Description

Protective insert for pneumatic tires of bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles and methods of manufacturing the same. As is known, it often happens that the pneumatic tires of bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles are damaged by nails or the like.

This drawback is to be remedied by the present invention. The same relates to a protective insert for pneumatic tires of bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles and a method for making the same position.

The novelty of the protective insert according to the invention is that it is made from fiber material.

According to the process for producing the protective insert, the fiber material is twisted into ropes, the latter braided, the whole thing pressed and impregnated against moisture.

In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment of a protective insert formed according to the invention is shown in a view.

The protective insert shown is made of wood wool, namely the loose wood wool is twisted into ropes. As can be seen in the drawing, three such ropes (a, b and c) are braided, then the whole glass is pressed, e.g. B. suspended between two rotating rollers, so that the braid is a little wider and more compact. As then the braid is impregnated, e.g. B. with linseed oil to protect it from moisture.

The protective insert produced according to the method described offers the advantage that it is comparatively little bulky, very light, elastic and so resistant that nails or the like usually cannot penetrate through it. The protective insert is placed between the tire and the blanket.

Tests have shown that wood wool is very suitable for the purpose described. Instead of wood wool, however, other fibers could also be used, mainly long-fiber materials, e.g. B. Textile fibers that are easy to braid.
