Process for making a yarn. The method forming the present invention relates to the production of a yarn from different yarn parts, preferably to a method in which the yarn parts are made from different materials such as cotton, wool, linen, rayon and the like.
Processes for producing yarns from different materials are already known, the use of different materials can have the purpose of reinforcing the yarn from one material by adding another material, or else to achieve a special effect by mixing different materials chen.
Firstly, the twisting process is known, for example a cotton yarn spun in a known manner with an artificial silk yarn produced in a known manner to form a twisted thread. This thread is hard to the touch, since every part of the twisted product apart from the twist created during twisting has its own twist, which was created during spinning. Insane Furthermore, the production costs are high, since the production of the twist requires first the spinning of the individual yarns and then the twisting of the two yarns to form the finished product.
Second, it is known to mix different fiber materials, for example cotton and rayon staple fiber, with one another in any phase of the spinning process. If this mixing takes place on the spinning machine by merging roving made of different materials, for example cotton and synthetic silk staple fiber, the product also has a twist-like appearance. For example, however, the use of artificial silk staple fibers, that is to say cut artificial silk thread or short-torn artificial silk waste, has the known disadvantage that the product has a rough appearance due to the protruding fiber ends.
Furthermore, the yarns spun from two fiber materials have the disadvantage that they are more uneven with regard to the cross section than a product in which an uncut synthetic silk thread is used.
Thirdly, it is also possible, in accordance with the method just described, to mix the various materials with one another in a work cycle preceding the process on the spinning machine. The more preparatory processes the different materials brought together have to go through, the more completely they are mixed with one another, and the less the different materials emerge in the finished product.
It is also known to produce a yarn from a roving on wagon spinners to which one or more threads are added after drawing. To carry out the process, however, the wagon spinner requires a particularly complicated device.
The method according to the present invention is carried out on a ring spinning machine and consists in feeding the roving yarn pulled apart by the drafting device and at least one spun thread, the union of which between drafting device and spindle takes place, to the spindle of a ring twisting machine, advantageously the or also carries out the spun threads through the drafting system. The roving and the thread or threads can be made of different materials.
If the thread or threads are passed through the drafting system, it must be ensured that they are not pulled apart by the drafting system, or at least not significantly changed.
The advantages of the product manufactured according to the method according to the invention in comparison to a twisted thread of the same number manufactured according to the first-mentioned method are that the manufacturing costs are significantly lower. On the one hand, the production costs of a thread made of rayon and cotton, for example, are made up of 1. The production costs of the synthetic silk thread, 2. The production costs of the cotton roving, 3. The production costs of the cotton yarn from roving, 4. The production costs of the thread ( Ply and twist).
On the other hand, the manufacturing costs of the product according to the present method are made up of 1. The manufacturing costs of the artificial silk thread, 2. The manufacturing costs of the cotton roving, 3. The manufacturing costs of the product made of cotton roving and artificial silk thread. The production of the spinning machine in the last-mentioned operation is greater than that of the operation mentioned under 3. in the first process. The production is greater according to the coarser number of the product delivered by the spinning machine.
If, according to the twisting process, a twist was to be produced which is identical to the yarn produced according to the present process in terms of twist, the individual twisted parts would have to be twisted together very strongly so that the finished product would have an extremely hard feel.
Compared to the product according to the second method, the product according to the present method has the advantage of a smoother appearance, since there are fewer protruding fiber ends, which is due to the fact that, on the one hand, due to the yarn component supplied in the form of a thread, a large part of the protruding fiber ends of the Part of the yarn produced from fiber material can be twisted, and that on the other hand the thread-like component of the yarn itself can be smooth, such as a rayon thread.
Furthermore, the yarn portion supplied in the form of a thread can be of absolute regularity in cross-section, for example rayon, so that the yarn produced by the present method also has a greater regularity in this respect than by the previously mentioned method.
The product according to the present method is distinguished from the product according to the third method for the same reasons and differs from this in particular in that the two materials can be easily identified, so that a special effect is achieved, which can be reinforced, for example, by dyeing the yarn, which is known to be the different materials that can take on a different color (e.g. acetate silk and cotton).
The yarn produced by the process described is not subject to any restriction in its use. The main area of application will be found in warp knitting, tricotage and weaving because of the effect, the soft feel and its strength. Furthermore, the yarn can be used with advantage wherever a yarn made of only one material (for example rayon thread) is too weak.
