Abstract

Les procédés de l'invention permettent de réduire les émissions toxiques des moteurs Diesel en utilisant une combinaison de dispositifs mécaniques et d'additifs de carburant. Dans un mode de réalisation, on parvient à diminuer les émissions Diesel d'oxyde azoté (No¿x?) et de matières particulaires, en même temps que les gaz d'hydrocarbures et le monoxyde de carbone, en associant le recyclage des gaz d'échappement et la modification du système de distribution à un piège de matières particulaires et une composition de catalyseur métallique du groupe des platines. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, on emploie une composition de catalyseur polymétallique, comprenant l'association d'une composition de catalyseur métallique du groupe des platines et d'au moins une composition auxiliaire de métal catalyseur, notamment le cérium ou le cuivre, pour fournir du métal catalyseur au système d'échappement constitué d'un piège Diesel et pour abaisser le point d'équilibre du piège de matières particulaires (température à laquelle la vitesse de remplissage du piège est égale à la vitesse de régénération) tout en diminuant également les émissions de monoxyde de carbone et d'hydrocarbures non brûlés. Les données destinées aux catalyseurs de platine, de cuivre et de cérium permettent de fixer les doses utiles. Des expériences mettent également en évidence le maintien sélectif de la faible oxydation de SO¿2? en SO¿3?.
