Process for the preparation of a new Ifiipen dye. It has been found that a new, valuable vat dye with good fastness properties is obtained if one consists of 1 mol. 4. 5'-diaminodiphtaloylcarbazole of the formula
EMI0001.0006
and 2 mol. Bzl-Halogeribenzanthron obtainable condensation product fused with alcoholic potash.
The starting body can be obtained in the following way: 9.4 Parts 4. 5'-Di-aminodiphtaloylcarbazol are refluxed with 12 parts of Bzl-Halogeribeirzaiithron, 10 parts of dehydrated sodium acetate, 200 parts of nitrobenzene, 1 part of copper oxide and 0.2 parts of acetic acid copper until the reaction is practical. has ended, which is the case after about 20 hours. It is allowed to cool to about 50 ° C., filtered off with suction, washed with benzene, alcohol and water and dried.
To get rid of excess halobenzanthrone, the dark colored crude product can be treated with inert organic solvents in which the new compound is sparingly soluble, even when heated. It is a dark brown powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a brownish olive color. When dilute sulfuric acid or water is added to this solution, the color turns green. The product colors corinth covered from a yellow-brown vat.
Example: 7.5 parts of the condensation product described are added to an alcoholic potash melt, consisting of 37.5 parts of potassium hydrate and 20 parts of ethyl alcohol, at a temperature of about 170 ° C. The mixture is stirred at 175-1800 C until the dye formation has practically ended. It is then diluted with water and the dye is worked up in the usual way. The dye obtainable after separation from the by-product which cannot be kneaded is a dark brown powder which dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a dark yellow-brown color and dyes from yellow-brown Xüpe cotton in strong coffee-brown shades.
