Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines in der Textilindustrie verwendbaren wertvollen Kondensationsproduktes. Es wurde gefunden, dass man ein sehr wertvolles Produkt erhalten kann, das sich in der Textilindustrie, insbesondere als Weichmachungsmittel für Kunstseide vor teilhaft verwenden lässt, wenn man eine das Stearinsäureradikal enthaltende Verbindung mit Triäthanolamin kondensiert und den auf diese Weise hergestellten Monostearinsäure- ester mit Ameisensäure verbindet.
Die Ver- esterung der Stearinsäure mit dem Triäthanol- amin erfolgt zweckmässig in der Weise, dass man beide Komponenten zusammen auf höhere Temperaturen erhitzt, wobei Wasser abspaltung erfolgt; sie kann auch in Gegen wart von Lösungs- oder Verdünnungsmitteln erfolgen. Ausser freier Stearinsäure kann man auch deren Anhydrid, oder Chlorid oder Ester anwenden. Bei der Behandlung des Esters mit Ameisensäure, gegebenenfalls in wässeriger Suspension, erfolgt die Bildung des ameisensauren Salzes.
Werden Kunstseidestränge mit einer Flotte behandelt, die pro Liter 2 gr des oben genannten Produktes enthält, so zeigen sie nach dem Trocknen einen sehr weichen und geschmeidigen Griff.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 2180 Teile Stearinsäure werden zusammen mit 140 Teilen Triäthanolamin auf 160 er hitzt, bis etwa 18 Teile Wasser abdestilliert sind. Der gebildete Ester wird mit 1000 Teilen Wasser emulgiert und mit etwa 50 Teilen Ameisensäure versetzt. Man erhält auf diese Weise das Formiat des Triätha- nolaminmonostearinsäureesters von nach stehender Konstitution:

Das auf diese Weise erhaltene Produkt ist fast farblos und besitzt ein sehr gutes Weichmachungsvermögen für Textilstoffe aller Art, insbesondere für Kunstseide.

It has been found that a very valuable product can be obtained that can be used in the textile industry, especially as a softener for rayon, if a compound containing the stearic acid radical is condensed with triethanolamine and the monostearic acid ester produced in this way with formic acid connects.
The esterification of the stearic acid with the triethanolamine expediently takes place in such a way that both components are heated together to higher temperatures, with elimination of water; it can also take place in the presence of solvents or diluents. In addition to free stearic acid, its anhydride, chloride or ester can also be used. When the ester is treated with formic acid, if appropriate in aqueous suspension, the formic acid salt is formed.
If artificial silk strands are treated with a liquor which contains 2 grams of the above-mentioned product per liter, they show a very soft and supple handle after drying.
<I> Example: </I> 2180 parts of stearic acid are heated to 160 together with 140 parts of triethanolamine until about 18 parts of water have distilled off. The ester formed is emulsified with 1000 parts of water, and about 50 parts of formic acid are added. The formate of triethanolamine monostearic acid ester is obtained in this way and has the following constitution:

The product obtained in this way is almost colorless and has very good softening properties for all types of textile materials, in particular for rayon.
