Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that valuable azo dyes are formed when the arylides of the 2-aryla.mino-8-naplithol-6-earl) on acids are combined with diazo compounds. The azo dyes obtained in this way can be used in many ways.
If, for example, such combinations are produced using the ice color method using unsulphurized diazo components, olive and khaki tones are sometimes obtained, which complement the range of the previously known ice colors in a valuable way - indicates "brown to black colorations of excellent", licher washfastness,
If one starts with sulphated or earboxylated diazo compounds in the formation of dyes, then one arrives at wool dyes that are fast to the wool.
The new dyes can also be used for the production of colored sheets. The hitherto unknown arylides of 2-arylamino-8-na, phtliol-6-ea.rboxylic acids can be represented, for example, in the following way:
2. 6-Naphtholearboxylic acid is sulfated with concentrated sulfuric acid and that from the sulfation mixture. isolated 8-sulfonic acid converted into 8-oxy-2-naphthol-6-carboxylic acid by alkali melt.
By heating with primary arylamines in the presence of condensing agents, 2-axyla-mino-8-naplit-hol-6-oxboxylic acids are obtained therefrom, which are converted into the corresponding, for example, by heating with an arylamine and a water-removing agent in an inclusive diluent - be transferred to the corresponding arylides. In the same way, instead of the 2nd
6 # - Naphtholearboxylic acid start from 2-naplithylamine -6-carboxylic acid.
The present patent now relates to the preparation of an azo dye, since - by -, el "indicates that the diazo compound of p-nitroaniline-o-sulfonic acid is used with 2-phenylamino-8-naplithol <B> - 6 - </B> earbon- sä # ure-a.nilid coupling.
The new azo dye thus obtained is a brownish powder, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid with an olive color. He dyes wool in dark brown. Tones of noticeable whaleiness that become a little deeper when chromed without changing the nuance.
<I> Example: </I> To a finely divided suspension of vlamino-8-na.phthol-6-car- 35.4 parts of 2-plienonic acid-a.nilid (an olive-brown powder, insoluble in benzene , soluble in spirits and glacial vinegar, which decomposes at around 140 <B> 1 </B>), which is mixed with excess acetic acid, flows, with stirring at around. <B> 10 '</B>, the diazo compound from <B> 23.5 </B> parts of p-nitroanilin-0 -.-. ulfo.gaurern ammonium,
which prepares in the usual way and whose mineral acid is blunted to the #, rössIgil part by the addition of sodium acetate. After the coupling has formed, the dye formed is deposited in the usual manner.
