Description

  Les trous 11 sont au moins au nombre de  deux de telle sorte que la tringle 8 puisse être  immobilisée dans deux positions; la première  de ces positions correspond à la position nor  male A des phares 1, c'est-à-dire à la posi  tion dans laquelle ces derniers doivent éclai  rer la. route à une grande     distance    du     v6hi-          cule;

      la deuxième position de la tringle 8 cor respond à la position B d'inclinaison des pha res, représentée en pointillé au dessin, c'est- à-dire à la position dans laquelle les phares doivent éclairer la route à une distance plus rapprochée du véhicule, de manière à em pêcher que l'intensité lumineuse n'éblouisse les conducteurs -d'autres véhicules, ou les pas sants; on peut ainsi, tout en conservant l'in tensité lumineuse maximale des phares pour éclairer la route, éviter les dangers dus à l'éblouissement.

  Device for tilting automobile headlights at will to prevent road users from dazzling. The object of the present invention is a device making it possible to tilt automobile headlights at will in order to prevent the dazzling of road users, the headlight support bar of which is arranged transversely with respect to the vehicle and pivots by its ends, said bar being able to be rotated so that one can, at will, tilt the headlights to project their light at a greater or lesser distance from the vehicle.

  The figures of the appended drawing show, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.

  Figs. 1 and 2 are respectively a plan view and a side view, the device being fixed to the mud flaps.

  The support bar 2 of the headlights 1 com carries a connecting arm 6 perpendicularly, the free end of which is articulated to the end of a control rod 8, the other end of the latter being provided with a handle 9 , in the form of a ring in which the fingers can be inserted. The rod passes freely through the apron 10 of the vehicle and furthermore has holes 11 into which a stop finger 12 fixed to the apron can penetrate.

  The holes 11 are at least two in number so that the rod 8 can be immobilized in two positions; the first of these positions corresponds to the normal position A of the headlights 1, that is to say to the position in which the latter must illuminate the. road a long distance from the vehicle;

      the second position of the rod 8 corresponds to the tilting position B of the headlights, shown in dotted lines in the drawing, that is to say to the position in which the headlights must illuminate the road at a distance closer to the vehicle, so as to prevent the light intensity from dazzling the drivers of other vehicles or passers-by; it is thus possible, while maintaining the maximum luminous intensity of the headlights to illuminate the road, to avoid the dangers due to dazzling.

  The embodiment of the device described may vary in its construction; for example, the supports supporting the bar supporting the headlights can be angle irons, one of the sides of which is pierced with holes perpendicular to each other and intended to receive the journals 3, so as to be able to fix the brackets in a good position on the mud flaps 5, depending on the shape of the latter, or else the headlight support bar may have holes making it possible to fix the headlights to it at spacings varied; finally, it is provided, instead of the handle 9, the use of a hand lever for actuating the rod 8 for actuating the headlight.
