Molelzularluftpumpe.
Molecular air pump. The present invention relates to a molecular air pump. Such pumps are introduced by Gaede and are used to generate a very high vacuum.
Gaede suggested (see: Annalen der Physik, Volume 41, page 337) to use an impeller built into a stationary cylindrical housing, the housing being provided with a spiral groove on its inner surface and the direction of rotation of the impeller being such that the pumped gas is forced in the longitudinal direction of the pump; along the aforementioned groove to flow towards the outlet opening connected to an auxiliary air pump.
The purpose of the present invention is to create an improved molecular air pump which has a better efficiency and with which the required vacuum can be generated significantly faster.
According to the invention, the present molecular air pump, which is provided on one of the opposite surfaces of an impeller housing and an impeller with a spiral-shaped groove extending from an inlet to an outlet opening, is characterized in that the cross-sectional area of the said groove in its course gradually tapers from the inlet to the outlet.
In the accompanying drawing, which shows some exemplary embodiments of the present invention more or less schematically: FIG. 1 is an axial section through a cylindrical pump, and FIG. 2 is a vertical cross section of the pump along line 2-2 of FIG. 1; 3 is an axial section through a flat disc pump and FIG. 4 is an interior view of that taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3. split barrel housing.
According to the -Fig. 1 and 2, to which reference is first made, the pump has a fixed, cylindrical impeller housing 10 which is closed at its ends by means of the cover 11. A tube 12 located halfway along the impeller housing opens into the interior of the housing and forms the connection between a container to be emptied and the pump, i. H. the drilling 12 forms the feed device to the pump.
The curved inner surface of the impeller housing is provided with two spirally extending grooves 13 thereon, which have opposite slopes and extend from the supply pipe 12 to the ends of the housing. As illustrated, these grooves have a substantially rectangular cross-section and are characterized in that the cross-sectional area of each groove gradually tapers from the entry to the exit end of the groove.
This tapering of the cross section can be achieved in different ways, for example by reducing the width or the depth or both of these thickenings. It is clear that the grooves need not have a rectangular cross-sectional shape, but can also have a curved, semicircular, oval or any other cross-section suitable for production. The end face of the spirally extending ribs 14,
which form the partition between two adjacent windings, the impeller is opposite and is arranged so that the pump works in the known manner; there is only a small margin between the end face of the ribs and the impeller, for example 0.01. up to 1.05 mm, available. The two ends of the impeller housing are finitely connected to the discharge from the pump, denoted by 15 in FIG. 2, the tube 15 in a channel 16 extending in the longitudinal direction of the housing and communicating at both ends with the interior of the housing flows out.
The impeller consists of a simple cylindrical part 17 and is mounted on a shaft 18 which runs in the ball bearings 19 arranged in the covers 11 of the impeller housing. One of the two bearings 19 is provided with a closed cover 20, which forms an airtight closure, while the other bearing is provided with a suitably sealed sleeve 21 by means of which the drive member 22 actuating the shaft 18 and the impeller is connected airtight becomes. The sleeve 21 can be sealed by means of consistent grease or some other material in order to ensure a tight connection with the organ 22.
In the modified construction shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the impeller housing 23 has the shape of a flat cylinder and is provided with a flat spiral groove 24 on one of its inner surfaces. One end of the groove is connected to the supply line 25 and its other end finite to the Ablei device 26 leading to the auxiliary pump. The groove tapers in such a way that it becomes gradually smaller from the inlet to the outlet opening; the cross-sectional shape of the groove can be any.
The impeller. 27 is in the form of a thin disk and sits on a shaft 28 which runs in the ball bearings 29 arranged in an attachment 30 of the impeller housing.
The above-mentioned tapered groove respectively. Grooves (Fig. 1-4) can be provided after Be love on one or the other of the two directly opposite surfaces of the impeller housing and the impeller, and in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the groove can be on two inner end faces of the impeller housing are provided so that both flat surfaces of the impeller are effective. The grooves could also be provided on both flat sides of the impeller.
FIG. 3 also illustrates a drive to the impeller, which of course can also be used in the embodiment shown in FIG.
According to Fig. 3, the impeller housing 23, I0 is provided at the open end of the part 30 with an airtight capsule 31, in wel cher a magnetic armature 32 is installed. This armature 32 is attached to an extension of the impeller shaft 28 in order to be able to drive the same. The housing 31 is made of non-magnetic material. Outside this housing, the stator 33, which forms an asynchronous motor with the armature, cooperates with the armature 32 and actuates it magnetically.
With this arrangement, it is not necessary to pass the drive shaft of the impeller 27 through the Laufi-ad housing, whereby all difficulties to achieve a good seal are eliminated, in which the impeller housing, apart from the inlet and outlet openings 25, 26, is fully closed.
The armature could also be installed in the impeller housing itself instead of in a special capsule.
As can be seen from the above, the impeller is stored in the various pump designs described above in Ku gel bearings, which are either arranged inside the impeller housing or are in open connection with the same.
In view of the fact that ball or roller bearings can be provided which run either without lubricant or without a continuous supply of lubricants, the use of glands can be avoided, and this makes the airtight construction of the impeller housing much easier, and in particular, when the magnetic drive shown in FIG. 3 is used.
In contrast to known pumps intended for the laboratory, the described embodiments of the present pump can be referred to as marketable machines; the pump can also be permanently connected to any container or apparatus in which a high vacuum is to be maintained.
