<B>MéTODO E APARELHO PARA DETERMINAR A PROCEDêNCIA DE UM DISCO PORTADOR DE DADOS<D> O processo de fabricação para um disco portando dados, tal como um CD, começa com a produção de um disco-mestre, e no processo de fabricação física do disco-mestre, são introduzidas variações que fornecem ao disco-mestre características físicas distintas e causam erros nos dados. O disco-mestre é usado para formar gerações de discos, e as características físicas do disco-mestre são passadas adiante para gerações. Um grupo de discos fabricados a partir da mesma fonte exibe consequentemente as características físicas do disco-mestre, e essas características físicas são usadas como uma "impressão digital" para identificar aquela fonte. Para determinar a procedência de um disco portando dados, dados incorretos são lidos a partir do disco. A informação sobre erros é extraída dos dados lidos. A informação de erro é então comparada com informação de erro característica que caracteriza os discos portando dados produzidos a partir de uma fonte bem conhecida para determinar se o disco portando dados foi produzido a partir da fonte conhecida. A informação de erro extraída é representativa de erros que surgem do processo de fabricação física.
