Abstract

"SUPERFìCIE DE MOLDE MELHORADA PARA FUNDIçãO CONTìNUA E PROCESSO PARA PRODUçãO DA MESMA". Um método para preparar uma superfície de molde para uma máquina de fundição contínua, inclui etapas de usinagem da superfície do molde para obter uma superfície substancialmente macia, e endurecimento da superfície usinada substancial e completo para prover uma tensão de compressão à superfície. Na configuração preferida, este trabalho de endurecimento é executado através da aplicação de um processo controlado de jato-percursão à superfície do molde. A superfície pode, então, ser polida até a obtenção de um acabamento macio, ou ser revestida com um material tal como níquel ou crómio. A tensão de compressão residual que é criada pelo trabalho de endurecimento impede a formação ou propagação de rachaduras na parede da face do molde. Isto aumenta a vida da face do molde e torna a máquina de fundição mais segura e mais eficiente em sua operação.
