Abstract

Las plantas resistentes a un compuesto de control de malezas son producidas por medio de la produccion de un gen codificando una proteína que posee una delas características siguientes (a) hasta (c): (a) posee afinidad específica a una sustancia quetiene relacion con la actividad de control de malezas de uncompuesto de control de malezas, (b) no posee sustancialmente capacidad de modificar una sustancia para la cual dicha proteína posee afinidad específica, (c)es sustancialmente libre en las regiones de estructura de regiones variables en una inmunoglobulina, dentro de una célula de planta, y expresar el gen. Laproteína es quelatasa magnesio derivada del tabaco y puede poseer la secuencia de aminoácidos de: SEQ ID NO: 53, (His Ala Ser TyrSer); SEQ ID NO: 54, (MetGly His Ala Ser Tyr Ser); SEQ ID NO: 55, (Arg Ala Ser Ser Leu); SEQ ID NO: 56, (Met Gly Arg Ala Ser Ser Leu); SEQ ID NO: 57, (Tyr Ala Gly Tyr); SEQ ID NO: 58,(Met Gly Tyr Ala Gly Tyr); SEQ ID NO: 59, (Tyr Ala Gly Phe); SEQ IDNO: 60, (Met Gly Tyr Ala Gly Phe). La proteína se compone de 4 a 100 aminoácidos y lasustancia que tiene relacion con la actividad de control de malezas del compuesto de control de malezas es protoporfirinogeno IX. Un método para proteger unaplantaque comprende aplicar el compuesto de control de malezas a un área de crecimiento de la planta obtenida mediante el método descripto. Un método paraseleccionar una planta que comprende aplicar un compuesto de control de malezas respecto al cual la planta obtenida mediante el método descripto y que esresistente en un área de crecimiento de la planta y de otras plantas, y seleccionar la planta basándose en la diferencia en el crecimiento entre las plantas.El método descripto emplea un compuesto decontrol de malezas el cual es un compuesto herbicida de tipo de protoporfirinogeno IX oxidasa seleccionado de loscompuestos de (1) hasta (3) más adelante,y la sustancia que tiene relacion con la actividad de control de malezas del compuesto de control de malezas escompuesto herbicida de tipo inhibitorio de protoporfirina IX, protoporfirinogeno IX o un protoporfirinogeno IX oxidasa: (1) clormetoxinil, bifenox,
