and the like, for example.
When using additives drifting due to the formation of gas, one can work towards a desired cavity volume in a simple manner by appropriate measurement of the amount or strength of these additives.
The grinding bodies produced according to the invention can be used for the treatment of the most diverse materials, such as, for example, metals, metal alloys, ceramic materials, quartz, synthetic materials, wood. Cork, leather and the like used who. Examples: 1. A mixture of 140 grams of fused corundum, grain No. 90, 60 grams of clay and 110 milligrams of aluminum powder is made into a paste with 60 cm of water. After stirring in 10 cm 'of a 2.5% strength glue solution, 5 cm' of a 5% strength NaOH solution are added. The homogeneous pulp is deformed and "goes" into the forms left to themselves.
After drying, the molding is made ready for the oven and fired at a suitable temperature.
2. First prepare the following two mixes <I> (a </I> and <I> b) </I> separately: For: mix a 30 g "Klingenberger" clay with 3 g lime squeeze sand, smaller than DIN -20 (German industrial norm) dry-mixed after the sand was previously prepared with 20 cm 'of a 5% benzene paraffin solution. The Ge mixture is mixed with 40 cm 'of water and after thorough work, 70 g of fused corundum, grain No. 80, are entered.
To produce the mixture b, 30 grams of "Klingenberger" clay are mixed with 25 cm of water and 10 cm 'of a 2.5% strength glue solution. Then 2, a 'hydrochloric acid (conc.) Are added; Finally, as in the case of a mixture of 70 grams of molten corundum, grain No. 80 are entered. The finished mixtures <I> a </I> and <I> b </I> are then quickly mixed together, placed in the molds and left to "walk", that is, to go to the hustle and bustle.
In 2 kg of glue solution (2 parts of glue, 3 parts of water) 110 cm 30% H 2 O 2 are added and 5 kg lead glass powder moistened with 750 cm water are added with stirring . After the addition of the catalyst, for example 25 grams of manganese dioxide suspended in 250 cm 'of water, the evolution of gas begins, in the course of which 5 kg of abrasive material (for example silicon carbide, corundum, flint and similar powders) are stirred in. The still warm mass is shaped, dried and heated until the binding agent sintered.
4. 160 gr water glass of 36 'Bé who is diluted with 10 cm of water and then stirred with 5 cm' of hydrogen peroxide (30%). Then will. 600 g silicon carbide grain No. 30, stirred in. To the homogeneous mass, a slurry of 2 grams of manganese dioxide powder in 5 cm 'water glass of 36 Bé is intimately stirred. The mass is then deformed and left to drift. After suitable drying and further treatment, for example dressing, if necessary soaking with solidifying solutions such as Bakelite, and making it resistant to water, the wheel is ready for use.
5. 300 grams of clay are mixed with 1000 grams of silicon carbide, grain no. 80 and then made into a paste with .280, <B> cm '</B> water and 50 cm' of a 2.5% cement solution. Now 7.5 cm of hydrogen peroxide 30% and a manganese dioxide slurry are made. from 5 cm 'water and 500 mgr brownstone, stirred in homogeneously. The mass is poured onto it, allowed to float in the mold, dried and, after any preparation, fired at a suitable temperature.
6. 330 grams of carborundum no. 46 with a volume of approximately 0.01 mm '(sieved through a sieve of 46, X 46 meshes per square inch) with about 60! gr Bakelite coated by soaking the grain with an appropriate Bakelite solution, drying it and sieving it. 500 grams of sugar pearls with a diameter of 4 mm are filled into a ring shape with a diameter of 160 mm and the gaps between the sugar pearls are carefully filled with the prepared grain.
The form filled in this way is heated to <B> 150 '</B> for about 2 hours, after which the solidified contents are removed and cooled. Now the sugar pearls are loosened with hot water, the disc is dried and lit with liquid bake soaked, which is then hardened in a manner known per se. The content of the cavities penetrating the abrasive body is approximately 3350 times the volume of the abrasive grain used.
