Telephone installation allowing the charging of connections of different values. The invention relates to telephone installations and more particularly to installations allowing the charging of connections of different values.
According to the invention, the telephone installation comprises a switching device to determine the value of a connection and to operate after the telephone connection has been established so as to activate the counter of the calling station in a manner determined according to the invention. the value of the connection.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
The drawing shows on the left side a finish line terminating at the brushes of a VW preselector switch, which are arranged to choose a free IG W group selector, which is shown in the middle of the drawing between the dotted lines. On the right side of the drawing we see an outgoing VLi junction line, connected to the contacts of the IGYV group selector, to which a circuit containing the devices for activating the counters is associated.
These devices include a three-brush MS switch, which controls a subscriber's counter so as not only to determine the value of a call, but also to operate again at the start of the conversation, in order to activate the call. subscriber's counter in a manner determined by the connection established, this operation of the counter being for example effected by the transmission of a particular number of pulses. The switching device MS is also arranged to effect the release of the telephone connection when the connection has exceeded the duration determined by the value of the connection.
The installation shown operates as follows: When a preselector V W has chosen a group selector IGW in the known manner, the relays A., C and Tr - are actuated. Relay -. is the supply relay of the calling subscriber and its circuit extends through the two conductors of the subscriber line.
When the Tr relay housed in the VW preselector is energized, a battery is connected through the 1 (Tr) contact to the rolling relay of the Tr relay. The Z counter is connected in parallel, but it is not cannot be excited by the relatively small current flowing through winding I of relay C and the resistor connected in parallel with this winding.
When relays A. and C are energized, the following circuit is closed: earth; contact 3 (C), II winding of relay (C), contact 4 (.A), winding I of relay Vi, battery, earth. In this circuit the relay Vi is energized and among other things it opens contact 5 (Vi) by closing contact 6 (Vi). When relay C attracts its armatures, it opens contacts 7 (C) and 8 (C) and it closes contacts 9 (C) and 10 (C).
The selection of a level determined by the IGW group selector and the selection of a free outgoing line in that level are carried out in any known manner. When a free outgoing line, for example the VLi trunk line is found, the following circuit is closed: earth, winding I and II of relay P, contact 6 ( Vi), test brushes 11, contact 12, relay Ci, contact 13 (T), resistor 14, battery, earth. Relay P closes the conductors of the conversation line via contacts 15 (P) and 16 (P), and by short-circuiting its high resistance winding I to contact 17 (P) the chosen VLi junction line is then occupied for the other group selectors.
The devices operating the meter of the calling subscriber line are associated with the trunk line activated by the group selector. In the example shown, these devices comprise the switching device MS, which, as described below, functions as an auxiliary switch during the establishment of the connections, this switching device being operated by subsequent pulses, which serve to establish the connection. through other pulse switches. In this way, the auxiliary switch stops in a position corresponding to the charge of the traffic zone determined by the established connection.
After the establishment of a connection of particular value, this switching device, when the called subscriber answers the call, is again set in motion and it then determines the number of charging pulses to be transmitted to the meter. of the calling subscriber, and moreover the duration of the conversation. Establish zerd of a communication in the first zone of traffic.
When the calling subscriber transmits series of digit pulses for the purpose of continuing the establishment of the connection, relay A temporarily drops its armatures at each pulse in the known manner. By letting its fittings drop for the first time, relay A opens its contact 4 (A) and closes its contact 18 (A). By opening contact 4 (A), the short-circuit of relay V2 is eliminated.
When this relay operates, it opens its contact 19 (V2) and closes its contact 20 (V2), the following circuit then being closed: earth, battery, con tact 10 (C), resistance \? 1, contacts 20 (V @ ), 16 (P), brushes 22, contacts 23 and 24 (Bi), winding I of relay S, earth. Relay S operates by connecting a battery to conductor 28 connected with the next digit pulse receiver, the circuit extending through resistor 25 and contacts 26 (S ') and 27 (T).
During the series of pulses the Vs and S relays remain energized since the Z # - relay cannot drop out when it is momentarily short-circuited at each pulse by contact 4 (A). Contact 29 (A) is closed at the same time as contact 4 (A) is open, so that a pulse is transmitted to both, i.e. to the 111 S switch device associated with the line VL junction, and the next pulse receiver.
This impulse is transmitted through the circuit: earth, contacts 29 (A), 9 (C), 15 (P), brushes 30, contact 31, and then on one side through contact 32 (Vs), winding 1 from relay Ai, contact 33 (Bi), resistor 34, battery, earth, and on the other side through contact 35 (Bi), conductor 36 to the pulse receiving relay not shown of the following pulse switch .
For the description of the installation represented there is no need to consider the positioning of the connector devices accessible through the VLi junction line. Each time the contact 29 (A) is closed, the relay Ai receives a pulse through the circuit described, and it in turn retransmits this pulse to the electromagnet D of the positive switch device MS by closing the contact 37 ( Have). The circuit of the driving electromagnet extends as follows: earth, contacts 37 (Ai), (38 Vs), electromagnet D, battery, earth.
It is now assumed that the trunk lines to the first traffic zone are connected with the second group of contacts of the digital switch accessible through the trunk line VLi. In this case, the series of pulses to be transmitted, when the group selector IG W has been actuated, consists of two pulses, so that the brush 39 of the switching device 16IS, functioning as auxiliary switch, stops on the contact 40 corresponding to the first traffic zone. The series of pulses having ended, the relay S lets its armatures drop since the contact 20 (V2) is open as a result of the maintenance of the short-circuit of the relay V2 to the contact 4 (A).
Relay S closes at its contact 41 (S) the following circuit: earth, contacts 42 (Vs), 41 (S), brushes 39, contact 40, winding II of relay Ri, winding 1 of the relay R2, battery, earth. The relays Ri and R2 are part of a group of relays forming a recording device, which, when actuated by the auxiliary switch MS, continues to designate independently of said switching device MS the value of the connection. When the relays Ri and R2 are activated, they close among others the contacts (43 Ri), 44 (Ri) and 45 (R2), 46 (R2).
A relay Vs is switched on through contacts 43 (Ri) and 45 (R2) connected in parallel, while blocking circuits through the windings I of relays Ri and Ra, which have been prepared for contact 47 ( Ci) by energizing relay Cl, are closed by contacts 44 (Ri) and 46 (R2).
The relay Vs, at its contact 32 (Vs), disconnects the relay Ai of the upper conversation conductor, thus preventing the relay Ai from being influenced by other series of pulses to be transmitted by the calling station. The excitation circuit of relays Ri and R2 is interrupted by the opening of contact 42 (Vs). The relay Vs also closes its contact 48 (Vs), whereby the electromagnet D receives the impulses through the circuit: earth, battery, electromagnet D, contact 48 (V3), contact 49 (gnas), contacts 50 (Ci), 51 (Bi) SU switch, earth.
The electromagnet D moves the brushes 39, 65 and 82 of the auxiliary switch to their normal positions where said circuit is interrupted due to the opening of the contact 49 (Knas).
It should be noted that the switching operations are not started during or after the positioning of the switching device MS by a series of pulses transmitted by the calling station through the brushes 65 and 82, since the contact 14 (Bi) connected to the brush 65 is open, while with respect to the brush 82, this contact 81 (Vs) is only closed when the positioning has been completed, but the contact 184 (Ai) then being open.
In a following switching device, for example at the final selector, when the called subscriber answers, a battery is connected in some way to the conversation conductor 28. The relay Bi is then energized by the following circuit: battery (in a dis positive following switch, not shown), conductor 28, contacts 27 (T), 52 (S), bearing I of relay Bi, earth. The relay Bi opens its contact 24 (Bi) and closes its contacts 53 (Bi) and 54 (Bi).
When a communication in the first traffic zone has been established, the switching device MS is not affected by the closing of the contact 54 (Bi), since the relays Bi and R2 of said recording device have been energized and them. two contacts 55 (1%) and 56 (R2) connected in parallel in the starting circuit are open.
When a communication in the first traffic zone, for example from a subscriber of a local telephone office, has been established, the counter of the calling subscriber should only be activated once and therefore only once. of charging current is to be transmitted. This pulse can be produced independently of the switching device 161S. Since the duration of communications in the first traffic zone is not limited, which allows subscribers to con vers as they wish, it is also not necessary to activate the switch device MS again to limit the duration of the conversation.
At contact 57 (Bi) and independently of contact 32 (V3), relay Ai is connected to the conductor coming from the previous digital switch IGW. During the conversation, relay Ai is not energized, since no potential has been applied to IG IV (contact 29 (A) is open). Therefore, during communication, the relays Ci, Bi, Iii, R2, and V3 of the trunk line are energized.
When, at the end of the conversation, the calling subscriber hangs up his receiver, he opens the circuit of the supply relay A, which lets its armatures drop by short-circuiting to contact 18 (A) the II winding of relay C.
The following circuit is now closed: earth, battery, resistor 58, II winding of relay Vi, contacts 7 (C), 15 (P), brushes 30, contacts 31, 57 (Bi), winding I of relay Ai, contact 59 (Bi), earth. Although the circuit of relay bi through its winding I has been interrupted by the opening of contact 3 (C), this relay remains energized through its winding II in the circuit traced above. The relay Ai is activated and it energizes the relay Ti as follows:
earth, contact 64 (Bi), brushes 65 of the MS switching device, contacts 66, 6 7 (Ai), II winding of the relay (Ti), battery, earth. Relay Ti by closing its contact 62 (Ti) establishes the following circuit: earth, 60 h contact of IG fT; relay Zr, con tacts 8 (C), 19 (V2), 16 (P), brushes 22, con tacts 23, 53 Bi, Zr, i, 62 (Ti), < / I> resistance 63, battery, earth. Relay Zr, at its contact 68 (Zr), short-circuits resistor 2.
In this way, the current flowing through the brush 69 of the VW preselector and the Z counter is increased so that the latter is actuated, the communication thus being counted. At the same time the winding II of relay Vl is short-circuited by contact 70 (Zr).
The circuit through the Zr relay is maintained for some time, since the Zri relay cannot be switched on. Consequently, the relay T i lets its armatures drop by opening at contact 6 (V) the circuit through the winding II of the relay P and the winding of the relay Ci. The relay P is re-established and by opening contacts 15 (P) and 16 (P) it interrupts the circuits of relays Zr and Ai placed in IGW respectively at junction line VLi.
At the first group selector, when relay P is disconnected by opening the 6 V contact i, it triggers the connection by energizing the tripping electromagnet (not shown) of the group selector. This tripping electromagnet opens, at its 71m contact, the circuit through the II winding of relay Tr and counter Z. Relay Tr drops its armature and the preselector moves in its normal position in the known manner.
When contact 6T7 has been opened, the armatures of relay Ci of the junction line the Li drop out and disconnect all the energized relays by opening the blocking circuit of relays Rr and R2 of the recording device via the opening of its contact 47 (Ci). Restoring these relays causes the disconnection of relay 173.
The circuit of relay C having been opened, a circuit through conductor 28 and relay Bi has been opened in any way, and relay Bi lets its armatures drop. All the switching devices used and the switching means of the trunk line are now in their normal position.
Establishment of communication in the fifth traffic zone . Suppose now that the calling subscriber wishes to establish a connection with a subscriber connected to a telephone office in the fifth traffic zone, and that this zone can be reached through the fifth group of contacts of the first digital switch beyond the line. junction VLi.
The setting of the first group selector, when it is put into service, on a VLi junction line and the setting of the MS switching device, associated with this junction line, by a series of pulses transmitted by the calling subscriber, are carried out as described above. As the fifth traffic zone is reached through the fifth group of contacts of a digital switch, the calling party transmits a series of pulses comprising five pulses, thereby moving the brush 39 of the switching device, on contact 72.
At the end of this series of pulses, the relay R3 of the recording device is energized in the circuit: earth, contacts 42 (V3), 41 (S), brushes 39, contact 72, relay Rs, battery, earth.
Relay R3 closes at its contact 73 (R3) a blocking circuit through its winding which is dependent on contact 47 (Ci). Relay Ra also closes contacts 74 (R3), 75 (Rs) and 76 (Rs). The closing of the first two contacts is used to determine the charging current pulses to be transmitted by the 3IS switching device. Since the connection has been established to the fifth traffic zone, closing contact 74 (Rs) has no effect and at the end of the conversation a circuit is only established through contact 75 (Rs)
. The relay V3 is energized through the contact 76 R3 and it opens the contact 32 (Va) thus preventing the relay Ai from being affected by other series of pulses to be transmitted by the calling station. In the manner just described, the electromagnet D is connected by closing the contact 48 (V3) through the 49 Kms contact with the switch SU, and the switching device MS is brought to its normal position.
The charges for communications to traffic zones II to V are recorded by advancing the counter Z by several steps. The transmission of the required number of charging current pulses is effected by the switch device 111S. For communications with zone V this number is 5. In addition, the duration of the conversation for communications with traffic zones II to V is limited. This limitation is effected in a similar manner under the control of the switching device MS.
The communication being established and the chosen subscriber having answered, the relay Bi is again energized. The following starting circuit for the switching device MS is then closed: earth, battery, electromagnet D, contacts 48 (V3), 54 (Bi), 55 (Bi) or 56 (R2), 76 (Ti), 77 (UK). The 77 (UK) contact is actuated by a time switch or clock, and is closed, for example every 10 seconds. Three different cases can arise: 1 The subscriber recognizes that a false connection has been established.
The closing signal is given within a predefined time limit.
The conversation is terminated for the allowable conversation time and the receiver is hung up.
3 The conversation continues until the allowable conversation time is over. Communication is forcibly severed.
These three different cases will be considered separately below. 1 The closing signal is given within a predetermined time limit.
If the subscribers give the close signal within a predetermined time limit of 10 or 20 seconds, the counter of the calling subscriber must advance by one, regardless of the value of the established call.
During the predetermined time limit, the brush 65 of the switching device XS is located either on the contact 66 or on the contact 78. If, while the switching device MS is in this position, the relay Ai is energized, as a result of the closing signal given by the calling station and closing of contact 7 (C), to the first group selector, when relay C is reestablished, relay Ti is energized as described above, i.e. through contact 66 or through contact 78 in a closed circuit to contact 67 (9.i). The relay Ti causes the transmission of a charging pulse in the manner described for communication to the first traffic zone.
In addition, it opens at contact 76 (Ti) the circuit of the electromagnet D and in this way prevents the electromagnet D from being subsequently affected by the contact 77I: When the circuit of the relay Ci is open at contact 6 (Vi) by re-establishing relay Vi, relay Ci drops out and closes its contact 79 (Ci), whereby the following circuit of electromagnet D is closed, assuming that the switching device JUS is already placed on the first contact, and that brush 65 is on contact 78:
earth, battery, electromagnet D, contacts 79 (Ci), 49 Kms, 80 (Ci), winding II of the relay T, switch SU, earth. The electromagnet D turns the brushes of the switching device MS to their normal position. Thereupon the contact 49 Kms is open and the traced circuit is interrupted.
In order to prevent the junction line VLi from being taken into service during the restoration of the switching device M, S, the relay T whose winding II is, as described; in series with the electromagnet D, disconnects at contact 13 (T) the resistor and the battery of relay Ci. Consequently, a group selector in search cannot stop on junction line VLi until until contact 13 (T) is open.
The VL junction line, can only be put into service when the 11S switch has reached its normal position and the opening of the 49 Knts contact has interrupted the circuit through the D electromagnet. and the winding II of the relay T, by which the contact 13 (T) is closed.
If the switch still remains in its normal position, the brush 65 on the contact 66, when the contact 79 (Ci) is closed, the contact 40 bold still remains open and the circuit described above cannot be established.
2 The communication is finished before the allowed conversation time is completed. Suppose the close signal is given when the brushes of the 111S switch device are in the twelfth contact position.
When relay Ai is energized by re-establishing relay C placed in the previous group selector, the high speed switch SU is connected with the electromagnet D. The D electromagnet circuit extends as follows: earth, battery, electromagnet D, contact 81 (V3), brushes 82, contact 83 (82 is located on this contact in the positions 1 to 16 and 24), contact 184 (Al), switch SU, earth. On leaving the sixteenth contact position (contact 83), the brush 82 reaches the contact 84 (position 17 to 23). In this position the switch IU is put in circuit by replacing the switch SU.
In position 24 the electromagnet D again receives a current pulse from the switch SU and contact 85 (positions 25 to 30) is reached.
In the twenty-fifth contact position of the hIS switching device, the following circuit is closed: earth, contact 64 (Bi), brushes 65, contact 86, winding 1 of relay T, battery, earth. The Zri relay is in parallel with the T relay, but, being disconnected immediately at contact 90 (Ti) by the Ti relay switched on by the T relay at the contact 88 (T), it cannot work. In addition, the relay is blocked by contact 88 (T) in the following blocking circuit: earth, contacts 87 (Ci), 88 (T), winding 1 of relay T, battery, earth. Relay T also opens contacts 13 (T) and 27 (T) causing the following connector devices to be re-established.
But the relays Ci and the test relay P are not de-energized, since, with contact 13 (T) having been opened, the circuit of relay Ci and relay P located at the group selector IGW extends through contacts 92 (T), 93 (Ci) and resistance 25 to battery and earth. Despite the opening of contact 27 (T), relay Bi does not drop out prematurely, relay Bi being kept energized in the following circuit, until relay S is energized in the manner described below: earth , winding I of relay Bi, contacts 52 (S), 94 (T), 92 (T), 93 (Ci), resistor 25, battery, earth.
The transmission of the charging current pulses and the operation of the switching device MS are effected by the operation of the relays Ai, Ti, Zri and the electromagnet D. The energization of the relay Ti through contact 88 (T) causes the transmission of the first charging current pulse: earth, battery, resistance 63, contacts 62 (Ti), 61 (Zt-i); 53 Bi, 23, brushes 22, contacts 16 (P), 19 (, i), 8 (C)., Relay Zr contact 60 K, earth. The relay Zr @, by closing its contact 68, controls the circuit of the counter Z of the calling subscriber in the manner described.
At the same time the electromagnet D receives an impulse in the following circuit: earth, battery, electromagnet D contact 81. (Vs), brushes 82, contact 37 (Ai), earth. The switching device MS moves to the contact position 26. In addition, the electromagnet closes its contact 95 D, bypassing the relay Ti, which drops out by switching on the relay Zri through its contact 90 ( Ti). The Zri relay is actuated and opens the contact 61 (Zri), thereby interrupting the emission of the charging current. Winding I of re lais Ai is short-circuited to contact 91 (Zri). Relay Ai drops out when contact 37 (Ai) is opened.
By this, the electromagnet D is caused to re-establish and open the contact 95 (D). With the short-circuit removed from its winding I, the relay Ti is actuated again.
The cycle is now starting again. The excitation of the Ti relay is followed by. disconnection of the Zri relay at contact 90 (Ti). Zri falls back transmitting the second charging current pulse. The opening of the contact 91 (Zri) causes the energization of the relay Ai, and consequently the motor electromagnet D receives an impulse through the contact 37 (Ai). At its contact 95 (D) the electromagnet D short-circuits relay Ti, which drops out by opening contact 62 (Ti) and closing the contact 90 (Ti).
The Zri relay is now actuated again in the earth, contacts 87 (Ci), 88 (Ti), relays Zri, battery, earth, and it opens contact 61 (Zr,) and closes contact 91 Zri), etc. The other three charging current pulses are produced as described.
The fifth charging current pulse being transmitted, the switching device MS moves to the contact position 30. As a result, when the brush 65 reaches the contact position 30, the relay S is energized through its winding II as follows: earth, contact 64 (Bi), brush 65, contacts 97 and 75 (R3), II winding of relay S, battery, earth. Relay S is actuated and it opens, at its contact 52 (S), the circuit of relay Bi. The latter falls back and, among other things, it opens contacts 53 (Bi) and 59 (Bi), at the same time closing contacts 24 (Bi) and 33 (Bi).
Relay Ai is now connected through resistor 34 with the same battery pole as winding II of relay Vi. As a result, the relays Ai and Vi fall back. In addition, relay Zr cannot be energized again, with winding 1 of relay S switched on through contact 24 (Bi) being connected with earth in a similar manner to relay Zr.
For the moment the positive switch 111S is stopped by the re-establishment of the relay Ai, while by the re-establishment of the relay Vi located at the first group selector the re-establishment of the first group selector I (IW and the VW preselector is caused in the same way In addition, reestablishing relay Vi interrupts the circuit of relay Ci of junction line VLi by opening contact 6 (Vi), and this relay drops out by opening contact 47 (Ci) and thereby interrupting the blocking circuit of the energized relay Ra of the recording device.
Relay Bs opens the circuit of relay Vs at contact 76 (Ra). In addition, the relay opens its contacts 79 (Ci) and 80 (Ci), and the switching device MS moves to its normal position in the manner just described above. The winding II of the relay T is again put in circuit with the electromagnet D. Consequently and despite the opening of contact 87 (Ci) the relay remains energized, and it maintains the battery through a resistor 14 disconnected from the test contact 12 until the switch device MAS 'has reached its normal position.
It can be seen from the above description that the switching device MS causes the transmission of the charging current pulses during the second part of its contact positions 25 to 30, which begins when the called subscriber answers the call.
3 The subscriber converses until the maximum allowed duration of conversation has ended < / I> and the connection is then forcibly released . Shortly before the expiration of the conversation time limit, the device com The mutator MS turns on a device producing a buzzing buzz, which announces to the subscribers in communication that the connection is going to end.
When the brush 65 reaches the seventeenth contact position, i.e. contact 100, the following circuit is closed through the bearings II of the relays Ai and Bi, used in the transmission of the humming device producing the buzzing 101, winding II of relays Ai and Bi, contact 100, brushes 65, contacts 64 (Bi), earth. The current producing the hum is induced in the windings Ides relays Ai and Bi and in this way made audible in the receivers of the subscribers in communication.
If, despite this buzzing, the subscribers do not hang up their receiver, the connection is forcibly released when the twenty-fifth contact position is reached, that is to say when the brush 65 reaches the contact 86, since relay T is then actuated in the manner described by opening contact 27 (T) and switching on relay Bi in the following local circuit: earth, Bi, 52 (S), 94 (T), 92 (T), 93 (Ci), 25, battery, earth.
Relay T again energizes relay Ti which in turn opens contacts 79 (Ti) and 90 (Ti) and closes contact 62 (Ti). As relay Ai has not been activated so far, its contact 37 (Ai) is still open. Consequently, the switch device MS remains in the contact position 25 until the closing signal is given by the relay Ai when, at the station of the calling subscriber, the receiver is on-hook, this signal affecting the positive switch of the VLi junction line. Until this moment the calling subscriber receives the buzzing,
since the circuit of the windings II of relays Ai and Bi is closed at contact 103 (Ti).
With relay 41 having been activated when the close signal is given, the transmission of the charging current pulses and the re-establishment of the connector devices used is now carried out in the manner just described.
It follows from what has been said above, that the first part of the second operation of the switching device MS, which started when the called subscriber answers the call, determines the permitted duration of the conversation, and moreover that the second part of this operation causes the transmission of the charging current pulses.
Establishment of communications in the traffic zones II, III, IV.
The trunk lines going to a telephone office in the II traffic zone are connected to the fourth group of contacts of the digit pulse receiver accessible through the trunk line VL ,. Consequently, the relays Bz and fia, which designate the second traffic zone in the recording device, are connected with the contact 100 of the bank of contacts scanned by the brush 39 of the switching device 1115. When these, two relays are when actuated, they close contacts 74 (R3) and 111 (R2). Thus the winding II of the relay S is connected with the contact 112 of the contact bank swept by the brush 65.
Contact 112 represents the twenty-seventh contact position of the switching device. As a result, the relay S is actuated when two charging pulses have been transmitted. These two pulses advance the counter of the calling subscriber by a number of units corresponding to the value of the communication of the traffic zone IL The excitation of the relay S through the contact 112 prevents the transmission of other charging pulses, since relay Bi is disconnected at contact 52 (S) and in this way, contacts 61 (Zri) and 62 (T) are disconnected at contact 53 (Bi) of the lower conversation conductor.
The traffic zone III is designated to the recording device by the fact that only the relay Ri is energized. This is done when the series of pulses affecting the switching device MS consists of a single pulse, and when the brush 39 stops on contact 115. The brush 39 stopping on contact 115, whereby the relay R2 is excited, indicates that the called subscriber belongs to the telephone office located in the fourth traffic zone.
From the preceding description, it can be seen that the switching device is removed from the influence of the switching means (Bi) operating at the start of the communication only for communications with the first traffic zone, since for communications of any other value the contact 55 (Ri) or the contact 56 (R2), connected in parallel in the starting circuit of the switching device 111S, is closed.
In the example shown, it has been assumed that the counter comprises an electromagnetically actuated "step by step" switching device and that for this it is actuated by a predefined number of pulses. But any other kind of meter can be used, for example electrolytic meters or meters similar to current meters. In these cases, the counters will be activated by switching on a current of a certain amplitude corresponding to the value of the communication.
Then the arrangement would be such that the recording device would put, in accordance with the way in which it is operated, more or less large resistances in the charging circuit, this latter being closed by the switching device MS, when charging should start.
In the example described above, it has also been assumed that the devices actuating the meters are connected to the junction line accessible through the first group selector. It is obvious that the devices operating the meters can also be placed at any other point of the installation. For example they can be linked to the first group selector itself. In telephone networks comprising main telephone offices and intermediate telephone offices, they can be associated with the outgoing ends of trunk lines accessible through preselector devices.
In addition, they can be placed in some other connection step, for example after a second or a third group selector.
