Abstract

La présente invention a trait à un procédé et à un système de surveillance, utilisés en particulier dans la surveillance de conteneurs (4). Chaque conteneur comporte une connexion radio à des satellites de localisation du type GPS (5), du type Satcom (6), ainsi qu'un équipement de télécommunications en champ proche permettant un transfert de données vers une unité de traitement de données. Ainsi, selon cette invention, plusieurs connexions radio possibles sont prévues entre des équipements individuels de télécommunications en champ proche; il est d'abord vérifié qu'une connexion peut être établie avec le satellite de localisation, et, si tel n'est pas le cas, une tentative d'établissement de radiocommunication avec le satellite de télécommunications est effectuée. Si celle-ci échoue également, une radiocommunication est alors établie avec un autre équipement de télécommunications en champ proche. Les conteneurs peuvent ainsi être surveillés et localisés à tout moment si, pour une raison donnée, une connexion radio est perdue. Si les conteneurs sont placés à des emplacements particulièrement difficiles d'accès, un mode de réalisation de l'invention comporte un équipement de télécommunications en champ proche qui n'est pas placé sur un conteneur, et qui permet de communiquer avec les conteneurs et avec les satellites.
