Abstract
Frenagem graduada de trens. Um sistema (10) e um método para controlar automaticamente a frenagem de um trem (38). O método inclui aplicar um primeiro grau de frenagem a um trem durante um primeiro período de tempo e então aplicar um segundo grau de frenagem ao trem durante um segundo período de tempo, a seguir ao primeiro período de tempo, de tal forma que o trem é reduzido de forma efetiva para limitar o pico da taxa de desaceleração experimentada pelo trem. O sistema inclui um sensor (36) fornecendo um sinal indicativo de uma condição operacional de uma locomotiva, o qual requer a frenagem da locomotiva, uma memória (22) armazenando uma agenda de frenagem, e um processador (18) compreendendo uma lógica executável para acessar a agenda de frenagem armazenada na memória em resposta ao sinal de modo a controlar automaticamente a frenagem da locomotiva de acordo com a agenda.
