Description
Verfahren zur Darstellung eines Laetams von 5-w-Aminomethyl-1.2.3-o-kresotinsäure. Es wurde gefunden, dass man nach dem im Hauptpatent beschriebenen Verfahren das Lactam der 5-m-Aminomethyl-1 . 2. 3-o-kreso- tinsäure herstellen kann, wenn man an Stelle des dort verwendeten Benzols o-Kresotin- säure verwendet.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 76 Teile o-Kresotinsäiire und 98 Teile to-Chlormethylphtalimid werden in 500 Teilen Nitrobenzol gelöst und unter Zugabe von 10 Teilen von als Katalysator wirkendem Chlorzink auf<B>80-1000</B> erhitzt. Nach Auf hören der Salzsäureentwicklung wird das Nitrobenzol mit Wasserdampf abgetrieben und der Rückstand aus Alkohol umkristalli siert.
Die 5-oa-Phtalimidomethyl-1. 2 . 3 - o - kresotinsäure schmilzt bei 238 . 104 Teile davon werden mit 111 Teilen Natronlauge von 40 B6 und 900 Teilen Wasser warm ge rührt, dann werden 260 Teile verdünnte Salzsäure zugesetzt und darauf heiss weiter gerührt bis zur Lösung.
Die erkaltete und von der auseueschiedenen Phtalsäure befreite Lösung versetzt man mit Sodaüberschuss, worauf die 5-m-Aminomethyl-1. 2. 3-o-kresotin- säure als inneres Salz zwischen der Amino- und der Karbonylgruppe, also als Lactain ausfällt.
Die erhaltene Verbindung bildet farblose Blättchen vom Schmelzpunkt<B>2590,</B> die in Wasser und kalter Natriumkarbonatlösung unlöslich sind. Sie soll als Zwischenprodukt bei der Darstellung von Farbstoffen Verwen dung finden.

The 5-oa-phthalimidomethyl-1. 2. 3 - o - cresotinic acid melts at 238. 104 parts of this are stirred warm ge with 111 parts of sodium hydroxide solution of 40 B6 and 900 parts of water, then 260 parts of dilute hydrochloric acid are added and the mixture is then further stirred until it dissolves.
The solution, which has cooled down and freed from the phthalic acid which has separated out, is mixed with excess soda, whereupon the 5-m-aminomethyl-1. 2. 3-o-cresotinic acid precipitates as the inner salt between the amino and carbonyl groups, ie as lactain.
The compound obtained forms colorless flakes with a melting point of <B> 2590 </B> which are insoluble in water and cold sodium carbonate solution. It should be used as an intermediate in the representation of dyes.
