Les dessins annexés représentent, à titre d'exemple, plusieurs formes d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention. Les fig. 1, 2, 3 sont des schémas, les deux premiers en élévation et le dernier en perspec tive de trois formes d'exécution 'de l'inven tion;

Electric and mechanical motor assembly with common control, particularly intended for phonographs. The present invention relates to a motor assembly comprising both an electric motor and a clockwork movement. Assemblies of this type can be used in particular for phonographs where the electric motor and the clock movement must alternately produce the rotation of the shaft of the record holder.
The motor assembly according to the present invention is characterized by a common control member which, actuated in one direction, determines the engagement of the electric motor and the disengagement of the clockwork movement and which, actuated in the other direction, determines è, both the disengagement of the electric motor, the clutch of the clockwork movement and the rupture of the supply circuit of the electric motor.
This control member can be operated by the key itself which is used for winding the clockwork movement.
The appended drawings represent, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention. Figs. 1, 2, 3 are diagrams, the first two in elevation and the last in perspective of three embodiments of the invention;

fig. 14 is a plan diagram of the freewheel driving the axis of the regulator; figs. 15 and 16 show the free wheel for dragging the axis of the disc holder plate in horizontal and vertical section; figs. 17, 18 and 19 respectively show in vertical section, in plan and in horizontal section another embodiment of the invention.
One of the simplest embodiments is represented by the fia. 1.
The shaft 1 of the common ball regulator of the motor assembly meshes by worm screw and helical toothing with the shaft of the record holder plate -6 of the phonograph. Pinion 2 can freely rotate on shaft 1 meshing with wheel 3 of the clockwork movement and transmission pulley 4 which receives a belt from the electric motor (not shown). The pinion 2 and the pulley 4 can be alternately coupled with the shaft 1 by a clutch sleeve 5 sliding without turning on the shaft 1. A lever 7 oscillating around the axis 8, controls this sleeve.
By engaging the pulley 4, the lever 7 stops the wheel 3 by its lower end 9 which fits between the cheeks 11 of the lateral face of the wheel 3. By engaging the pinion 2, the lever, by tilting, releases the wheel 3 and pushes the elastic blade 12 of the switch, thanks to a boss 13 made of insulating material, which cuts off the supply current to the electric motor.
Fig. 2 shows another very simple embodiment, for the (more frequent) case where the clockwork movement has a vertical axis, while the regulator shaft is horizontal.
On the regulator shaft 1 at. balls can slide the coupling sleeve 14 integral with the pulley 4 of the electric motor and on the disc carrier shaft 6 the coupling sleeve 15 integral with the last pinion 2 of the clockwork movement. The tilting crankshaft 7 having its axis in 8 alternately engages the couplings 14 and 15, actuates the switch 12 by a boss 13 of insulating material and can rust the wheel 3 of the clockwork movement by means of the knife 17 s' interposing between them. pegs 11 with which the lateral face of the wheel 3 is fitted.
The operation is identical to that of fig. 1.
The lever 7 can be operated by a handle or an appropriate key.
The clutches of the plate axis and of the governor shaft can be toothed, friction claw, brush, wedge cemented by springs or balls or electric.
In fig. 3, there is shown a practical embodiment capable of being applied to already existing devices.
A vertical shaft 19 is provided with a handle 21 by means of which it can be rotated in both directions. On this shaft are fixed a crank 22 acting ning a secondary shaft 23 by means of a rod 24, a second crank 25 acting on the pawl 26 by means of a rod 27 and a fork 28 disengaging the coupling of the idler pulley 4 connected to the electric motor with the axis 1 of the regulator, by pressure on the lateral face of the pulley (this coupling is not shown, being housed in the pulley itself).
A two-branch counter spring 29 tends to engage this coupling by pushing pulley 4.
The shaft 23, by rotating, causes to rise or fall along the axis of the wheel 3 of the clockwork movement by means of a rod or, connecting rod 31, a slide tube 32 to which the fork 33 is fixed which acts on the coupling sleeve 36 sliding on the disk-holder shaft 6 and carrying the pinion 2, so as to be able to secure the shaft 6 to the pinion 2.
The shaft 23 also carries an insulating material cam 38 which acts on the elastic blade 12 of the switch.
Trees 1 and 6 are linked together. The wheel 3 of the clockwork movement is integral with a ratchet wheel 39 which can be stopped by the pawl $ 2. The operation of the control mechanism is as follows: Assuming that the handle 21 is turned to the right, the axis 19, participating in this movement, will force the fork 28 to push back the pulley 4 and to disengage it from the shaft 1 of the regulator.
The auxiliary shaft 23 will be set in motion and will raise the fork 33 which will engage the disc holder axis 6 with the pinion 2, At the same time, the cam 38 will release the blade 12 of the switch by cutting the current electric. The pawl 26 will be attracted by the rod 27 and the wheel 3 released.
Thus in this case, the disc-holder shaft and the regulator will be actuated by the clockwork movement and the electric motor will be stopped.
By rotating the handle 21 in the opposite direction, the levers, rods and forks will follow this movement, the coupling of the electric motor with the axis of the disc holder will be reestablished and the clock movement stopped.
The axis 19 can be turned by means of a clock key and in this case its upper end is cut into a square, or by means of a lever or lever operated directly by hand, or finally, the joystick can be actuated indirectly by a secondary lever, a cam or a rod.
A form of indirect control of this particularly practical handle is that which is shown in fig. 4 to 9. This command then uses the key (not shown) which is used to wind the clockwork movement.
The device used is as follows: Around the claw socket 41 on which the key or the winding crank acts, a cam 42 is mounted loose which can act on the lever 21 wedged on the shaft 19. This lever is constantly pushed back towards the cam by a spring not shown. The eccentricity of the cam is obviously determined according to the amplitude of the movement to be given to the lever. The cam 42 has a cutout 43 internally, the width of which in the middle is a little larger than at the ends.
In this cutout is a ball -14, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the width of the middle part of the cutout.
In contact with the cam 42, and also around the sleeve 41, is a dis 45 above called disc-trigger. This disc has four legs protruding from it. Two of these internal tabs 46, 46 'penetrate inside the cutout 43 and embrace the ball 44 between them. The two outer tabs 47, 47' match the tooth of the cam.
The trigger disc 45 and the cam 42 are held (Fig. 7) between a flange 48 of the socket and a ring 49 attached to the socket.
The operation is as follows: if, by means of the key, the socket is turned to the right, the friction exerted on the ball causes it to jam in the cutout, and the cam and the trigger disc are driven. The rotation of the cam moves the lever. When the cam has more or less completed its turn, the tab 47 meets the handle (fig. 4); under these conditions the internal tab 46 pushes the ball and releases it. The cam stops being dragged, while the socket continues to rotate with the wrench or the crank which winds the spring.
The rotation of the lever 21 had the effect of engaging the clockwork movement.
If we turn the key to the left, we will jam the ball on the other side of the cutout and drive the cam in the opposite direction until (fig. 6) the handle 21, meeting the tab 47 , releases, through the intermediary of the plate 46 ', the ball and the drive ceases, the clutch with. the electric motor having been insured.
It should be noted that, normally, the winding keys only drive the sockets with which they engage in only one direction, to the right, that is to say in the direction of clockwise. Now here, it is also necessary that the training can be done in reverse without having to remove the key. For this purpose the winding shaft of the watch movement 51 will be. threaded. The end of the key 52 will be tubular and internally threaded. A shoulder 53, at the base of the rod 51, on which the end of the key will be based, will ensure the. solidarity of the key and the winding shaft.
Of course, the ball could be replaced by a biconical cam or a roller. Figs. 10 and 11 represent an advantageous embodiment of the common control device.
The electric motor 61 can oscillate freely around the eccentric journals 62, which support it, this oscillation being controlled by the connecting rod 63 which is fixed to a finger 60 carried by the motor by the intermediary of an elastic bearing 60 '. in rubber, for example, which is intended to damp vibrations. The motor pulley 64 is connected by a belt 65 with the pulley 66 placed on the axis 67 of the regulator. This louse forms a freewheel drive form and its interior construction will be "explained below.
It is such that when the electric motor drives the. pulley 66 in the direction indicated by the arrow, this in turn drives the axis 67 of the regulator, while, when the axis of the regulator rotates in the same direction under the action of the clockwork movement, this rotation is free without driving the pulley 66.
The disc carrier shaft 68 can be actuated by the worm 69 of the governor when the electric motor is running, or by the toothed wheel 70 of the clock movement and the pinion 71. The transmission of the pinion movement 71 to the shaft 68 is effected by means of the free drive wheel 72, the construction of which will be explained below. This constitution is such that when the toothed wheel 70 turns, causing the:
rotation of the pinion 71 in the direction of the arrow, the shaft 68 is driven, while, when the wheel 70 is stopped, the shaft 68 can rotate in the same direction as before under the action of the worm 69 driven by the electric motor. The ratchet wheel 73, integral with the wheel 70 can be stopped by a pawl 74 disposed at the bent end of the sliding rod 75, the other end of which is bent at 76.
The threaded end of the winding pin 77 of the clockwork movement passes through an opening of 76 and the winding key or crank not shown is (also internally threaded, and, by screwing on the pin 77, presses on the part 76 which is subjected to the action of the coil spring 82.
An elbow lever 78 pivoted at its elbow at a fixed point 79 is hinged at one of its ends to the. connecting rod 63 and, at its other end has a slot 80 through which a g Cr pin 81 fixed to the rod 75 goes through. The movable contact 88 of a switch, the fixed contact of which is shown at 84 , is subjected to the action of the end of the rod 75 opposite to 76.
The operation of the device is as follows: Assuming that the device was previously running on the electric motor, if the crank or winding key is screwed onto the threaded end of the axle 77, at the end of a a certain number of turns, this crank will slide the part 76, 75 and by the pawl 74 release the wheel 73, the wheels 73 and 70 will therefore be released and the clockwork movement will drag the shaft 68. The movement of the trin gle 75 actuates the elbow lever 78 by means of the. pin 81 and tilts the motor 61 via the connecting rod 63.
Under these conditions the pulley 64 approaches the pulley 66 and the axis of the regulator 67, which reduces the pressure of the belt on the pulley 66 and, consequently, on the bearings of the axis of the regulator, axis which will be dragged by means of the worm 69 by the disc holder axis 68.
At the very moment when these various movements occur, the end of the rod 75 acts by its insulating pin on the movable contact 83, which moves away from the fixed contact 84 by cutting the supply current to the electric motor.
With the apparatus thus running with the mechanical motor, if the winding crank is turned to the left by unscrewing it, the member 75, 76 returns to its original position under the influence of the spring 8,2 and causes the pawl 74 between the teeth of wheel 73 by stopping it. The mechanical motor is thus stopped. At the same time, the lever 78 moves the motor 61 away from the axis 67 of the regulator by tensioning the belt 65. At the same time, the part 75 acts on the switch 83, 84 by closing the electrical circuit.
It is then the electric motor which actuates the axis of the regulator via the pulleys 64 and 80 and the belt 65. The endless screw 69 drives the shaft 68 of the disc holder which slides in the free drive wheel. , the pinion 72 being stopped.
Fig. 1.3 represents the method of construction of a variant of the combined switch with a view to reducing the spark by a sudden rupture. The pawl 74 is provided with a small lever 90 pushed back by a spring 91. One end of this lever serves to stop the wheel 73 and, under the pressure of the wheel, comes to rest against the end of the pawl in hook shape, the other end of the lever 90 then near the blade 83 of the switch of the stop screw 84 through the button 92 of insulating material, which has the effect of closing the circuit.
When the pawl leaves the wheel, the triggered spring 91 pushes back the lever 90 which abruptly breaks the current, the triggering movement of this lever being stopped by the stop 93.
The construction of the freewheels or drive clutches is as follows: the freewheel for driving the regulator shaft (fig. 14) is placed inside the pulley 86 and has offset rollers 94 having a low eccentricity with respect to their axis 95 housed in the body of the pulley. When the pulley rotates in the direction indicated by the arrow on said pulley, these rollers drive the pin 67 by jamming it. On the contrary, when the pulley is fixed, the axis turns in the same direction as before, the rollers slide on this axis, the rotation of which is done freely.
Since the force that it transmits is greater, the freewheel for driving the axis of the plate could be constructed as shown by way of example in FIGS. 15 and 16.
On the axis 68 of the plate is mounted idle the pinion 71, one of the ends of which is cut in the form of a ratchet wheel 71 'with very flattened teeth; on the other hand, on the axis 68 is fixed a drum 72. Between the inner surface of the drum 72 and the inclined surfaces of the teeth of the pinion 71 'are placed discs 97 which wedge between these surfaces when the pinion turns. in the direction indicated by an arrow. A washer 98, fixed on the pinion 71 maintains the discs 97 in the freewheel.
It can therefore be seen that when the pinion 71, driven by the clockwork movement, rotates in the direction of the arrow, it forces the drum 72 and consequently the axis 68 to rotate. If, on the contrary, the axis 68 and the drum 72 driven by the worm 69 turn in the same direction, they slide on the pinion 71 without driving it.
Instead of a belt transmission of the electric motor to the axis 67 of the governor, it is possible (fig. 12) to use a friction pulley 99 wedged on the motor shaft; this pulley cooperating with the pulley 66 of the axis of the regulator, itself transformed into a friction pulley. In this case it is no longer necessary that the pulley 66 freewheel form on the axis 67 of the regulator, because the tilting of the engine 61, provided by the connecting rod 6.3, is sufficient to break the transmission between the engine and the engine. axis 67 of the regulator during operation with the spring motor.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 17 to 19, the winding key, when it is screwed in, comes at a given moment to move a slide whose movement causes the disengagement of a pulley actuated by the motor with the control of the carrier shaft. disc, the opening of the motor supply circuit and the release of the freewheel transmitting the driving force of the clockwork movement to the control of the disc holder shaft.
The winding key is shown at 101 and the winding shaft at 102. On the latter which acts on the clock movement 120 is threaded a sleeve 103 held by the spring 104 bearing against the box 121. This sleeve is integral with a horizontal strip 105 sliding to the upper part of the phonograph case and having a horizontal projection 106 connected to the upper part of the lever 107 pivoting about a horizontal axis 108.
The lower part of this lever carries shoes 1.09 preferably arranged on either side of the pulley 110 fitted for the illustrated position of the strip on the cone 111 keyed on the shaft 112; this pulley is always connected by a belt preferably to the electric motor 123.
The other end of the strip carries a notch 123 in which is held one end of a lever 124, the other insulating end of which is normally interposed between the contacts 125, 126 respectively connected to the two current supply terminals. Finally, the rear end of the strip has at its lower part a lug 112 immobilizing the ratchet wheel 113 for the fi gured position of the strip. This ratchet serves as a freewheel in the transmission between the movement 120 and the disk-holder shaft 127 controlled by the driven wheel 118 and is controlled by means of the driving gears 115, 115 '.
The transmission between 113 and 118 is done by means of the double pawls 116 and 117 pivoted on 11.8 which is mad on the shaft of 115 and 118. These pawls are established in such a way as to allow the driving of 113 by 118 in one direction and not in the other, without the reverse drive being possible in the direction of motor rotation.
The disk carrier shaft can be controlled, on the other hand, by the motor 123, and the shaft 12.2 by the worm gear 128, 129.
It can therefore be seen that if the movement is raised by means of the crank 102, this crank which moves along a propeller comes, preferably when the reassembly is complete, to act on the slide 105. The pulley 1.10 is disengaged, the current is cut and er got 112 withdraws from the. wheel 118 which rotates under the action of movement 120, driving wheel 118 and consequently shaft 127 as well as shaft 122 disengaged from the motor. When the crank is loosened either voluntarily or under the action of the relaxation of the movement spring 120, the slide 105 returns to its front position in which it returns the pulley 110 to its clutch position.
At the same time, the spring contact 125, which is no longer lifted by the lever 124, is applied to the contact 126. The motor starts to rotate, driving the disc holder shaft 127 without being able to drive the wheel. 118 which is also immobilized by the lug 112.
