7 montre schématiquement les positions correspondantes de trois aiguilles voisines IV' IV' IV' et des trois paires de passettes coopérantes<I>J'</I> Ii' <B><I>J I-</I></B> Ii 2 J3 Ii 3.
Se référant maintenant à la fig. 17 qui représente le mécanisme servant à produire le mouvement de va-et-vient des passettes dans un plan perpendiculaire à celui du dessin de la fig. 2, la plaque j est fixée à une barre j2 mobile dans une glissière du métier;
A method of manufacturing a warp knitted fabric, which cannot be spun and warp knitting for the implementation of this method. This invention relates to a method of manufacturing a warp knitted fabric,. unwearable, a warp knitting machine for the implementation of this process and a fabric manufactured according to this process.
By knitted fabric. “Non-slip” means a fabric whose tears remain localized at the meshes surrounding the tear, that is to say whose broken thread (s) do not pass over the entire length of the fabric.
Warp knitwear is already known, for example the "atlas", the "Milanese" more or less unscrambling.
According to the method which is the subject of the invention, the fabric undergoing formation is kept strongly stretched longitudinally on the needles of the loom and a closed loop is formed with each thread in which several of the other threads pass and intersect; these loops being arranged in longitudinal lines and each of them being tightened so

The chain loom for carrying out the method comprises brackets in the form of hooks which receive from two cams with adjustable lugs a back and forth movement of relatively large amplitude in the direction of the needles, by support bars. feeders which receive from two cams a combined back and forth movement in the direction of the needles and transversely in relation to the bed of the latter, of relatively large amplitude, and by a roller, controlled by a ratchet mechanism and ratchet,. on which the fabric is wound under tension as it is formed.
The warp fabric produced according to the process comprises - longitudinal stripes of closed loops, formed by two series of threads, each loop being formed by at least one thread and several of the other threads passing and interweaving in each of them which are tight in order to make the fabric unthread, the stitches of the plates being relatively long so as to make transparent the fabric which is elastic in the direction of its length and in the direction of its width. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of this knitting trade and an execution faith-deny of the fabric obtained.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view, on an enlarged scale, of the reverse side of this embodiment of the fabric; Figs. 2 to 6 are schematic elevational views showing a cycle of the relative positions of the yarns and of the moving members of the loom at five different times during the formation of a row of stitches; Figs. 7 to 11 are schematic front views of the needles, corresponding to fi-. 2 to 6; The fi'-. 12 to 17 are detail views. The threads marked with the odd numbers 1, 3, 5 (fig. 1) are passed through the eyes of a set of guides Ii fixed to a support k.
Those designated by the even numbers 2, 4, 6 are passed through the eyes of another set of passettes J fixed to a support j. By following one of the threads, for example the one marked 3 (which is hatched), we see that it forms a series of closed loops. At the crossing points: 1 and .T, it is with thread 2, traced with threads 1 and 4, while at points <I> C and D </I> it is with thread 6, interlaced with wires 4 and â. Thus the wire 3 is interwoven directly with the wires 1, 4 and 5.
In the detailed figures 2 to 11,? V denotes a holder: needle in which the needles are fixed II: This needle holder is fixed and bolted to the frame of the loom. In fig. 2 a plate holder v 2t to which plates in the shape of a hook x are attached, is located at a certain distance from the frame; a press 19 is separated from the needles IV and the passers J and Ii are in their lowest position.
Fig. 7 schematically shows the corresponding positions of three neighboring hands IV 'IV' IV 'and of the three pairs of cooperating passettes <I> J' </I> Ii '<B> <I> J I- </I> </ B > Ii 2 J3 Ii 3.
After a fraction of a turn of the motor shaft, the parts are in the position shown in figs. 3 and 8. The plate holder u tY and the pressure 19 have not moved from their position shown in fig. 2, but the guides <I> J and </I> h are mounted and have been moved laterally in the opposite direction (fig. 8) by the device shown in fig. 17, which is described below.
With respect to the observer, in this movement h has approached and J has moved back by a distance corresponding to the space between two needles IV or (which amounts to the same thing) between two plates .x, since a needle is placed between each pair of plates.
As the movement continues, the plate holder 2t <I> v </I> approaches the frame of the loom and the guides J and Ii descend, bringing the threads above the level of the needles, as shown in figs. . 4 and 9.
The plate holder zt <I> v </I> then begins to move away from the frame, while the press 19 is lowered and presses on the needles II ', then it is raised at the same time as the guides (fig. 5 and 10), but the stitches cannot leave the needles, since the press 19 is pressing on them.
The hooks - x are then completely free from the wires and the plate holder v continues to move away from the frame of the loom. The hooks of the needles being kept closed by the press, this movement of the plate holder has the effect of freeing the stitches from the needles. The press being then raised and the passettes descending, the position shown in FIGS. 6 and 11 is reached.
In the complete movement carried out so far, the threads passing through the eyes of the loops J 'J2 J3, have passed respectively under and over the needles as follows:
that of J1 under IV 'and on II' =, that of J2 under IV 'and on <B> IV' </B> and that of J3 under IV '\ and on TVI, while the threads passing through the eyes of the guides <I> Ii '</I> Ii I' and Iii have passed respectively:
that of Ii 'under IIr2 and on IV', that of Ii = under IV3 and on IV2, that of Ii 3 under <B> IV '</B> and on <B> IV' </B> and a rank of mesh was formed.
In the formation of the next row of stitches, the back and forth movements of the passettes and their movement towards and away from the needles are repeated exactly as described with reference to fig. 2 to 11, but the movements of lateral displacement of the guides at the different phases take place in directions opposite to those which have been described, that is to say that the threads passing through the eyes of the guides J1 JI J3 are passed respectively:
that of J1 under W2 and on W 1, that of J2 under W3 and on W a and that of J3 under W4 and on W3, while the threads passing through the eyes of the guides K 1 KZ É s respectively passed that of .K 1 under IV 'and on W2, that of K2 under W2, and on 1V3,
that of g3 under W3 and on W4.
It should be observed that the J and K passettes have a movement of a relatively large vertical and horizontal amplitude compared to the loom, as well as the <I> u </I> and <I> v. </I> plate holders. These movements are controlled by the mechanism explained below.
Referring now to Figs. 12 and 13, a designates the camshaft of a rectilinear sorting machine on which are wedged the cams <I> bcdef </I> g <I> h </I> and the control pulley i serving to the transmission of the various movements.
The movements of approach and removal of the passette holders jk, of which the eyes of the passettes J and K serve to guide the threads dl and ml coming from the hoses l and <I> m, </I> are controlled by means of the cam c which, by pressing on a roller n, causes the pivoting of a lever o articulated in o1 (fig. 13).
Near its upper part, this lever carries an arm p of adjustable length, itself connected by means of a connecting rod or rod q to a spring r to which the bars j k are subject. The latter is raised by the action of the cam d on a ga let s carried by a lever <I> t </I> articulated in <I> t 1 </I> to the frame of the loom and on the 'free end of which rests the support r.
The lifting of the 2s <I> v </I> plates holder which carries the brackets x is obtained by means of the cam e which, by means of the y roller, rotates the lever z around its axis z1 . The relatively large amplitude back-and-forth movement of said stage carrier u <I> v </I> in the direction of the needles (fig. 2-6) is obtained by means of cams fg (fig. 12 and 14). The first acts, via the roller 2, on the lever 3, articulated in 4; the second acts by lever 5 on lever 6, also articulated at 4.
The levers 3 and 6 are interconnected by an arm 7 bent at right angles to its end 8, and a spring 9 interposed between this bent end and a boss 10 of the lever 3, serves to compensate for the play produced by wear. and ensures the desired smoothness in the movement. The transmission of the back-and-forth movement to the stage carrier te <I> v, </I> takes place by means of an adjustable connecting rod <B> Il </B> whose heads 12, 13 are connected respectively to the lever 6 and to a boss 14 of the plate holder u.
To obtain a transparent fabric, the stitches of -platines are lengthened, that is to say, a certain length of thread is left between each pair of loops. This lengthening is produced on the one hand, by the lifting movement caused by the cam d as well as by the back and forth movement of the plate holders u <I> v </I> caused by the cams <I> f </I> and g, these movements being all of relatively large amplitude.
The cams f and g each have an adjustable radial cleat 15 housed in a cavity 16 of the cam. Threaded set studs 17 and set screws 18 are provided to secure the adjustable cleat in its fixed position. Said cams come into action to produce the picking (fig. 6, 2, 3 and 4) and when the stitches are about to be pushed out of the needles, immediately after the position shown in fig. 5 and 10.
The press 19 is controlled by the cam h which communicates a plunging movement to it by means of a roller 20 carried by a lever 21 suspended at 22 and the other end of which is fixed to the support of the press. The latter is raised by a spring 23 hooked on the one hand to the end of the lever 21 and, on the other hand, to a hook 24 of the loom.
Referring now to fig. 17 which represents the mechanism used to produce the reciprocating movement of the passettes in a plane perpendicular to that of the drawing of FIG. 2, the plate j is fixed to a movable bar j2 in a slide of the loom;
the plate k is supported by a similar bar The bar j = is carried by an arm j 3 articulated to a bracket j 'fixed on a connecting rod j5, while the bar k' is carried by an arm k <I> 3 < / I> articulated to a bracket <I> the 4 </I> fixed to a connecting rod <I> k '</I> parallel to the connecting rod <I> j' </I> and mobile in the same slide.
Each of the connecting rods j J <B> j5 </B> carries at its end a roller jk <B> "</B> on which a Dawson wheel j 'k - # rests. These two Dawson wheels are wedged on the same shaft which is subjected to an intermittent rotational movement The periphery of each of these Dawsons is notched, the depth of each notch corresponding to the distance which separates two consecutive needles II- ', the total depth corresponding to twice this distance.
The multiplication ratios are calculated so that at each turn of the tree <I> a </I> the tree carrying the Dawsons i 'k' describes an angle such that the passettes effect what is indicated above like a complete movement.
It should be noted that each advance of the connecting rod j 'relative to the wheel j Î corresponds to a retreat of the connecting rod k' relative to the wheel k 'and vice versa. The rollers j 'and <B> le' </B> are kept pressed on the periphery of the corresponding discs by springs j \ and the 'attached to a part fixed to the frame of the loom.
The fabric is wound up on a roller 26 provided with ratchet teeth 27 with retaining dog 28 and drive pawl 29. The latter is controlled by a lever 30 articulated at 31 and carrying at its end a roller 32 actuated by the cam b.
In known knitting machines, there is a device for lifting the roller <B> 26, </B> arranged so as to exert no longitudinal tensile force on the fabric. In the present loom, on the contrary, a strong pull is exerted on the fabric, with the aim of stretching the longitudinal threads in order to thus contribute to the elongation of the stitches and to ensure the tightening of the loops. To this end, the ratchet 27 with fine teeth is used for winding the fabric.
The longitudinal tension exerted on the fabric during its formation and its winding on the roller as indicated above takes place simultaneously with a tension of the threads passing on the needles during the formation of the rows of stitches. When the stitches are pushed out of the needles, this cross tension on the fabric decreases as the rows of stitches move away from the stitches. Therefore, the width of the finished fabric is significantly less than that at the needles during stitch formation.
As a result, the fabric is very stretchable laterally; it can be stretched to the full width it had at its production at the seams. Where the fabric is. removed from the roll on which it is wound on the loom and the longitudinal tension is thus removed, the fabric contracts longitudinally and can subsequently be stretched again to its original length. Thus, the fabric is slightly elastic longitudinally and very elastic laterally. This property makes the fabric particularly suitable for the manufacture of stockings and other stretchy underwear.
For the manufacture of this fabric, according to the present process, a twisted yarn is preferably used on the left during its spinning, that is to say whose filaments or strands are twisted together so as to faith-deny the turns of which the step is to the left, this because we have found that such. yarn gave a stronger and more regular fabric.
