Reversibel stockbare brasse.
Zur Abformung von Gebissen in der Mundhöhle wurde in der Zahnheilkunde bis her Gips benützt, der den Nachteil aufweist, dass er nur in Stücken aus dem Munde her ausgebrochen werden kann und dann in langwieriger Arbeit zusammengesetzt werden muss; beim Herausbrechen aus dem Munde gefährdet er die Zähne und namentlich künstliche Ersatzstücke des Patienten, da er nach dem Abbinden zu einer steinartig har- ten Masse wird;
Die so vorbereitete Masse kann noch wei tere Körper enthalten, deren wichtigste sind: Bismutum subnitricum oder ein. anderes gleichwertiges Bismutsalz als fäulniswid riger und gerbender Zusatz, der das Ver halten der Masse gegen Gips beeinflusst;
Vor ihrem Gebrauche wird sie zwei Minuten in einer eigens konstruierten Spritze unter Dampfdruck gekocht und daher zugleich sterilisiert; in den Mund wird sie ohne Aus- übung eines nennenswerten Druckes auf Zähne und die Weichteile der Kiefer einge bracht, wobei die Weichteile nicht weg gequetscht werden. ,Sie erstarrt im Munde, also bei Körpertemperatur, binnen ein und einer halben Minute. Im Erstarrungs-, also Gelzustand ist eine solche Masse elastisch federnd, hat jedoch keineswegs Kautschuk charakter;
also Stück formen entbehrlich machen.
Reversible bream. The subject of the present invention is a reversibly stifling mass, that is to say a mass which can pass from the sol to the gel state and vice versa, which can be used for a wide variety of purposes; For example, for dental impressions in the oral cavity, for impressions in other body cavities, for sculpting purposes for impressions on the model, etc. In the form of variants of the basic composition, it can be used for the purposes of cosmetics, dermatology, etc., whereby through medicinal use Additives their effect on the skin can be used and promoted favorably.
In dentistry, plaster of paris has been used to take impressions of teeth in the oral cavity, which has the disadvantage that it can only be broken out of the mouth in pieces and then has to be put together in tedious work; when it breaks out of the mouth it endangers the patient's teeth and especially artificial replacement parts, since after setting it becomes a stone-like hard mass;
Another disadvantage of plaster of paris is that it can often take four to five and even more minutes for the plaster of paris to harden, and that the natural shapes and proportions are changed by fitting the negative together as a result of inadequate fitting together of the pieces that the spare parts processed afterwards do not always fit. It is also known that the plaster of paris must be prepared negatively before the positive casting.
Impression compounds, such as the well-known resin-wax compositions, squeeze away the soft parts and do not form any undercuts. therefore, in many cases, completely false negatives, for example by driving the undercut areas of the negative backwards as so-called swallowtails. Gutta-percha has the disadvantage that it warps after being removed from the mouth.
These impression compounds are also non-sterile and particularly dubious if the same piece is repeatedly put into new patients' mouths without prior sterilization. So-called hydrocolloid impression compounds have so far mostly failed to use because they flowed off the tooth spoon, took too long to solidify in the mouth or did not solidify in the mouth at all, or, if solidified, had too low a consistency, were unwieldy to use and only rough Delivered plaster casts.
The subject of the present invention forming reversibly stockable mass can be given such a composition that it does not have the defects mentioned; it is characterized in that it contains a hydrophilic, water-containing, gelatinous, colloidal basic substance of plant or animal origin, for example gelatinous material obtained from seaweed, seaweed such as Hai-Thao, Dschin-Dschen and the like, or other water-containing jelly Substances of a gelatinous character, such as Glutinose, Liehen carraghen, gelatine, glue, etc.
or mixtures of such substances of vegetable and animal origin, and that; In this basic substance, in order to improve its properties, the following are finely divided in an amount that does not exceed the dry weight of the gelatinous basic substance: rubber, fatty substances, for example paraffin, ceresin or other paraffinic hydrocarbons, stearin or other solid fatty acid glycerol esters, or wax , Walrat or similar solid fatty acid esters of monovalent alcohols, and resins such as copal, amber, dammar, mastic, etc.
If appropriate, fibers of animal, vegetable or mineral nature, such as cotton, silk, cellulose, etc. can also be added to the mass according to the invention.
The basis of the composition are preferably water-containing colloidal substances from certain seaweed and related plants, such as Hai-Thao or the Chinese Dschin-Dschen, as well as gelatinous substances with the character of bone glue.
The sol obtained therefrom does not, however, allow such a strong thickening that it would be useful for the intended purposes, since the mass is too sticky and its internal friction may be too great. The consistency would also be too low: Kautschulz is therefore first added in various forms, for example as a solution in one of the known solvents, in the form of the finest threads spun from nozzles, etc.
The only condition here is that the rubber is not vulcanized either before or after it is added; depending on the intended use of the compound, only light-weight, pure, fresh rubber is used, which makes the basic substance more elastic, sometimes in the form of microscopic or ultramicroscopic properties Balls, partly with elastic threads, completely interspersed, so that they gain elasticity and inner coherence through this buffer and network. By adding glycerine up to a third of the weight of the base substance, the mass can be kept moist and protected against drying out.
To reduce the internal friction and reduce the stickiness of the basic substance, the addition of solid fatty substances such as: stearin, ceresin, paraffin, ozokerite, whale rat, wax, etc. is necessary, which also increase the start of the solidification of the molten mixture.
Resin, amber, copal, dammar, sandarac, mastic, spruce resin, benzoin, etc., in solution or in one, are used to further increase the incipient solidification and to make the consistency of the mixture, especially when boiled, i.e. in the sol state, more pasty other forms that allow the finest distribution.
The entry respectively. Finest distribution of these substances in the base mass is most conveniently done by atomizing the solutions over the mass, which is vigorously agitated in an agitator, and then beating the mixture in a colloid mill. The nebulization can happen in any of the ways that are already used in industry, for example by spraying a thin jet of the high pressure solutions sharply onto a polished agate plate. This process is best carried out in a heated vacuum,
On the one hand to accelerate the fall of the mist, on the other hand to promote the rapid evaporation of the solvent, which can be recovered by suction and condensation.
The mass prepared in this way can also contain other bodies, the most important of which are: Bismutum subnitricum or a. other equivalent bismuth salt as a rot-resistant and tanning additive that influences the behavior of the mass against gypsum;
Various fiber materials such as silk, nettle, cotton, etc. serve to increase the physicality and the inner coherence of the mass, which makes it possible, especially when using the mass for sculpting purposes, to apply it with a brush or spatula to the undersides of the living model as well Apply vertical surfaces (for example, when taking a portrait impression on a seated living model) without the compound dripping off or running off.
The only condition is that the fibers are extremely delicate, i.e. not strong and hard like sheep's wool, and that they appear fully evenly distributed in the liquefied basic substance and are kept floating.
A compound for dental purposes composed in this way has, in its sol state, a putty-like or dough-like character, for example, so that it can be pressed into the tooth spoon and does not flow off the inverted tooth spoon; In its sol state it does not stick to the fingers and can therefore be kneaded in the hand like soft putty, in its sol state it is plastic like sculptor's clay.
Before it is used, it is boiled under steam pressure for two minutes in a specially constructed syringe and therefore sterilized at the same time; it is placed in the mouth without exerting any appreciable pressure on the teeth or the soft tissues of the jaws, the soft tissues not being squeezed away. , It freezes in the mouth, i.e. at body temperature, within a minute and a half. In the solidification, i.e. gel state, such a mass is elastically resilient, but in no way has a rubber character;
it is a mass of strong consistency that springs back after bending like that, but in contrast to rubber it is reversible, so that it can be converted into the sol state at any time, in which it is suitable for molding. It is suitable for realistically reproducing far-reaching distinctions in the oral cavity and of course also other undercuts, whereby these impressions are so precise that even the pores in the papillary lines of a fingertip are microscopically visible. In the gel state, it never endangers the patient's teeth or spare parts.
The mass has no unpleasant taste or smell and can be poured out with plaster of paris immediately after being brought out of the mouth without any preliminary preparation; it can be lifted off the plaster positive easily and without roughness, whereby it is not necessary to immerse or heat the negative and the plaster positive is never endangered either, since the negative is spring-loaded, so that it can be done with some skill is to use the same negative several times ..
Even if it is kept for a long time ... this mass does not go moldy or rot and it is reversibly stockable so that it can be repeatedly boiled so that it can be sterilized and reused at the same time.
It can also be placed in the mouth in the form of a small ball of dough in order to achieve an average functional impression by chewing.
The composition of the mass can be varied in many ways for purposes other than dental purposes and can be adjusted to specific purposes by means of various additives.
The mass can thus be used for sculpting purposes not only on the lying, but also on the sitting or standing living model, without pre-preparation of the skin, without tearing out hair, with open eyes and uninhibited natural nasal breathing, without the use of into the Quills inserted into the nostrils and similar aids for taking impressions on inanimate models without pre-preparation and without preparing caps (since the impression is not made by casting, but by applying with a spatula or brush), with extensive undercuts being molded,
thus making pieces unnecessary. It is advisable to use a mass with a solidification of only a few minutes instead of many hours, as with the glue-glycerine masses used up to now, for such impressions.
Other methods of the basic composition can be used for purposes of cosmetics, etc., since the observation showed a certain beneficial effect on the skin with a certain composition of the mass.
This effect on the skin is not medicated in the strict sense of the word, but is based on purely physical circumstances as an accessory. It is probably based on the one hand on a strong hyperaemia of the skin, on the other hand on the general irritation-relieving effect of the colloids and thirdly on a strong promotion of perspiration as a result of the microscopically seamless cover with simultaneous suction of the transpired moisture, secretions and pathogenic germs the hydrophilic colloidal blanket.
In addition to making impressions in the oral cavity, the paste in a doughy consistency can of course also be used for impressions in other body cavities, for example with the aid of suitable instruments to make an impression of the cervix in the vagina.
The consistency can be kept from the stiff dough down to the viscosity grade of honey, depending on the intended purpose. For functional tests in the mouth, for example, the stiffest dough will be just right, for cosmetic purposes in most cases a more liquid form will be appropriate.
The degree of consistency, respectively. Viscosity can be regulated very easily by low or extensive evaporation. The more thinly liquid masses are expediently not kept in cans but in tubes to ensure their sterility.
The ratio of the basic substance to the above-mentioned additives naturally fluctuates extraordinarily, depending on the purposes sought and the materials used. It depends, for example, on the degree of swelling of the gelatinous substances used, on the solubility of the resin, on the one used. Solvent, the degree of greasiness of the fatty substance, etc. Furthermore, the more liquid states of the mixture tolerate only small amounts of these additives, since they are less easily retained in the basic jelly in a semi-colloidal form.
In the stiff form of the dough, however, each individual addition should not usually exceed half the dry weight of the gall-forming basic substance, unless this basic substance has the capacity to fill it. capable of absorbing considerably more water than fifteen times its dry weight and at the same time forming a strong jelly.
There is of course no fixed limit to the relative weight of the additives, the mass only gradually gets worse and worse and loses its peculiar character. The ratio of the additional substances to one another is usually equal to one another, unless certain purposes offer a variation. In cosmetics, for example, the addition of resin will have to be reduced or, under certain circumstances, increased depending on the specific task.
