Method and device for the name of the amount of heat given off by liquids set in flow by heat exchange. Devices are already known with which the amounts contained in liquid streams or the amounts of heat withdrawn from them are measured.
In most of these devices, which are used, for example, to measure the amount of heat exchanged in hot water heating systems, the products are formed from the amount of liquid flowing through the pipeline and its temperature (or the difference between its inflow and return temperatures) according to the scientific term of the heat unit and registered, that is, the amount of liquid and the temperature are measured at two points in the system, namely at the point of entry into the room to be heated and at the point of entry from the heated room.
The product of the temperature difference and the amount of liquid then gives the amount of heat that has passed into the room between the entry and exit of the heat transfer medium for the liquid. Because of the need for several individual measurements, the results of which have to be multiplied automatically, these devices have an intricate and, S,% penetrated design.
Investigations have now shown that the second power of the respective speed v of the heat transfer medium flowing under the influence of the heat exchange is proportional to the heat consumption with an accuracy sufficient for practical purposes: According to the invention, measuring devices are therefore used to measure the heat consumption are in such a way under the influence of the flowing heat transfer medium that their data change almost in the quadratic ratio to a flow velocity.
Instead of measuring the speed of the heat carrier itself, one can also use other quantities proportional to values for the measurement; for example, you can measure the corresponding speed pressure or speed height, respectively. to register.
The second power of the flow rate can also be used as a measured variable, since in many cases this amount is practically proportional to the flow rate at one and the same measuring point.
The fact that the second power of the respective flow rate of the heat transfer medium is practically proportional to the heat consumption results from the fact that the amount of heat transfer medium flowing through a pipe cross-section is proportional to the first power of the speed, i.e. the temperature gradient (ti-tz) of the heat transfer medium when passing through a heat emitting radiator is also proportional to the first power of the speed.
Instead of measuring the square of the flow velocity or the pressure or pressure equivalent to it. The speed level can therefore also be used to measure the temperature difference between the temperature of the heat transfer medium at the point of entry versus the temperature at the point of exit of the consumer to determine the heat consumption, because, for the reason just mentioned, the heat consumption is the square of the temperature difference is proportional.
Furthermore, since the heat output of a heating device is directly proportional to the size of its heating surface, the heat transfer coefficient (Ir.) And the difference (1.-4) between the mean heating water temperature (1m) and the room temperature (1r), since further it is known that the heat transfer coefficient changes proportionally to the flow velocity of the carrier, so the temperature difference (tm tr)
proportional to the flow rate v of the heat transfer medium through the radiator. As a result, the heat consumption can also be measured by measuring the temperature difference (im -I,.,), Since the heat consumption is proportional to the square of this difference.
From the differences (tl-tJ and (tm -tr), both proportional to the flow rate v, a number of other variables can be derived which are proportional to v and are therefore suitable for determining the heat consumption.
Any desired method can be used to measure the quantities mentioned; For example, if it is the flow velocity or the velocity pressure proportional to the square of the same (velocity height), the manometric method using piezometers, baffle plates, throttle nozzles, measuring tubes, venturi tubes and so on, or the volumetric method with Help voa water knives are used.
With the manometric method, by means of differential manometers to cooperate display, writing or counting devices are used, similar to those that BEZW for measurement. Registration of flow rates are in use. In the present application, there is a simplification insofar as only the pressure or. the height difference itself, but nothing, as is necessary when determining flow rates, the root values of which are to be registered.
During the measurement, due to the temperature differences .of the heat transfer medium or. the differences between its mean temperature and room temperature or values derived therefrom, temperature meters in the flow line, in ider return line and in the room to be heated can be used, which can also be designed to be registered, respectively. can affect display or registration instruments.
Several examples of means for carrying out the method according to the present invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, namely:
1 a device consisting of a partial flow water meter for measuring the square of the flow velocity of the heat transfer medium in section, FIG. 2 a vodumetric measuring device in section, FIG. 3 a manometric measuring device in section, FIG. 4 a thermometric measuring device tion,
which works with heat meters in the heating lines and in the room, Fig. 5 a thermometric measuring device in which the flow temperature, the return temperature and the temperature in the room to be heated are measured, Fig. 6 a thermometric device in which the flow temperature, the return temperature and the temperature in the room to be heated is measured, Fig. 7 shows a device,
in which the difference between the flow and return temperature is precisely measured with heating elements, Fig. 8 a device in which the difference between the flow and return temperature is also determined, but using a power source of constant voltage.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the value v2 is determined with the help of a built into a branch from the heating power part of the current water meter 1. A valve chamber is located in the main flow line 7. The inflow of the water to this valve chamber and thus to the partial flow water meter is regulated by a valve body B.
The opening of the valve is controlled by the respective water speed in such a way that, in conjunction with the special design of the valve chamber, the amount of water flowing through the water meter 1 is proportional to the square of the respective water speed in the main line 7.
The partial water flow emerges from valve chamber 2 through channel 3 into the measuring chamber, sets measuring wheel 4 in rotation and returns through channel 5 into main line 7.
The measuring wheel 4, the speed of which changes proportionally to the partial flow rate, drives the water meter counter in a known manner. Since the partial flow rate increases with the second power of the water speed in the main line, the amount of heat consumed can be determined from the information on the water meter. After the valve chamber, a baffle 6 can be arranged in the main line 7.
Its shape, for example, results from the partial view of the pipe leg shown under half of FIG.
Fig. 2 shows a further example of a device in which v2 etc. is determined from the water movement according to the voJumetric 3 method. In front of the partial flow water meter 1 built into the heating medium pipe 1.7 , a baffle plate 2 is built into the pipe.
The pressures prevailing in front of and behind the same are transmitted through tubes 3 and 4 to the chamber 5 of a differential manometer attached to the underside of the water meter, namely ider- art,
that the total pressure occurring due to the damming effect to the right of the flap 7 inserted into the chamber 5 and attached to the axis 6 acts. The static pressure of the heating fluid flowing into the heating device, taken behind the baffle plate 2, rests on its left-hand side. The flap 7 inserted into the chamber 5 with a good seal is winded by a force
which corresponds to the difference between the pressures in front of and behind the baffle 2, i.e. the dynamic pressure, and which is also dependent on the size of the flap surfaces exposed to the two pressures, turned to the left against the effect of a Fe Jer. The spring is used by the coil spring 8, which acts on the lever 9 attached to the end of the outside half of the chamber 5 on the axis 6 (protruding from it).
The axis 6 moves into the position in which the torque exerted by the flap 7 under the effect of the pressure difference on the axis 6 and that under the spring $ im. Tge,; en, ge set: sense of the occurring torque equal to each other are. On the ornamental axis of the rotary valve 10 is fastened, which makes the rotation of the axis 6 with.
The position of the rotary valve 10 is selected so that the valve wall 11 just closes the inflow line 13 leading into the measuring chamber 12 of the water meter 1 in the idle state, that is, when the flow of liquid has stopped. If the slide 10 rotates clockwise under the effect of a pressure difference exerted on the flap 7, the inflow to the water meter is released.
The closing edge 14 of the slide wall 11 is shaped in such a way that the flow cross-section to the channel 13 released by it when it is turned clockwise increases to the same extent as the speed of the water in the main line 17, i.e. practically increases with it .the square root of the pressure difference. As a result, the amount of liquid flowing through the water meter changes in the quadratic ratio to the speed or flow rate in the main line 17.
The partial water flow reaching Messka@m.mer 12 sets the measuring wheel 15, which forms the drive for the counter, in rotation and returns through channel 16 back into the main line.
It should also be noted "with certain heat transfer media, for example water, especially when it comes to thermosyphon systems, where the higher flow rates correspond to the lower values of the liquid density, also the changes in this density and possibly also those the specific heat can be taken into account to a certain extent by designing the terminating edge 14, whereby the measurement accuracy is still increased.
In the case of the manometric measuring device shown in FIG. 3, v2 respectively. the hydro: dynamic pressure or the second power of the flow rate, for example determined from the difference between the pressures in front of and behind a D, ro, diaphragm a.
These pressures are transmitted through the pipes c and d embedded in the heating medium line b to a piston 1a inserted in the cylinder e and under the action of the mutually identical helical springs f and g. The end of the piston rod i. is designed as a pointer,
which moves to the right in the event of a pressure difference acting on the piston lt and denotes the respective existing heat consumption on a division lo. Between the graduation k and the cylinder e, a counter 1 is built into the piston rod i, which is driven by a friction wheel nz. This is set in motion by the disk 7a, which is rotated by a power source of any kind at a constant speed and touches the friction wheel m with slight pressure.
If there is no pressure difference on the piston h, the friction wheel m is in the center of the disk n and is therefore not rotated by it. But as soon as the pressure on the left side of the cylinder is greater than that on the right, the piston pushes the counter to the right, and (the friction wheel m rotates to the same degree as it deviates from its central position.
Since this deviation is proportional to the pressure difference, i.e. v2, the indications of the counter also advance to the same extent, and since its indications increase at the same time the more strongly the longer the friction wheel remains in the respective position, i.e. the If this corresponding pressure difference persists, the displays of the counter 1 form a hatred for the Wärünever'brau.ch, which took place between two readings, or, for example, for the utilization of the amount of fuel consumed during this time. The in .Fig. 3,
The measuring device shown can also be used in connection with a venturi tube. The pressure line c is then branched off in front of the venturi tube, the line d, however, at its narrowest point.
4 shows the example of a device which makes it possible to measure the distribution of v and therefore the heat consumption proportional to the heat consumption with the aid of temperature gauges installed in the heating line and in the room. An electrical resistance thermometer a is attached to the flow line leading to the heat consumer.
It is connected in series with a resistor b. This resistance b is changed by a thermometer, which measures the temperature prevailing in the room to be heated, in such a way that it increases or decreases proportionally (to the room temperature. The resistances a and b are now measured as such . ,,
that their sum at a predetermined temperature 1r. This means that it should correspond to the temperature intended for the room, equal to the resistance g of a Wheatstone bridge.
The resistance a is designed in such a way that: when the heating medium flows in, its ohmic resistance increases, while the resistance b # is reduced when the room to be heated is cooled by the thermometer measuring the room temperature ..
The change in resistance a. it now follows like this, and the material of the resistance b. is chosen so that tdie, the sum of the resistances a and b changes linearly in relation to the difference (ti-t.).
A resistance thermometer c installed in the return line leading from the heat consumer is connected in series with a resistor d in the same way, which is also reduced proportionally to the room temperature by a second thermometer installed in the room.
In the manner described above, it is achieved here too that the sum of the resistances c and d changes linearly in relation to the difference (t2-t ”).
The resistors a and b together form the variable resistance in a circuit like J'er Wheatstone's bridge, in which e, f and g: represent constant resistances (.
With such a circuit, the current flowing through the bridge wire h changes at a constant voltage of the current source B is known to be proportional.

According to FIG. 6, the measuring device can also be designed in such a way that the one coil of a wattmeter W is directly in the circle of the current:
of a thermocouple is switched, whose warm soldering point V is in the flow, whose cold soldering point R is in the R.a.ume to be heated. The other coil of this measuring instrument is then switched into the circuit of a second thermocouple, whose warm soldering point A is in the return and whose cold soldering point B is also in the room.
The measuring instrument TP shows: then that the value of the product (1, -Q, (t2-t ") per proportional product of the voltages of both thermal elements, that corresponds to the values of v2 and therefore the heat consumption. With this measuring device .that is, ... the heat gauges act directly on the display device.
In the device according to FIG. 7, a thermocouple is used for the measurement, the warm soldering point a of which is attached to the flow V according to known measurement methods, and whose cold soldering point b is attached to the return R.
The thermocouple serves as a power source for a differential thermometer. This consists of the two resistance thermometers c and d, one of which is installed in the flow and the other in the return. In a known way, they form the variable resistances in the measuring bridge r_, d, e, f, in, which e and f represent constant resistances.
The voltage difference that occurs with a sdl @ chen circuit at the ends of the bridge wire, i.e. between points G and H ', is known to be directly proportional to the voltage of the measuring current and the difference between the two variable resistances c and d.
Since both the voltage of the thermocouples and the difference between the resistances c and d change in direct proportion to the values (tl-t2), then:
the voltage difference occurring at the ends of the bridge wire corresponds to the values of (tl-t2) 2. A display device J connected to the bridge wire p therefore supplies the values of v2 with proportional information and can be calibrated to thermal units.
On, the drawing is in Fig. 8, an arrangement indicated with which the values (tl-t2) respectively. (tl-t2) 2 can be determined using a 'constant voltage current source.
In the measuring bridge c, d, e, f, c and d are again the two resistance thermometers, e and f, which are accommodated in the flow and return of the heat consumer constant resistance. The current source is denoted by i.
In this arrangement, a second measuring bridge is connected in the bridge wire, which is formed from the constant resistances k and l and from the variable resistances in and n. The last-mentioned switching parts are also resistance thermometers which, like the ones that express themselves: circuit (c and d), are fitted in the flow and return.
Since the voltage difference between points g and h of the bridge c, d, e, f changes proportionally (tl-t2), the voltage between points o and p of the inner bridge changes proportionally (1.1- t2) and at the same time proportional to the respective difference: the resistances in, and 7a. Since this resistance difference is known to be: gleiehfa'lls (t:
, -t,) is proportional, the voltage difference between points o and p changes directly proportionally (tl-t2) 2. A measuring instrument connected to the bridge wire s of the bridge k, 1, na, n can therefore be used to measure the values of (t, -t2)
2 proportional values of v2 and id'aher zum. Determining the heat consumer can be used.
The two heat measuring devices to be attached in the flow and the two in the return according to FIG. 7 and FIG. 8, which are composed of resistance thermometers, are expediently accommodated as one device in a special container .or in a common casing, as is the case when used of. Such measuring devices to, general use is common in practice.
