Abstract
L'invention concerne un spectromètre de masse (40) comprenant plusieurs guides d'ions multipolaires (60, 62) qui se présentent sous la forme d'un ensemble aligné le long d'une même ligne centrale (5), au moins une partie de chaque guide d'ions multipolaire (60, 62) de cet ensemble étant placée dans une zone de vide (72, 73) avec une pression de fond élevée. Ces guides d'ions mutipolaires (60, 62), qui sont placés dans une zone de vide (72, 73) d'une pression de fond élevée, fonctionnent en modes de sélection masse/charge et de fragmentation d'ions. Des ensembles distincts de sources de tension radiofréquence, à courant continu +/-, et à fréquence de résonance en forme d'onde fournissent des potentiels aux tiges de chaque guide d'ions multipolaire, ce qui confère donc des fonctions d'émission d'ions, de piégeage d'ions, de sélection masse-charge, et de fragmentation d'ions, à chaque guide d'ions (60, 62). La présence d'une pression de fond suffisamment élevée pour provoquer des collisions entre les ions et le gaz neutre, le long d'une partie de chaque ensemble linéaire de guides d'ions mutipolaires, permet par ailleurs d'obtenir une fragmentation des ions par dissociation induite par collisions (CID), grâce à l'accélération axiale de ces ions depuis l'un des guides d'ions mutipolaires jusqu'à un guide d'ions adjacent, ce qui est analogue à une triple fonction quadripolaire.
