Description

Process for the preparation of a soluble acidic calcium salt of inositol phosphoric acid. It has been found that a soluble acidic calcium salt of inositol phosphoric acid can be obtained by separating the saturated calcium salt of inositol phosphoric acid from the aqueous solution of the alkali metal salts of inositol phosphoric acid with a calcium compound and solving this as the acidic calcium salt of inositol phosphoric acid and the latter falls with alcohol.

You can start from both acidic and saturated alkali metal salt of inositol phosphoric acid.

Example: 1 kg of the saturated sodium salt of inositol phosphoric acid is dissolved in about 4 liters of water and calcium chloride solution or milk of lime is added until there is no more precipitate. The precipitate is pressed off, washed well with water, suspended in water and brought into solution by adding hydrochloric acid until a Congo blue reaction occurs. This solution is precipitated with alcohol, the precipitate is washed well with alcohol and dried in vacuo.

The pure white, water-soluble powder thus obtained contains 21.610% phosphorus and 13.48% calcium.

The procedure is exactly the same if one starts from the acidic sodium salt of inositol phosphoric acid.
