Description
Tool for rounding wooden rods. The object of the present invention is a tool for rounding wooden rods. This or til is characterized by a handle having a transverse hole, circular cross section, intended to receive the rod, and by a blade, fixed to the handle by means of an adjustment device and the cutting edge of which opens into the aforementioned hole, by a longitudinal slit in the wall thereof.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof, and FIG. 2 a plan view, partly in section. The tool shown comprises a handle, 1 having a transverse hole 2, of circular cross section. This hole is of the diameter that the rod should have once worked, and is flared at its end 3. This flaring allows the entry of the rod 4, which is here of square section, but which could have a completely different section.
5 is a blade whose cutting edge 6 opens into the hole 12 through a longitudinal slot 7 in the wall of the hole. This blade 5 is fixed to the handle 1 by an adjustment device making it possible to introduce more or less the cutting edge 6 inside the hole 2. This device comprises two screws 8 passing through two rectilinear slots 9 on the edges of which the heads support. screws; the rods of the latter pass through the handle 1 and receive two clamping nuts 10 provided with ears 11.
In order to lighten the tool, it has been provided in the handle 1 - recesses 12.
If we want to round the end of a rod, we introduce the latter in the flared part 3 of the hole. After this, the tool is rotated in the direction of arrow f, to allow cutting edge 6 of blade 5 to cut the edges of the rod and bring the end of the latter to the diameter of the hole 2.
Of course. one could also imagine that the tool remains stationary; the cutting movement would then be obtained by rotating the rod.
