Um dispositivo de comunicação portátil (10) que inclui um transceptor (12 e 14), um sensor de aceleração (20) acoplado ao transceptor, e um processador (16) acoplado ao sensor de aceleração. O processador é programado para monitorar (32) um perfil de aceleração do dispositivo de comunicação portátil e comparar (48 e 52) o perfil de aceleração do dispositivo de comunicação portátil com pelo menos um perfil de aceleração pré-armazenado (18).
