Abstract

L'invention concerne la localisation et la caractérisation d'un gène (appelé NIM1). Ledit gène est un élément clé de la voie SAR qui, combiné avec des inducteurs chimiques et biologiques, permet d'induire chez des plantes l'expression du gène SAR et une résistance à un large éventail de maladies. Le produit génique NIM1 est un homologue structurel du facteur (sous-classe .alpha. de I?B) de transduction de signal chez le mammifère. On exploite cette découverte de l'invention pour fournir des formes modifiées de NIM1 agissant comme régulateurs négatifs dominants de la voie de transduction du signal de l'immunisation systémique acquise (SAR). Ces formes modifiées de NIM1 confèrent le phénotype opposé comme le mutant nim1 chez les plantes transformées avec les formes modifiées de NIM1, par exemple les plantes transgéniques montrent une expression du gène constitutif SAR et un phénotype d'immunité constitutive (CIM). L'invention concerne aussi des vecteurs de transformation et des procédés de surexpression du gène NIM1 chez des plantes. Les plantes transgéniques ainsi créées présentent une résistance à un large éventail de maladies. L'invention concerne aussi des molécules d'ADN codant des formes modifiées du gène NIM1, des vecteurs d'expression contenant lesdites molécules d'ADN, ainsi que des plantes et cellules de plantes ainsi modifiées. L'invention concerne aussi des vecteurs de transformation et des procédés de surexpression du gène NIM1 chez des plantes. On décrit des vecteurs et des procédés pour induire une surexpression du gène NIM1 chez des plantes. L'invention concerne en outre des procédés pour activer l'immunisation systémique acquise chez des plantes et pour conférer à des plantes un phénotype CIM et une résistance à un large éventail de maladies, par modification des plantes avec des molécules codant des formes modifiées du produit génique NIM1.
