Abstract

Selon cette invention, des polypeptides mutants de la .beta.-globine humaine comprennent une séquence d'acides nucléiques de la .beta.-globine humaine normale modifiée (i) par la substitution ou la suppression de Cys dans les positions 93 et 112 et (ii) par la substitution de Cys par un acide aminé non-Cys en une autre position dans le polypeptide, de préférence, par Ser en position 9. L'invention concerne aussi des hémoglobines humaines modifiées contenant ces mutations (ou autres mutations) de la .beta.-globine ainsi que les polymères de ces hémoglobines modifiées. En outre, l'invention concerne des acides nucléiques, des vecteurs et des cellules hôtes modifiées destinées à la fabrication des mutants de la .beta.-globine.
