Lubricant purifier device for automatic lubrication box of a bearing. The present invention relates to a device for purifying lubricant for an automatic lubrication box - of a bearing.
It has been observed in such gearboxes, such as self-lubricating axleboxes, for example, that after being put into service, metal parts which have not been removed may become detached from their walls. when cleaning the box at the self-firing of the mold. These parts are then entrained with the lubricant and arrive on the parts to be lubricated: this results in a very rapid heating of the bearing.
On the other hand, the wear of the various parts of the bearing (s) and of the shaft also produces deposits in the lubricant, which may, depending on their nature, cause heating.
The device according to the invention makes it possible to avoid the drawback mentioned above. It consists of at least one purifying member acting by settling and mounted removably in the box. Placing a removable purifying device in the lubrication box has the great advantage of allowing, after a certain period of operation of the bearing, the impurities contained in the lubricant to be evacuated by removing the device. This is particularly advantageous in the case of railway axle boxes.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention, applied to railway axle boxes: FIG. 1 is a vertical axial section of the lower part of an axle box with automatic lubrication, with a first embodiment of the purifying device: FIG. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 1 of a second embodiment of the purifying device; Fig. 4 is a plan of the embodiment shown in FIG. 3; Figs. 5 and 6 show other embodiments of the purifying device.
With reference to fig. 1 and 2 of the drawing, the axle box 10 has on its bottom two vertical partitions 11 having an opening 28. Between these partitions is removably placed a purifying device comprising a single purifying member 27, consisting of a sheet metal container, for example, internally having partitions 23 arranged in baffles. It has two inlet and outlet openings corresponding to openings 28.
The partitions constitute, for the oil dripping from the rocket 21 and heading towards the part 19 of the box in which the vane 20 fixed to this rocket moves; a labyrinth which it crosses only slowly by settling in the container 27 by settling all or most of the impurities which it contains.
In order to bring all the oil draining both from the rocket 21 to the rear part of the box, to force it to pass through the purifier device 27, the upper wall could be tilted towards the rear of the box. of the latter or arrange a collector tilted towards the rear of the box below the rocket. According to fig. 3, the axle box has at its rear part an inclined surface 50 extended above the bottom so that the oil drains into it instead of simply flowing along the rear wall . The purifying device here comprises two purifying members.
One consists of the container 27 with its baffles, the other by a - settling bag 51 comprising - juxtaposed cells 54 open at their upper part, formed in one and the same metal body and separated from each other by partitions 52, 53. The pocket 51 extends under the inclined surface 50 to the rear wall of the box.
The upper face 55 of the device 27 is inclined towards the rear and comprises a handle 56, allowing the whole to be removed from the bottom of the box 10. This embodiment works as follows: The oil which flows over the inclined surface 50 falls into the open pocket 51 of the scrubber and the coarse impurities are deposited in the cells 54 of this pocket 5L. before the tic oil enters the container 27, entered the partitions of which the purification is completed.
The inclined upper face 55 brings back all the oil dripping from the crimp in the rear part of the box to pass it through the purifying device.
When, after a certain time, it is necessary to renew the oil in the gearbox, the device 27--51 of is removed. the latter by taking it by the handle 57 and it is replaced by shot) other. All the impurities deposited are thus hardly eliminated without the need for cleaning the box.
It is understood that the purifying device shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 small have another shape and in particular the pocket 5 L could also be provided in a purifier as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
The pocket 51 may, in certain cases, not include partitions. It could be independent of the container 27.
For the embodiments of the lubrication box in which the purifying device must be tilted more or less to remove it from its housing, the rear of the settling bag 51 is formed into a chamber 57 (fig. 5). to prevent the contents of cells 54 from flowing out.
With a view to .facilitate the flow of the brifiant lu through a purifying device such as shown in the various figures of the sin, it is small to provide for this device a bottom in an inclined plane. In this case each pair of partitions 58 starting from the bottom, constitutes a settling cell into which penetrates a baffle 59 starting from the upper part of the device, as shown in FIG. 6.
In the embodiments described above, the purifying device placed at the bottom of the box naturally slows down very significantly: the circulation of the lubricant. To avoid this drawback, it is possible for example to reduce the dimensions of the container 27 as well as the number of baffles that it contains, or then increase the dimensions of the settling bag 51.
It is also possible in certain cases to provide a purifying device which completely fills the bottom c: e the box and consequently exhibits a part located in part 19 thereof. In this case, it is easy to achieve its fixing by engaging for example its rear end under part 50 of the box (Fig. 3) and had only fixing its front part by titi any suitable hub.
In all the described forms of the purifying device, a number of baffles or partitions lower or higher than that shown in the drawing can be provided, taking into account the conditions in which the box is used.
Of course, the use of the purifying device according to the invention is not limited to purifying the oil from an axle box, but this device could be adapted to automatic lubrication boxes of other bearings.
