Trata-se de um método e de uma máquina térmica para a conversão de energia térmica (Q~ externo~) em energia mecânica (W~ externo~), sendo que a máquina térmica compreende um primeiro processo cíclico termodinâmico (processo cíclico a vapor) e um segundo processo cíclico (processo cíclico a gás), sendo que o calor perdido (Q~ D~) do primeiro processo cíclico é fornecido ao segundo processo cíclico e o calor perdido (Q~ G~) do segundo processo cíclico é fornecido ao primeiro processo cíclico.
