Fig. 1 en est une vue en élévation laté rale; F'ig. 2 est une coupe suivant II-II (fig. 1) ; Fig. 3 est une coupe à grande échelle, suivant III-III (fig. 2), du dispositif d'in troduction; Fig. 4 et 5 en sont des coupes de détail respectivement suivant IV IV et- V-V (fig. 2); Fig. 6 est une coupe de détail à grande échelle suivant VI-VI (fi-. 4);

Continuous rotary dryer. The object of the invention is a continuous rotary dryer, for example with hot air or vacuum, characterized in that the material to be treated is introduced into a cylinder. freezes, by a device formed of two superimposed rotary drawers and an intermediate chamber, these two drawers being wedged on an axis of rotation, so as not to simultaneously discover the entry and exit of debt chamber.
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view thereof; F'ig. 2 is a section on II-II (fig. 1); Fig. 3 is a cross-section on a large scale, along III-III (fig. 2), of the introduction device; Fig. 4 and 5 are detail sections respectively along IV IV and -V-V (fig. 2); Fig. 6 is a sectional detail on a large scale along VI-VI (fig. 4);
Fig. 7 is a view of the end tripod of the apparatus; Fig. 8 is a detailed view on a large scale of a longitudinal adjustment roller. The dryer is of the kind described in Swiss Patent No. 128023, November 26, 1926 and the patent. Switzerland no 130222 of 16 December 1927.
It comprises a frame composed of two cheeks 1 and 2 and a cylindrical case 3, all assembled by spacers 4.
Inside is a fixed double-walled cylinder 5, which can be heated by an inlet of steam or hot water by means of a tube 6, another tube 7 serving to purge the water from condensation.
Around cylinder 5 and coaxial with it is a movable part which comprises two end plates 8 and 9 carrying a cylinder 10 and a truncated cone 11. Each end plate is formed of two rings. connected by radial arms, and it is carried and 'guided by three rollers 12 (fig. 1 and 2) pivoted on the fixed cheeks 1 or 2. The truncated cone 11 is carried by the two rings of smaller diameter and the cylinder 10 by the two rings of larger diameter. The truncated cone 11 is perforated with key holes 1.3; cylinder 10 is not. not perforated and -is provided with a guide propeller 14.
The smallest ring of the end plate 8 is externally toothed at 15 and rotates opposite a fixed toothing 16 carried by the cheek piece 1, the assembly being intended for a crusher.
A screw of Archimedes 17, movable inside the fixed cylinder 5, ensures on .celui-cile path of the material to be treated.
The material introduced into the cylinder 5 by the device which will be described later is pushed by the screw 17 towards the right end of the latter, where there is a notch 18 through which it falls on the cone 11 on which it descends. to go through the crusher 15-16 and, from there, fall on the cylinder 10 which it in turn traverses under the action of the propeller 14 to finally fall into an outlet channel 19. The holes 13 of the cone 11 allow the finest particles to pass directly. The arrows (fig. 2) clearly show the course of matter.
The material introduction device (fig. 2 to 6) is supported by a housing 20 fixed to the cheek 1. It consists of two fixed plates 21 and 22 defining between them an intermediate chamber 23 closed la.t6ra- LEMENT by a cylindrical wall 24 integral with the plate 21, and two flat circular drawers 25 and 26 keyed by means of studs 27 on a common hub 28.
The upper fixed plate 21 has two openings 29 and 30 (Fig. 4) and the lower plate 22 has an opening 31 (Fig. 5). The circular drawers 25 and 26 each have an opening 32, 33 respectively (Fig. 3, 4 and 5).
When the spools 25 and 26 and the hub 28 rotate, the intermediate chamber 23 is placed in relation sometimes with the outside, tan early with the inside of the casing 20. The offset of the openings 32 and 33 is such that these two connections never take place simultaneously.
On the plate 21, above the drawer 25 and in contact with the latter are two curved blades 34 and 35, arranged towards the rear of the orifices 29 and 30 relative to the direction of rotation of the drawer 25. These squeegees are carried by swan necks 36 and 37 fixed to the plate 21.
Likewise, a squeegee 38 is placed against the drawer 26, towards the rear of the opening 31. The rod 39 of this squeegee (fig. And 6) is fixed in a groove 40 provided in the upper fixed plate 21 and surrounded by a depression 41. sufficient to flood its fixing nut 42. A plate 43 hermetically closes the depression 41. This plate is supposed to be removed in FIG. 4.
To allow the device to be adapted to any direction of rotation, we have. provided in the plate 21 for two squeegee attachments symmetrical to the opening 31.
The upper drawer 25 is bordered by an externally toothed crown 44 which serves to drive the device.
The material which is loaded inside the crown 44, on the upper drawer 25, is entrained by the movement of the latter and accumulates in front of the scrapers 34 and 35. It falls into the chamber 23 when the opening 32 of the drawer 25 is in front of an opening 29 or 30 of the fixed plate 21. Likewise, the material in the chamber 23 accumulates in front of the rack 38 and falls to the bottom. inside the device.
As shown in fig. ?, the opening 31 of the lower plate is located above a notch 45 provided at the front end of the fixed cylinder 5, so that the material coming from the chamber 23 falls directly into said cylinder 5.
This introductory device is simple and waterproof. It even applies to materials in a thick, sticky paste which cannot be introduced either by push-piston or by blowpipes, because they adhere to the walls and block mechanical devices. It does not include a stuffing box, the drive being done only by crown 44.
The material passing between the crushers 15 e @ 16 tends to separate them, pushing the moving part to the right. It is important, on the one hand, to prevent this movement, on the other hand, to adjust the longitudinal position of the movable part, so as to adjust at the same time the fineness of the grinding.
This is obtained, in the example described, by means of two rollers 46 mounted on axes arranged radially with respect to the axis of the movable part. These axes are carried by a tripod flange 47 (fig. 2 and 7) integral with the fixed part. Fig. 8 shows the detail of a roller 46 and its axis 48. The latter is integral with a plate 49 carrying a shank 50 offset with respect to the axis 48 and housed in a bore made in a crown portion of the tripod 47 A needle screw 51 and a nut 52 enable the shank 50 to be blocked at the desired angular position.
By rotation of the shank 50 in its housing, the roller 46 can be brought to press more or less the mobile part .de the apparatus to the left. Of course, we stop so that the two rollers 46 work slowly simultaneously.
The tripod 47 has two holes 53 and 54 for the passage of the tubes 6 and 7.
The gates 46 come to bear against a smooth crown 55 fixed to the movable end plate 9.
Large lumps of material may form in cylinder 5, covered with a hard dry exfite, which retain finer particles and give rise to defective drying.
To break these clods at the exit of the cylinder 5, there are provided arms 56 fixed to the, crown 55 and rotating with it. These arms drive the clods of material and the latter protrude against the edges of the notch 18. A screen 90 prevents material falling onto the crown .55.
The appliance is heated first by the double-walled cylinder 5, then
