Device for cooling the piston of internal combustion engines. In the case of pistons of internal combustion engines, the. Pistons are cooled by flowing coolant, for example oil or water, the coolant in the cooling space through which it flows, if this is partially limited by the piston crown exposed to the combustion gases, decomposes or easily separates the heat-poorly conductive scale.
The invention relates to a device for cooling the piston of internal combustion engines by means of a coolant flowing through the piston and consists in the fact that the piston cavity flowing through the coolant is bounded by walls which are not directly exposed to the combustion gases.
Between the piston wall directly exposed to the combustion gases and the piston cavity through which the coolant flows, an air-filled space or an intermediate space can be arranged which is partially filled with a heat transfer medium remaining in it, which is the piston wall directly exposed to the combustion gases transfers absorbed heat to the coolant flowing through the piston cavity.
In the drawing, three Ausfüh approximately examples of the subject invention are shown schematically.
Fig. 1 shows a piston 1 in which a closed space 4 is arranged between the piston bottom 2 exposed to the combustion gases and the space 3. At this the supply line 5 and the line 6 from the coolant is connected. The heat is transferred on the one hand by radiation from the wall 2 to the intermediate wall 7, on the other hand by conduction via the piston skirt B. The heat transferred to the intermediate wall 7 is derived ver means of the coolant.
According to FIG. 2, the heat absorbed by the piston head 2 is transferred mainly through the ribs V, which are arranged between the piston head and the inner wall 8ldes of the annular cooling space 9. The coolant is fed in through line 5 and discharged through line 6.
Fig. 3 shows a piston in which between the piston crown? and the cooling space 13 is a closed space 10, which is partially filled with a heat transfer medium 11 remaining in it, for example aluminum chips. The piston head 2, which is directly exposed to the combustion gases, emits the heat to the transmission medium 11 enclosed in space 10, which transmits the same to the wall 12 of the cooling space 13. A coolant fed to the cooling space 13 through the line 5 and removed from the same through the line 6 serves to dissipate the heat.
What is achieved by the invention is that the circulating coolant, for example water or Ü1, only comes into contact with those parts of the piston wall that are not exposed to such high temperatures that the coolant is decomposed or residues can form which the Deteriorate heat dissipation.
