La-fia,: 1 est une élévation en coupe d'une partie d'une broche et de la monture de cette-dernière, ces pièces étant pourvues d'un mécanisme -de freinage selon l'inven- tion,--les parties da ce mécanisme se- trouvant dans la position .de travail; La fig. 2 représente une variante du mé canisme de la fig. 1;
Loom spindle braking mechanism. The present invention relates to a mechanism .de braking the spindles of trade, such as continuous ring looms or ring twisting looms.
This mechanism -is characterized in that it comprises a lowering device, slidable, which can be -moved laterally with respect to the axis of the mounted spindle, in order to be placed in the actuating position or out of. this position, this lowering device being associated with a movable de-braking member, able to cooperate with it for braking.
In some embodiments, the braking device can also be used to retain the lowering device, either in the active position or in the inactive position.
The mechanism lowering device, object of the invention, may be provided with a suitable braking material, such as leather, at a point which comes above a part of the nut or the nut. spindle flange, to keep lowered or slow down this spindle.
The braking member which the mechanism which is the subject of the invention comprises may consist of a more or less horizontal part, when it is in place with respect to its respective spindle, and of a part extending downwards. or pendant; the latter can be pressed by hand - or with the operator's knee for example, - whereby the indicated horizontal part can be pressed against a flange of the spindle nut, for braking , and thus stop the spindle in rotation.
A braking material may be provided on a suitable -surface of the indicated braking member, the lowering device cooperating with this braking member to brake the spindle.
In order to retain the lowering device in a given position, an extension can be provided on the horizontal part of the braking member, this extension then being able to penetrate into a cavity of the lowering device, to retain this der denier in the lowering position, or else this extension can abut against an external part of the lowering device, to keep the latter out of action.
The hanging part of the braking member can "be pushed either internally or externally and a further extension can be provided to limit its movement.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example; one embodiment and one variant of the mechanism according to the invention.
La-fia: 1 is a sectional elevation of part of a spindle and its mount, these parts being provided with a braking mechanism according to the invention, - the parts this mechanism being in the working position; Fig. 2 represents a variant of the mechanism of FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 shows the mechanism of FIG. 1; the parts of this mechanism being in different positions; The fi-. 4 is a plan view -du disposi = tif lowering, - while FIG. -5 is a plan seen from below the braking member; The <fig. 6 and 7 are perspective views, on a large scale, of the lowering device and respectively of the braking member.
In these various figures, the spindle, which is intended for a continuous ring loom, is shown at 1; the nut which is attached to it being indicated at 2. A part of the frame .du loom, to which the frame -for this spindle -is fixed in a manner indicated and well known, is shown at 3 in FIGS. 1 to 3 -inclusively.
The lowering device is shown at 4 in fig. 1, 3, 4 and 6, while a variant of this device is shown at 5 in fig. -2. This device is sliding, that is to say that it can be moved-laterally -in a direction transverse to -à the axis of the spindle 1, when the latter is placed in its mounting . For this sliding, said device has a cavity or. -a _ groove 6 (Fig. 4 and 6) through which it can pass around a part 7 of the spindle mount.
As this groove is elongated, the device 4 of FIG. 1 can be moved to the right or to the left on said part of the frame. That is to say, the device 4 can be brought into the position shown in FIG. 1, to keep the spindle 1 lowered, or it can be moved to the position shown in fig. 3.
A curved part of the device 4 is lined with a braking material; .such as leather, in 8, This curved part is shown in the .fig: 1 - so as to pass over a flange .of the nut 2, to the rear part - of the pin 1 .
In this position; the bent part shown above prevents pin 1 from being pulled out of its mount. - But when, this part slides laterally <ï.ent from this position to the -left, so as to occupy the position shown in FIG. 3, the lowering device releases the spindle, or allows it to be lifted from its mount.
A braking member is shown at 9, with a hanging part 10 intended to be pushed by the operator either towards the mounted spindle, or by moving away from the position of the mounted spindle; depending on the case. This member 9 has a cavity at 11 (Fig. 5- and 7) to allow it to pass around part 7 of the spindle mount. This 4th braking member is placed freely around part 7, and normally rests on the surface of the lowering device, the latter resting on the surface of the frame 3.
Braking material, such as leather, is indicated at 12 for member 9 ,. This material comes from a lower flange of the nut 2, so that when the hanging part 10 of the member 9 is moved internally or towards the pin 1, the material 12 comes against this flange bottom of the nut and the nut 2 as well as the pin x are slightly raised, thus causing contact between the flange,
upper -of this nut and the material 8 placed on the bent hook-shaped part of the .dispositif 4. The spindle is thus braked.
During the reverse movement of the hanging part of the braking member, the position shown in FIG. 1 can be reached or restored, -and the spindle is in motion again. But if the reverse movement mentioned above is continued, the position shown in FIG. 3 is reached, the lowering device can be pushed out of action, as indicated, thus freeing the -pin 1.
To maintain the positive lowering device 4 in the position shown in FIG. 1, a projection 13 of the or gane 9 penetrates into the groove or into the cavity 6 of the device 4 and thus prevents the latter from being accidentally shaken or unplaced in the position shown in FIG. 3.
But when the projection 13 is released from the device 4, the latter can then be moved out of action in a position such as that indicated in FIG. 3.
The wedge-shaped protrusion employed here tends to move the device to the right of FIG. 1 as it engages with the cavity or groove 6.
It will also be seen that if the member 9 is lowered to the position of FIG. 1, when the .dispositif 4 lowering is out of action, as in FIG. 3, the projection 13 indicated above then acts so as to prevent the return of the device 4 in the position of this FIG. 1.
Another projection 14 of the pendent part 10 of the braking member 9 is shown in FIGS. 1, 2, â, 5 and 7. This other projection can be used to limit the magnitude .du upward movement of .this member 9, when the end of the device 4 comes between this projection and that indicated by 13. It will be understood that the means described coming into engagement between the projection 13 and the cavity 6 are an example of the general case where there is a projection penetrating into a cavity in order to engage with the latter.
The engagement of the lowering device with part 7 of the spindle mount is only one example of how this can be accomplished.
In fig. 4 and 5, the voids between part 7 of the frame and the sides of the grooves formed in parts 4 and 9, are somewhat exaggerated.
In fig. 2, the hook-shaped part of the lowering device -5 comes on the lower flange of the nut 2, and the braking is fully applied to this flange. With the exception of the projections provided such as 13 and 14, the braking member shown here can be considered to be very similar to the braking members usually in use.
The laterally slidable lowering device, mounted around the axis of the respective spindle, as well as the brake member which is tilted to be brought into action, cooperate with each other to exert a brake pressure on the spindle concerned.
