Description

8~56 MAGAZINE FOR ACCUMULATOR LATES

~ Th~ invention relates to a magazine ~or accumulator ; plates with a horizontal conveyor device on which accumulator plates are stacked standing sloping b~ckwards S in the direction of conveyance and are supported at the rear end of the ~tack by means of a plate follower, an unloadinq device ~or the accumulator plates being provided at the front end of the stack.
: In the production of accumulators, the accumulator plates are stored temporarily in a magazine, and supplied individually via the unloading device to the next manufacturing station. When the ac~umulator plates are stacked one behind another, it can happen that the foremost plates slip ox tilt forwards, so that they are no longer in the correct position that is reguired for lifting by the unloading device.
:: A magazine of the type gpecified at the beginning is known from European Patent Specification No. 0,141,806.
Two conveyor helts or conveyor chains arranged one above another, which are provided with resilient drivers, are provided on each side of the magazine to feed the accumulator plates. In addition, upper and lower lateral guide rails are provided, it being possible for the vertical interval from the upper guide rails to the lower guide rails to be varied in order to match different plate sizes. Consequently, in the known embodiment the conveyance or guidance requires four conveyor belts and four guide rails to be provided in a structurally complicated fashion.
~ 30 It is the object o~ the invention to create a : magazine for accumulator plates which, in a simple construction, guarantees that the plates are supported reliably up to the unloading device. Fur~hermore, the magazine is to be easily filled, and to guarantee a precise position of the respective foramost plate. This object is achieved according to the invention with a magazine of the type specified at the beginnin~ in that bristle strips having bristles directed slanting forwards in the direction of conveyance, which engage laterally with the accumulator plates, are arranged on both sides of the conveying device.
The magazine according to the invention has the advantage that it is simple to produce and thus cost e~fective. Because of the slanting bristles, the provision o~ the ~ristle strips prevents slipping or tilting of ~he stack of plates during operation or during refilling of the magazine. Moreover, the bristles support the feeding o~ the stack of plates by executing a horizontal forwards and backwards motion, causing the stack of plates to be carried along during the forwards motion. In addition, because of the slanting arrangement of the bristles, the plates can easily be inserted from behind into the conveying magazine. The bristles also cause a separation of the plates directly at the unloading point, so that a complicated separation device is superfluous.
According to an additional feature o~ the invention, the bristle strips are arranged vertically adjustably, whereby matching to plates of different heights is enabled in an advantageous fashion.
Further details o~ the invention are described 2~ below with reference to the diagrammatic drawing, wherein Fig. l shows a conveying magazine according to the invention, in a side view, and Fig. 2 shows the magazine according to Fig. 1, in a top view.
A conveyor device 1, preferably in the form of parallel endless conveying chains 2 having guide wheels and drive wheel~ 3, is represented in Figs. 1 and 2.
Together with two bristle strips 4, arranged laterally on frame parts that are not reprasented, and a plate follower 5, the conveying chains 2 ~orm a magazine for accumulator plates 6. The accumula~or plates 6 are stacked standing sloping backwards behind one another in the direction of conveyance A on the conveying chain, the rear end of tha ~s~

stack being supported on the plate follower 5, which has a sloping supporting wall.
In the direction of conveyance A, the bristle strips 4 have bristles 7, which are directed slanting ~orwards, grip the accumulator plates 6 laterally, and thereby simultaneously guide them. Arranged at the front end of the stack is an unloading device in the form of a vacuum suction plate 8, which serves to convey the plates onwards to the next manufacturing station, which for reasons of clarity is not represented in Fig. 2.
Within the scope of the invention, the bristle strips 4 can consist of any plastic or metal materials which are compatible with the accumulator plates, preferably polyamide, steel or brass.
It goes without saying that the invention can be modified within the scope of the general concept of the invention.
