Process for the production of a new condensation product. It has been found that a new condensation product can be obtained if 1 mol of 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-methylene-indoline is used at least 11 mol. a compound of the general formula
EMI0001.0005
in which X is an exchangeable, monovalent radical, brings into action in the presence of acetic acid a, nhydride. The new condensation product crystallizes from alcohol in yellowish needles with a decomposition point of 240-247. It dissolves fairly easily in water and is sparingly soluble in benzene and ether.
It can also be deposited as a perchlorate compound; which crystallized from alcohol in yellow prisms from the decomposition point 228-229.
When using formimidoethyl ether chlorohydrate, the reaction probably proceeds according to the following scheme:
EMI0001.0012
EMI0002.0001
If the formiumidoethyl ether chlorohydrate is replaced by the corresponding amounts of formimide chloride chlorohydrate, formamidine chlorohydrate or formimicioacetic acid ester, the same product is obtained.
If the molecular proportions of the .Komponenten are changed such that to 2 mol. 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-methyleneindoline, respectively. If its salt, 1 mole of the products just mentioned, comes into play, dyes are formed directly.
The new condensation product is intended for pharmaceutical use and also serves as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes.
Example 1: A mixture of 104 parts of 1,3,3-ti-i-methyl-2-methyleneindoline, 180 parts of form imidoethyl ether chlorohydrate, 500 parts of acetic anhydride and 36 parts of glacial acetic acid is stirred for 20 Heated to 120 to 130 minutes. The reaction mixture is then mixed with water to decompose the acetic anhydride and salted out with potassium iodide. When it cools, the iodide of the condensation product separates out in very good yield.
Example 2 173 parts of 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-methyleneindoline and 120 parts of formamidine chlorohydrate are mixed with 600 parts of acetic anhydride and 35 parts of glacial acetic acid and stirred for 16 hours at a temperature of 40 -45 held. After the excess acetic anhydride has been decomposed with water, it is salted out with potassium iodide, whereupon the iodide of the condensation product crystallizes out after a short time.
Example 3: 173 parts of 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-methyleneindoline and 100 parts of formimidchloridchloihydrat are mixed with 600 parts of acetic anhydride and 60 parts of glacial acetic acid and for 16 to 18 hours at one temperature held from 40 to 45. After the excess acetic anhydride has been decomposed with water and potassium chloride has been added, the chloride of the condensation product crystallizes out.
Example. 4: 173 parts of 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-meth3 #] enindoline and 98 parts of formimium acetic acid ester are mixed with 570 parts of acetic anhydride and 40 parts of glacial acetic acid and added for 15 to 20 hours with stirring kept at a temperature of 40-45. After decomposing the excess acetic anhydride with water, it is salted out with potassium iodide, whereupon the death of the condensation product precipitates.
