Description

Method of making woolen-containing material shrink-proof found that wool-containing material can be obtained by treatment with condensation products from dicyandiamide or dicyandiamidine and formaldehyde in an acidic aqueous medium, if necessary, at elevated temperature, can make it resistant to shrinkage.

For the process, in particular, colored or otherwise refined Wool can be used. The wool treated according to the invention can also thereafter if suitable agents are used, the usual fiber finishing treatments, such as bleaching, Moth mooring, etc., are subjected. Let this fiber finishing process but also at the same time with the method of shrinking according to the present Practice invention. Compared to the well-known anti-shrink treatment with chlorine the process has the advantage that: it does not cause any weight loss in wool, No yellowing or fiber damage to the wool and the coloring of the wool barely changed. Compared to the well-known anti-shrink treatment with resins The present process is characterized by the fact that it does not require a high ripening temperature requirement.

The method of the present invention, when applied to half-wool, also has the particular advantage that, at the same time as the anti-shrink effect, the improvement in the wet fastness of the dyed cotton portion of the half-wool, known for the condensation products mentioned, is achieved. Example 10 g of a condensation product, prepared by heating 84 parts of dicyandiamide in zoo parts of 300% formaldehyde and 30 parts of 85% formic acid to 95 to 98 ° and subsequent evaporation in vacuo, are dissolved in 250 to 5000 cc of water for several hours; the solution is brought to a pH of 3 to q with acetic acid. set. 100 g of wool are treated in this solution for about 1/2 hour at about 50 °. Then the wool is spun and dried. The wool obtained in this way is resistant to shrinkage.

If the above-mentioned condensation product is replaced by condensation products, the log according to patent specification 671. from dicyandiamide, formaldehyde and ammonium salts produced, similar effects are obtained. The same is the case though instead of D @ icyandiami @ d #Dicyandiamidine is used.
