Device for regulating additional air for the fuel-air mixture of carburetor re-explosion engines. The present invention relates to a device for regulating additional air for the fuel-air mixture of carburetor aplosion engines, in which the regulation of openings for the additional air inlet is carried out by an organ that moves when pressure changes in front of a Dros selorgan of the suction line for the fuel-air mixture.
According to the invention, the inlet openings for the additional air are arranged in a tube and the entry of the additional air is regulated by a slide valve operated by the said member.
In Figs. 1 and 29 of the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown in vertical section.
In the example shown in Fig. 1, a pipe i opens from the side into the intake pipe r behind a mixing nozzle t of the Ver gasifier and a throttle valve q for the fuel-air mixture. The additional air pipe b is connected to the pipe i and passes centrally through a cylinder a. In the latter there is a piston c under the action of a spring k.
At the bottom of the piston c a pipe slide d surrounding the additional air tube b is rigidly connected, which only tightly encloses the additional air tube b at the top and bottom for the purpose of guiding the piston and slide on tube b and is recessed in the middle so that it is as light as possible on the tube b slide and cannot be sucked on.
In the additional air pipe b, under half of the cylinder a, several vertical rows of air inlet openings o are provided which, when the engine is switched off, where the piston c with the pipe slide d is pushed down by the spring, are covered by the latter so that no air enters the Pipe b can enter.
A tube slide e, which is closed at the bottom and is provided with a rotary knob e ", is rotatably inserted into the tube b and has a longitudinal slot p. A cap f with air openings f 'is slipped over the tube b and the cylinder from below, which by means of a flange In automobiles, n is attached to the dashboard, for example. The cylinder a is connected by a pipe g to the space s of the intake line r, between the throttle valve q and the mixing nozzle t.
At the point where the pipe slide d is connected to the piston c and both slide on the pipe b, the pipe slide d has an annular groove d on the inside, which through openings <I> na </I> with the inside of the cap f and is consequently also connected to the outside air.
The negative pressure occurring during operation in the space s of the suction line when the load is greater has a suction effect on the piston c in the cylinder a and pulls it and thus the pipe slide d, against the action of the spring k, more or less into the cylinder a, depending on its strength into it, whereby the air inlets o of the additional air pipe b will be more or less free.
As a result, the additional air enters the additional air tube <I> b </ I through the holes <I> f '</I> of the cap <I> f </I> and the holes o of the tube <I> b </I> > a, from where the .motor sucks it through the line <I> i </I> into the intake line r, where it combines with the fuel-air mixture coming from the mixing nozzle t. By turning the slider <I> e </I> accordingly, the slot <I> p </I> can be adjusted so that it releases one or more longitudinal rows of holes o for the additional air inlet, as is the case with the degree of saturation of the fuel mixture supplied by the carburetor allowed.
This degree of saturation depends on how large the fuel nozzle is selected, whether the engine is cold or warm, whether the outside air is cold or warm, whether the air pressure is high or low, etc. All of these coincidences can simply be Adjustment of the inner slide e can be compensated. If one pulls the slide e partially or completely out of the tube b, the clear width of the slide is free for the additional air. When the throttle valve is closed, for example when driving downhill, the engine then only draws in fresh air.
This firstly cools the engine and secondly prevents the spark plugs from becoming oily, because the vacuum in the cylinders is reduced, thirdly, it saves fuel by reducing a large part of the fuel sucked in by the idling nozzle when the throttle valve is closed by reducing the vacuum as a result of the open auxiliary air pipe is saved. When the engine is at a standstill, the complete opening of pipe b means that the engine cannot be started by unauthorized hands, since an explosive gas mixture cannot form due to the inflow of too much additional air.
If no additional air is desired, the inner slide e is set so that it closes all openings o.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the additional inlet openings are arranged in part b 'of the intake line r' of the engine, which has the same clear width everywhere. Part b 'is inserted by means of flanges v. The pipe slide d 'encloses the pipe part b' above the cylinder a '. Inside the pipe b 'there is the pipe slide e' which is open on both sides and of which a handle 2c protrudes through a transverse slot in the pipe part b '. The inner slide e 'has two longitudinal slots p' which, when the slide is open, expose, for example, two vertical rows of holes o 'of the pipe part b'.
To operate the slide e, a Ge rod or a Bowden cable could attack the handle a4. The cylinder a 'is connected under the piston c' by a tube lt 'with the space s in front of the throttle valve q in the intake pipe. The piston c 'with tubular slide d' is consequently pulled downwards in operation against the action of the spring k 'by the negative pressure in front of the throttle valve q, so that it releases more or less of the openings o' depending on the negative pressure prevailing there can be opened by the Innecischieber e 'by means of the handle z4 in the manner already described.
The control device described can be adapted to any motor. It comes into operation immediately when the throttle valve is opened and is switched off automatically when it is closed. It automatically adds the appropriate amount of additional air to the gas mixture in every position of the throttle valve and every speed of the engine. Before the device is conveniently attached to automobiles near the driver's seat on the dashboard, so that the slide 'can be adjusted from the driver's seat with a simple handle.
The negative pressure in the carburetor (between mixing funnel t and throttle valve q) is influenced not only by the degree of opening of the valve but also by the number of revolutions of the engine. The control device also takes this circumstance into account. At a higher number of revolutions of the engine, more fuel-air mixture is sucked in, the vacuum increases, and accordingly the device also adds more air. It regulates the supply of additional air in the most favorable way possible.
