Wachstuehersatz.
Guard set. The usual oilcloth, which is used as tablecloth, etc., tears relatively easily and usually becomes brittle in a short time; the surface cracks off in places. This topping is also quite sensitive to hot dishes, as it sticks easily and so the topping becomes unsightly.
According to the invention, oilcloth-like coverings can be produced more easily by suitable gumming, they are more durable in use and show better properties than the oilcloth, which is made on the basis of the linoleum. The layer is also more stable, so that it does not tear even if it is stretched so far that the lower layer of material, which usually has less elasticity, already tears. The rubber layer does not break, retains its elasticity for a long time and does not jump off the fabric.
In order for such a rubberized material to function properly as a substitute for oilcloth, it is necessary that it has a durable, shiny surface. Such a surface can be Verlielkken the rubber by appropriate painting. A major mistake in painting, however, is that it is easily damaged and relatively brittle, which is why it cracks quickly. A shiny rubber surface can also be created by bringing the rubber into contact with a polished metal surface and vulcanizing it under pressure.
On the one hand, this method is costly and, on the other hand, it cannot be used with stolen materials because the greater pressure required for vulcanization would cancel the stolen surface of the material.
The subject of the invention is a waxy, cloth-like covering material, consisting of a material underlay, one side of which is provided with a rubber plate, the free surface of the rubber being covered with a shiny enamel resulting from the melting of the top thin rubber layer, that is, fusible gloss; . Such a melting gloss occurs when the rubber is not vulcanized in the press or in steam, but in hot air.
The wax-like covering material according to the invention is produced, for example, in the following way: A rubber sheet of any thickness, expediently about 0.6 mm thick, is pressed in a known manner onto the smooth side of a material that has been stolen on one side. This rubber sheet is made of such a rubber mixture, which appropriately contains at least 400o rubber and which exceeds the normal amount of a vulcanization accelerator, so-called ultra accelerator,
such as tetramethylthiuram disulfide or its mixture with mercaptobenzothiazoles is added. The rubberized fabric is placed in an air chamber and vulcanized in hot air. The temperature of the vulcanization is set in such a way that the surface of the rubber melts slightly before vulcanization is complete, which usually occurs at a temperature of a little over 120 '. If the vulcanization has been adjusted accordingly, the surface of the vulcanized rubber appears to be coated with a glossy paint and is not sticky.
The glossy surface produced in this way is better and more durable than any other paint finish. When stretched, it behaves like the lower part of the rubber sheet, i.e. it shows no cracks. If it gets dirty, it can easily be washed off with water without having to worry about damaging the enamel.
Instead of a single-colored rubber sheet, a multi-colored sheet of any color combination or a marbled sheet can of course be created. In addition, the rubber surface can be provided with a permanent pattern, for example, in the following way.A single or multi-colored pattern is printed on the surface of the raw rubber plate after it has been pressed onto the fabric, for example with the help of rubber paints. The applied pattern is completely fixed by the melting of the surface during vulcanization, so that such a pattern cannot be washed off in any way.
Without departing from the essence of the invention, the surface rubber layer can also be painted or decorated in any other known manner, for example by painting the plate with a metal paint, for example aluminum powder paint, or by it before vulcanization that the plate is lightly coated with shellac, for example, before or after it is vulcanized.
The essence of the new invention is thus to be seen in the fact that the rubber layer, which is applied to one side of a fabric, has fused gloss on the front side, which results in the pleasing appearance required by the oilcloth, but on the other hand, the disadvantages of the usual types of oilcloth the base of the linoleum are made, can be avoided by the fact that the oilcloth made according to the invention is insensitive to hot dishes in practical use, retains its shine and shows applied patterns in full sharpness and without distortion.
