Abstract
The invention relates to a handle (10) of an electric teeth cleaning device comprising a coupling element (30) for mechanically coupling a brush (20), a drive (22) for the brush (20) and a control function (18) for the drive (22), said control function (18) comprising an operation locking function (36), which can be activated and deactivated by a release function (38), in particular of the brush (20). The handle (10) has a read function (44) and a coil (46) as a coupling function for the contactless transmission and reading of single or multiple data of the release function (38). The operation locking function (36) is activated or deactivated in accordance with an output signal of the read function (44).
Claims (26)
1. A handle section (10) of an electrical dental cleaning device comprising a coupling device (30) for the mechanical coupling of a brush section (20), a drive mecha-nism (22) for the brush section (20) and a control function (18) for the drive mechanism (22), said control function (18) including an operation inhibiting func-tion (36) that can be activated and deactivated by an enabling function (38) in par-ticular of the brush section (20), characterized in that the handle section (10) in-cludes a reading function (44) and a coil (46) as coupling function for the noncon-tacting transmission and reading of one or more items of data of the enabling function (38), the inhibiting function (36) being activated or deactivated in response to an output signal of the reading function (44).
2. The handle section (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that the reading function (44) and/or coupling function is/are activatable via a switch-on function (56) of the handle section (10), in particular a switch-on function (56) for the drive mechanism (22).
3. The handle section {10) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the read-ing function or coupling function transfers and reads data, provided the brush section (20) is mechanically coupled to the handle section (10).
4. The handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the coupling function operates inductively.
5. The handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the coil (46) is arranged in a portion of the handle section (10) adjacent to the coupling device (30).

The handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the coil (46) has one or several turns that encompass or enclose a longitudinal axis (72) of the handle section (10), preferably an axis of rotation (72) of a drive shaft (16) driven by the drive mechanism (22) in the handle section (10)).
7. The handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the turn area of the coil (46) defines with a rotary or longitu-dinal axis (72) of the handle section (10) an included angle of between 140° and 40°, preferably 90° ~ 10°.
8. The handle section (10) according to the prior-art portion of claim 1 or any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the enabling function (38) is associ-ated with the handle section (10) itself, being in particular fastened in or on a housing (26) of the handle section (10).

The handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the drive mechanism (22) is operable to set a drive shaft (16) in at least one alternating rotary motion about an axis of rotation (72) and/or in a swivel motion about a swivel axis (58) positioned essentially perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
10. The handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the reading function (44) and/or the control function (18) and/or the operation inhibiting function (36) are part of an ASIC and/or micro-controller.

A brush section (20) with a drivable brush head (14) as well as a mating coupling device (31) for coupling mechanically to a handle section (10) comprising a coupling device (30), a drive mechanism (22) and an operation inhibiting function (36) of an electrical toothbrush, with an enabling function (38) associated with the brush section (20) for activating or deactivating the inhibiting function (36), characterized in that the enabling function (38) of the brush section (20) com-prises a data carrier and a coil (48) as a coupling function for the noncontacting transmission of one or more items of data.
12. The brush section (20) according to claim 11, characterized in that the data carrier or the coupling function of the brush section (20) is activatable via a switch-on function (56) preferably of the handle section (10).
13. The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 or 12, characterized in that the data carrier or the coupling function transmits data pro-vided the brush section (20) is mechanically coupled to the handle section (10).
14. The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 to 13, characterized in that the coupling function operates inductively and preferably at a resonant frequency of 13.56 MHz ~ 10%.
15. The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 to 14, characterized in that the coil (48) is arranged in a portion of the mating coupling device (31) or in a portion of the brush section adjacent thereto.
16. The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 or 15, characterized in that the coil (48) has one or several turns which encompass or enclose a longitudinal axis (72) of the brush section (20) or an axis of rotation (72) of a plug-on shaft (62) in the brush section (20).
17. The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 to 16, characterized in that the turn area of the coil (48) defines with a rotary or longitu-dinal axis (72) of the brush section (20) an included angle of between 140° and 40°, preferably 90° ~ 10°.

The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 to 17, with a profiled sleeve (54) and a plug-on shaft (62) received in a tubular shank (40), characterized in that the enabling element (38) or function is arranged on the profiled sleeve (54) or on the shank (40) or is connected therewith.
19. The brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 10 to 18, characterized in that the noncontacting data carrier is constructed as a trans-ponder (42), preferably a passive transponder (42) without its own energy supply.
20. The brush section (20) according to claim 19, characterized in that the trans-ponder (42) has a data memory for digital data, preferably with a storage capacity of between 10° bit and 10 4 bit, approximately.
21. An electrical dental cleaning device with a handle section (10) according to any one of the preceding claims 1 to 10, in combination with a brush section (20) according to any one of the preceding claims 11 to 20.

The dental cleaning device according to claim 21, characterized in that the data transmitted between the brush section (20) and the handle section (10) include, in addition to the data for activating the enabling function (38), further data specifi-cally for the individual brush section (20), for operating parameters for the opera-tion of the brush section (20), or specifically for the individual user.
23. The dental cleaning device according to claim 21 or 22, characterized in that the preferably digital data is subjected to a coding and/or detecting function.
24. The dental cleaning device according to any one of the preceding claims 21 to 23, characterized in that one or more information or data items is/are transmitted from the brush section (20) to the handle section (10) and/or vice versa.
25. The dental cleaning device according to any one of the preceding claims 21 to 24, characterized in that energy is transmitted from the handle section (10) to the brush section (20) to activate the passive transponder (42).
26. The dental cleaning device according to any one of the preceding claims 21 to 25, characterized in that the handle section (10) and the brush section (20) are inductively coupled by means of the coils (46, 48) for the exchange of data or for the transmission of data and/or the transmission of energy.
