método para produzir esclareol. a presente invenção fornece um método de produção de esclareol, método esse compreendendo de contatar um polipeptídeo particular tendo uma atividade de síntese de esclareol com difosfato de labdenediol (lpp). em particular, o referido método pode ser realizado in vitro ou in vivo para produzir esclareol, um composto muito útil nos campos de perfumaria e aromatizante. a presente invenção também fornece a sequência de aminoácido do polipeptídeo usado no método. um ácido nucléico derivado da salvia sclarea e que codifica o polipeptídeo da invenção, um vetor de expressão, contendo o referido ácido nucléico, bem como um organismo ou uma célula hospedeira não-humana transformada para hospedar o mesmo ácido nucléico, também são partes da presente invenção.
