Description
Process for the production of a new cellulose derivative. It has been found that a new cellulose derivative is obtained if triphenylmethoxyphosphorus dichloride is allowed to act on cellulose in the presence of tertiary bases.
The new cellulose derivative forms a light-colored product and is insensitive to direct dyes, but can be dyed with basic dyes. It can be used as a raw material for making textile fibers. However, protection for the specified process is only claimed insofar as it does not involve a treatment for textile fibers for the purpose of their finishing that is suitable for the textile industry.
Example: 10 parts of cellulose in the form of linters, loose cotton, sulfite cellulose etc. are boiled in a solution of 5-10 parts of triphenyl methoxyphosphorus dichloride in 200-300 parts of dry pyridine for 8-20 hours Treated with water bath and rinsed thoroughly afterwards.
