Primer device for the end Wun cable with fluid insulating material allowing the impregnation, by this material, of the solid insulating material covering the conductors at the junction of two cables. The present invention relates to a finishing device for the end of a cable with fluid insulating material allowing the impregnation, by this material, of the solid insulating material covering the conductors < B> at the junction of two cables.
This device is characterized in that it comprises a connector made of a hollow part making contact with the conductor strand placed bare to. of the cable and a casing to the inside which is introduced the end of the cable, because ter made of a sleeve closed at its two ends by caps, one of which is sealed to the sheath lead and the other of which is to the tube forming the fitting, caps of which at least one is provided with an obstructable access path through which a vacuum can be made to inside the housing.
The accompanying drawing represents, to, by way of example, three embodiments of the device. Fig. 1 comprises the two main elements of the device assembled and constituting a first form, of which FIG. 2 shows one of the elements separately; Figs. 3 and 4 correspond to two of the most forms.
All the figures are longitudinal sections along the axis of the cable.
Figs. î and 2 show a cable made of conductors 1 or wire drills, inside which is the conduit 2 of the material insulating fluid and around which are superimposed a layer of insulating material 3 and a lead sheath 4. Over a certain length at, from the end, the lead sheath has been removed, and the strands of copper laid bare .
On this part of the copper strands is fitted a fitting made of a cy- lindrical piece 5 axially perforated. In the pipe 13 formed by the axial hole of this fitting, is housed a cylindrical and bular member with shoulder 5b, whose diameter in This is such that the hole 5a is relatively small in order that resistance to the flow of fluid is created.
The 5h tube fits to the inside of the wire strands and the 5 tube to the outside, so that the tube # 5b reacts to a circular clamping effected, for example, to using a hydraulic control vice, such as that, described in the patent n ' 1.37026, tightening by which one made apply the tube 5 against the strands. the insulating material is replaced on the 6 cable between the tube and the end of the lead sheath.
The end of the cable thus treated is located in the chamber 12 of a casing formed by a cylinder 7 of insulating material and two caps 8, and 9 # sealed to it in a manner which makes the joints gas-tight, by using a cement 8a introduced between the body 7 and the cylindrical edge .8b formed on the cap S. The caps 8. and 9 are welded respectively to the fitting 5 and to sheath 4.
They both have holes de- signed respectively by 10 and II- which constitute closable access routes. This device is used as follows: The end of the cable is prepared as shown in the fig. 2 where the connector is provided with a plug 14. The cable thus prepared is introduced into the casing 9, 7, 8 then buckled -à at its points of entry and exit. To ensure good insulation of exposed metal parts such as 5, the crankcase must be filled with oil.
If one were content to perforate the tube 5 inside the inside of the crankcase laterally to put it in communication with it, the cable oil would immediately spill into it. But it would be mixed with the air contained in this sealed casing. And if this air were sucked in through the 10 or II. channels, oil would also be sucked in. In fig. 1, the fitting 5 is connected by a tube 1 (6 with the inside of the housing.
A robi net 17 placed on the tube 16 is first closed while we do the -vide by the, way It. This -track being then closed, the valve 17, is opened so that the oil from the cable spreads into a ' empty space of air. Figs. 3 and 4 show slightly different devices to obtain the same result.
In fig. 3 #, a rod 18 is fitted in the tube 5 and is long enough to be able to plug the hole of hole 19 in the duct < B> 13 when it is sufficiently engaged in this conduit. 20 is a conical plug which, by means of screw cap 14, closes the end of the connector. The cylindrical rod 18 is connected to the stopper 2-0 in any suitable manner, so that it can be removed when desired . In the position shown, the rod 18 closes the lumen 19. The insulating fluid cannot therefore flow from the end of the cable and the installation can be carried out without any difficulty.
When the chamber 12 has been connected for the suitable time to, a to -vacuum pump, the cap 14 is removed and the stopper 20 with, the cylindrical part is slightly raised, so as to discover the interior ori fice of the hole 19. Thus, the insulating fluid is admitted into chamber 1, 2 without penetrating air or moisture y . When this chamber 12 of the insulator is completely filled, the rod 18 is permanently removed and a conical plug similar to to 20 is attached to the fitting. It < / B> It is sometimes difficult to perform at the end of the fitting the above described operation when the cable has been placed in the insulator.
For example, in closed connections, the insulating casing is fixed in a second casing to the metal casing and it is therefore difficult to remove the button 2iO and the rod 18. In this case, pn can resort to the device shown in fig. . 4. The pipe of the y connector is divided into two parts 13a and 13b separated by a restrictor in which a valve slides 2.1. Part l # 3a is in communication with the central conduit of the cable, while part 13b is in communication with chamber 12, of the insulator by means of light 19 . The plug 14 permanently closes the end of the connector.
If the fluid pressure in l3a is greater than in l3b, the valve is automatically brought into its closed position shown, and the fluid cannot pass from 13a to 1 , 3b. If, on the contrary, the pressure is greater in 13b than in 13, a, the valve automatically abandons its position, and la, communication between Ba and 13b is established.
The end of the cable inside can therefore be placed inside the insulator as described below. The valve 2-1 is first introduced into the fitting, 'as shown in fig. 4. To prevent the valve from moving out of position while preparing the end of the cable, a short piece of thin metal wire 22 pitches to, can be used through the fitting and the stem. valve, as shown. The fitting is then applied to the strand by an appropriate pressure and the end of the cable is completely prepared.
if the check valve is in place and the fluid pressure inside inside the cable is greater than atmospheric pressure, fluid cannot flow from the fitting. Im immediately before inserting the end of the cable into the insulator, the little one. wire 2,2 must be removed and the valve 21 is, therefore, held in position only by the pressure difference as explained above.
The cable is then inserted into the insulator and the various seals made to complete the insulation. A through the opening 10, a vacuum is created in the chamber. the insulator, and the insulator is then filled with a degassed insulating fluid, by means of a special separate reservoir. When the isolator is full, the pressure in chamber 12 is increased, for example by means of a compressor pump, until the pressure reached is greater than that existing to inside the cable. At this moment, the valve 21 is automatically moved from its closed position and communication between the cable duct and the insulator chamber is established in such a way. permed.
This process allows high voltage to current cables to be transported from the factory to the site when they are already completely impregnated with oil and other components. insulating fluids. For this, each length of cable can be permanently connected to a tank filled with oil and placed on a drum on which the cable is wound, a process which has been described in the bre previous vet no 13702.6.
This method also applies in the case where one end of the cable must be connected to a terminal or when the connection is of the to closed connection type, in which the oil held in one section of the cable cannot flow into the adjacent contiguous section, while special methods must be adopted to achieve the connection in the case of a connection of the type described in the prior patent no. 121424.
