Device for fine adjustment of the angular position of an axis. The object of the present invention is a device for fine adjustment of the angular position of an axis; it is particularly applicable to adjustable devices such as condensers and variometers used in wireless telegraphy, and often requires extremely precise adjustment.
This com device carries an arm secured, by one of its ends, to a clamping collar surrounding, with heavy friction, the axis to be adjusted, the other end of this arm being shaped so as to be able to be moved. by the action of an auxiliary axis, the whole being arranged so that after having carried out a direct approximate adjustment of the position of the axis to be adjusted, it is possible to obtain small angular displacements of said axis by turning the auxiliary axis .
The appended drawing shows schematically, and by way of example, one embodiment of this device; fig. 1 is a plan and FIG. 2 a section through II-II of fig. 1.
The main axis 1 of a capacitor for example, the angular position of which is to be adjusted, is provided with a control knob 2 serving for the rough adjustment; the axis 1 also carries the collar 3, the tightening of which is adjustable using the screw 4, and which is integral with the end of an arm 5. The other end of this arm has the shape of a chette oven with two branches, 6, engaged with an ankle 7 fixed eccentrically on an auxiliary axis 8 carrying an operating button 9.
The tightening of the collar 3 must be adjusted using the screw 4 so that its friction on the axis is sufficient to drag the latter when acting on the arm, but still allow this to be turned by hand. axis to be able to make the rough adjustment using button 2.
To carry out an adjustment using the positive device described, the auxiliary axis being placed in its middle position, that is to say for which its rotation allows a displacement of the arm in both directions, we use first of the control knob 2 by which the angular position of the axis 1 is approximately adjusted; then the adjustment is completed by acting on the auxiliary axis 8. It is understood that it is easy, using this auxiliary axis, to obtain very small displacements of the main axis, since by a rotation of 1840 of l The auxiliary axis only produces a displacement at the end of the arm 5 equal to twice the eccentricity of the ankle 7.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the form shown; the ankle and the arm that it trains could for example have other shapes; the auxiliary axis could act on the arm by other means than by an eccentric pin, for example with the aid of a toothed pinion, the end of. arm then having the shape of a toothed sector.
In certain applications it may be advantageous, to reduce the action of the capacitance of the operator's hand on the device to be adjusted, to electrically isolate the auxiliary axis from the main axis, which is necessary. easily readable, for example in the embodiment shown by making the plug in insulating material.
