La fig. 1 en -est une coupe longitudinale; La fig. 2 est une coupe suivant la ligne II-II de la fig. 1;
Gasoline lighter. The invention relates to a gasoline lighter comprising a gasoline tank, a wick burner and an ignition device comprising a wheel cooperating with a ferrocerium rod so that sparks are produced which ignite the wick. when the dial is rotated.
The lighter according to the invention is characterized in that the ignition device v including the ferrocerium rod, -is mounted on a frame has iustée and can slide in a tubular case pierced with at least one window and comprising the fuel tank and the burner,
the aforementioned frame being subjected to the action of a return spring always tending to push it back from the case by a key opening thereof and to maintain it in an original position where it partially comes out of the case. the case so that it can be pushed towards the inside of the latter, a fixed stopper, provided on the path of the frame, causing a rotational movement of the wheel and lighting of the wick when the ignition device arrives opposite the burner. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 in -is a longitudinal section; Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a side projection of the ignition device with respect to FIG. 1, parts of the case and of the frame being shown in section; fig. 4 is a section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. at.
The lighter has a tubular case formed by the assembly of several elements comprising a tube 5, a socket 6 screwed into the tube 5 and constituting the bottom of the case, a ring 7 screwed into the tube 5 at the opposite end. at the bottom 6, finally a partition 8 formed by a cap driven into the tube 5 by its rim 9. The partition 8 carries the burner 10, the wick 11 of which plunges into the tank. gasoline delimited by the tube 5, the sleeve 6 and the partition 8. In this tank extends a sleeve 12 fixed to the partition 8 and serving as a housing for a coil spring 13.
The tube 5 is pierced with several windows: I.4, one of which, relatively large, is located at the height of the burner 10 (fig. 1).
The ignition device comprises a frame consisting of a socket segment 15 fitted and slidable in the tube 5, a tube 16, a bracket 17 and a cap 18 fixed to the top of the. bracket 17 by a screw 19. These elements 15, 16 and 17 are rigidly assembled with each other.
The tube 16 is surrounded by the coil spring 13 which rests at its upper end against a collar of the tube; it is closed at its lower end by a plug 20 and contains a coil spring 21 as well as a ferrocerium rod 22 that the spring 21 always tends to push against the knob \ 23 mounted loose on an axis 24 formed by a screw frozen in the. bracket 17. The wheel 23 has a ratchet toothing the teral 24 'in which is engaged an impulse nose 25 of a collar 26 mounted idle on the axis 24 of the wheel.
A torsion spring 27 rests, on the one hand, on the stem 17 and acts, on the other hand, on a. Finger 28 of the collar, so that it always tends to maintain the collar in an initial position of rest. In this position of the collar, a button 29 of the latter is located in the extension of a stopper 30 fixed to the wall its 8. The coil spring 13 acting on a collar of the tube 16, always tends to push the frame. with the ignition components that it supports, out of the case through the opening formed by the ring 7.
However, the axial play of the frame is limited, from the inside to the outside of the case, by the sleeve segment 5 which abuts against the ring 7, so that only the cap 18 armor comes out of the case when the lighter is not in use. In this position of the frame, the socket segment 15 constitutes a shutter screen interposed between the burner 10, on the one hand, and the large window 14 of the tube 5 key to the case,
on the other hand.
The bottom of the sleeve segment 15 solid with the tube 16 and .de the bracket 17, on the other hand, constitutes a diaphragm pierced with a round orifice 31. This pierced diaphragm is designed to provide passage to the burner 10 when the lighter is actuated by means of a pressure exerted on the cap 18 and then serves as an extinguisher, when the ignition device is returned to its original position by the action of the spring 13.
The operation of the lighter described is as follows: When the cap 18 is pushed towards the inside of the case, the frame and all the members which are integral with it move relative to the burner 10 and to the stopper 30, it is that is to say that the tube 16 is inserted in the sleeve 12 against the return spring 13 and that the shutter screen 15 is lowered by sliding into the gap formed between the tube 5 and the partition 8 of the fuel tank, until the burner 10 has passed through the orifice 31 of the diaphragm.
During this course of the frame, the button 29 of the collar 26 has come up against the fixed stopper 30, which has the effect that the collar receives a rotational movement against the torsion spring 27, a movement which 'it transmits to the wheel 23 by its impulse nozzle 25. The wheel 23 then snatches the rod 22 of the sparks which ignite the wick of the burner appearing unmasked by the shutter screen, behind the window 14 of the case .
So that the air contained in the burner chamber is not compressed and can quickly escape when the diaphragm of the shutter screen 15 is lowered, the latter has the shape of a segment: of .douille whose l The notch communicates with the small windows 14 of the tube 5. Without this precaution, the movement of air would take place through the orifice 31 of the diaphragm and would prevent the wick from igniting.
As soon as you stop pressing on the cap 18, all the parts of the ignition device return to their respective initial position, under the action of the return springs 13 and 27. The collar 26 is stopped in its position. 'origin by abutting against the bracket 17 (fig. 1). The lit wick 11 while passing again through the orifice 31 of the diaphragm, is extinguished, above all because of the air intake taking place through said orifice.
The construction of certain devices of the lighter could obviously differ from the example shown. The impulse nozzle 25 of the collar 26 could be replaced, for example by a nozzle constituted by the button 29 itself.
