Cutting machine. The present invention relates to an easily transportable cutting machine making it possible to cut off logs on site and constructed in such a way that it can be operated very easily by a single man and without any risk of accident for the latter.
The machine according to the invention is constituted by a two-wheeled trolley, made of steel tubes, provided with a single pro stretcher running along one of the longitudinal sides of the platform of the trolley, along which the stretcher is arranged. blade of the saw driven by a motor carried by the carriage. When the machine is in working position, this bran card can rest on the piece of wood to be cut and a movable wedge sliding along a tube frame welded to this bran card can ensure as good a balance as possible. from the whole.
The stretcher can carry at its end a slide solidary with a lever and maneuvering, on the one hand, an anchoring claw and, on the other hand, a toothed lever between which the piece of wood is clamped and securely held. to work. In addition, at the rear part of the. platform can be mounted a dirty transverse wheel, which is raised and does not touch the ground while the trolley is moving.
This wheel can, by the operation of a hand lever, slide along vertical guides, come into contact with the ground, then lift the whole of the carriage and of its side wheels. This wheel can thus form an anchoring spade during work and, moreover, make it possible to move the whole of the machine transversely along the part to be cut.
One embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings, in which FIG. 1 is an elevational view of the whole machine; Fig. 2 is a plan view; Fig. 8 is a detail view of the control mechanism of the transverse wheel, and FIG. 4 is a view in elevation of the members for holding the piece of wood and of their control mechanism.
The frame 1 of the machine, entirely made of steel tubes welded to the autogenous, wedge-carries a platform 2 mounted on two wheels 3, on which is placed the motor .1, electric for example, controlled by the through gears and connecting rods the movements of the saw 5. On the front part of the platform is fixed laterally a single stretcher 6, also made of steel tubes, along which the blade is disposed on the outside. saw 5. This stretcher, which is suitably braced by spacers such as 7, comes to rest, when the machine is in the operating position, on the tree trunk to be cut off 8.
A frame 9 parallel to the stretcher 6 and connected to the latter serves as a slide for a movable wedge 10 making it possible to obtain as perfect a balance as possible of the device, On the rear part of the the. platform is mounted a transverse wheel 11 (fig. l; and 3), the axle 12 of which is integral with a slide 13 which can slide along a guide 14 fixed on the frame 1. A hand lever 15, arranged between the rear of the platform 2 and the wheel 11, is articulated at its end at 16 on the frame 1; in addition, it is provided with a groove in the form of a circular arc 17 in which a solid lug lb carried by the slide 13 is placed.
The end of the lever between the groove 17 and the tip of the suspension 16 is in the shape of a circular arc. A rack-and-pinion locking system, not shown, makes it possible to retain the lever 15 in all the desired positions.
The operation of this part of the positive device is as follows: the device resting on the ground by its two wheels 3 and the end of the stretcher 6 resting on the tree trunk 8, the wheel 11 is raised and does not touch not the ground (position shown at 11 in fig. 3). When the machine is in the position before the shaft to be cut, the lever 15 is lowered, which pivots around the axis 16, driving the slide 13 through the lug 18 and the wheel 11 which touches the ground.
From this moment if one continues to act on the lever 15, the. wheel 11 forms a fulcrum and the If - handle pivots around the lug 18 lifting the entire chassis: the wheels 3 are thus raised above the ground and it is possible to move the whole apparatus the Ion-, the, piece of wood 8 which is always heavy and difficult to handle.
The wheel 11 thus forms a spade and blocks the machine during work. In addition, it allows the device to be moved transversely in front of the. log.
On the front part of the stretcher 6 formed of two superimposed tubes can slide a slide 19 (wire-. 4) carrying an axis 20 wi- tollr which can pivot a lever 21. At the lower part of the slide is articulated in 2? a connecting rod ?: 3 coupled, on the other hand, at 21 on a part 25 which can pivot around a point 26 of the frame and carries teeth 27 on the front part which must come into contact with the. piece of wood 8. This piece 25 also carries two lugs 28 and 29 penetrating into grooves 30 and 31 which are formed daiL # legs such as 32 and 33 integral with the shoe foot 3-1 which can come to rest on the ground.
The lever 21 is bent and carries it its elbow an axis 35 clans which can hook a curved rod terminated by a claw 36. The axis 35 can be hooked depending on the size of the trunk 8 in one or the other of a series of notches 3 7 (fig. 1 ) cut along the lower edge of the claw 3.6.
The operation is as follows: the machine is placed in front of the piece of wood, the end of the stretcher 6 which is fitted with teeth 38 resting on the trunk. At this time, the claw 36 or the jaw 25 is in contact with the trunk. We act. then on the lever 21 by folding it in the direction of arrow 39. The slide moves forward or backward until the two holding pieces, claw 36 and jaw \? 5, enter the wood which is thus firmly held.
The worker in charge of driving the machine stands alongside the stretcher f; op posed with the saw 5: it can therefore maneuver freely and without danger, which is not the case with devices with two currently existing legs. The saw's electric control units can be placed at the front of the platform and thus be within easy reach of the operator.
