Description

Process for producing a soluble mercury compound. The main patent describes a process according to which a complex compound of antimony with pyrogallol disulfonic acid is obtained. Compounds of this type differ from ordinary salts of antimony in that they do not have a number of reactions of these salts. They contain the antimony in a more solid, so-called complex compound. These substances can be used as remedies, since in them, due to the stronger binding of the anti-mons, the harmful effects are suppressed compared to the healing effects.

It has now been found that the same conditions prevail when "resorcinol disulphonate potassium is reacted with mercury oxide.

The method is best carried out in such a way that resorcinol disulphonate is reacted with the required amount of the mercury compound in an aqueous solution, optionally with heating. Example: 36 grams of resorcinol disulphonic acid potassium are dissolved in 360 grams of water and mixed with a slurry of 15 grams of mercury oxide. The mercury oxide dissolves by stirring and heating on the water bath. The solution is filtered, if necessary, and evaporated to dryness.

The solution can also be treated with alcohol after it has been concentrated and the mercury complex compounds of the resorcinol disulfo-acidic potassium precipitate.

The product is a yellowish powder that dissolves gradually in the cold, faster when heated in water. Alkali and no mercury oxide fall out of the solution. It is used as a remedy against infectious diseases.
