Method and device for measuring the volume by means of the flow of a fluid.
As is well known, the measuring accuracy of all heat meters developed to date for measuring the heat consumption of hot water heating systems is more or less impaired by the fact that the nozzle and impeller water meters used here reduce the measuring forces so much that they can be used in the field of work from 0 to about 25% is questioned at all. Such measuring systems are generally ruled out for gravity heating systems because of the considerable resistance of the water meter.
These deficiencies can be avoided by the measuring method according to the invention, since the amount of heat can only be determined from temperature measurements, so that the direct measurement of the amount of water, which is afflicted with significant sources of error, is eliminated.
The measuring method according to the invention consists in supplying a known amount of heat to at least one partial flow of the fluid and measuring the temperature increase of the fluid of the relevant flow caused by this. It can now be deduced that the flow rate in kg / h is inversely proportional to the temperature increase of the fluid of the heated stream brought about by the additional heating.
As a measure to reduce the energy requirement of the auxiliary heating, the total flow of the liquid is advantageously divided into a number of equally large partial flows, of which, however, only one is additionally heated.
The auxiliary heating does not need to be switched on all the time; it is advantageously switched on only as often per hour as is necessary, for example, to record the heat consumption. For most industrial and space heating systems, measuring the amount of heat four to six times per hour should achieve adequate measurement accuracy. Where there are major fluctuations in heat consumption, it will be necessary to switch on the additional heating at shorter time intervals in order to increase the number of measurements per hour.
It is advisable to keep the auxiliary heating in operation before each measurement until the respective prevailing flow velocity and the temperature increase corresponding to the heat output of the auxiliary heating in the partial flow resp. main stream has stopped. If steady-state is achieved, the required temperature difference is measured and the additional heating is put out of operation at the same time.
If the temperature differences are measured by means of thermocouples, the measuring forces can be significantly increased when using multiple thermocouples connected in series and the thermal output of the additional heating (with electrical additional heating, the connected load) can be reduced accordingly.
An embodiment of a device according to the invention suitable for carrying out the method is shown schematically in FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawing.
FIG. 2 is a section along the line s-s in FIG. 1.
In the drawing, A denotes the flow line and B the return line, each of which is surrounded by insulation G. a and b are thermocouples, where al and bi denote the hot and a2 and b the cold solder joints of thermocouples a and b.
The measuring device shown schematically here consists essentially of a distributor C, through which the amount of water circulating in the closed I (rice course - is divided into four equal partial flows, of the resistance stimulus element E, by which one of the partial flows is heated, the two thermocouples and and a measuring device E that shows the heat consumption directly. The heating element E is supplied with the current through the lines F.
On the assumption that the specific heat of the water is, it can now be deduced that
EMI2.1
Therein mean:
Q = amount of heat given off by the heater in the unit of time (heat consumption). q = the known amount of heat developed on heating element E per unit of time. x = ratio of the total amount of water flowing through to the amount flowing through the heated sewer. taxi, ta2, etc. = the temperature at points a1, a, etc.
To determine the heat consumption, for example, one has to measure the temperature difference between flow and return as well as the temperature increase in the heated stream. However, quotient meters can also be used as display instruments; z. B. is suitable for this, if the temperature differences are measured by means of thermocouples, the cross-coil instrument, which is widely used in electrical engineering, which, for example, in connection with a drop bracket and counter, driven by a small auxiliary motor BEZW. a clockwork can also be designed as a heat meter.
If the amount of heat is not to be measured continuously, but only at certain regular time intervals, the heating current switch can also be operated by the same auxiliary motor.
The method can be used quite generally for flow measurement, both in stimulation and cooling systems, irrespective of whether the flow of liquids, vapors or gases is involved.
The resistance heating element can be installed in the flow line or return line.
The distributor C is expediently designed in such a way that it divides the liquid flow into partial flows of equal size. This means that the flow resistance of all partial flows, including the heated partial flow, must be the same.
In the embodiment shown, the heating element E has a cylindrical shape and its inner diameter is equal to the diameter of the unheated partial flow channels D. In order to prevent heat from being dissipated from the heating element to the unheated partial flows, the surfaces of the heating element contacting the distributor body should be appropriately insulated and to make the manifold from a material with low thermal conductivity (eg porcelain, glass, etc.).
If a different shape is chosen for the heating element, so that, for. B. part or the whole heating element is immersed in the partial flow, bodies of the same shape and size as the heating element must be installed in the unheated partial flow channels so that the desired division of the liquid flow into equally large partial flows takes place through the distributor.
