Abstract

Patente de Invenção: "CO-EXPRESSãO DE PROTEìNAS". A presente invenção refere-se a materiais e processos para plantas e tecidos vegetais transformados que são capazes de expressar altos níveis de proteínas estáveis que estão localizadas na forma de corpos protéicos dentro de uma célula vegetal. São divulgadas plantas transformadas co-expressam altos níveis de ambas as proteínas zeínas de 15 kD e de 10 kD que acumulam altos níveis na forma de corpos protéicos no tecido vegetativo da planta. As plantas transformadas que co-expressam as proteínas zeínas de 15 kD e de 10 kD são úteis para fornecer plantações de forragem contendo níveis aumentados de aminoácidos contendo enxofre, tal como a metionina, na dieta de animais que normalmente se alimentam de tais plantações. São também consideradas pela presente invenção as plantas ou os tecidos vegetais transformados que compreendem corpos protéicos estáveis que contêm meterial proteináceo heterólogo. Em uma modalidade, um corpo protéico estável é expresso em uma planta ou tecido vegetal na forma de uma proteína de fusão que compreende uma proteína zeína e uma proteína ou peptídeo ligado de forma operacional. Os corpos protéicos fornecidos na presente invenção são resistentes à digestão no rúmen ou à degradação ambiental.
