Abstract

<B>APARELHO PARA MEDIR O VALOR DE UM GáS<D> Um medidor (2) de energia compreende uma entrada (48) de gás combustível e uma saída (50) de gás combustível e um tubo (12) central ao longo do qual o gás flui ao deslocar-se a parir da entrada para a saída. Transdutores (52 e 54) de ultra-som e um controle (56) compreendendo dispositivo de computador formam um sistema pelo que a velocidade dos sinais de ultra-som deslocando-se através do gás entre os transdutores pode ser medida e utilizada no controle para calcular a quantidade volumétrica de gás que passou através do medidor. Os sinais de ultra-som passam através das aberturas (33 e 38) nas paredes (24, 26) das câmaras (32, 34) contendo os transdutores. Um outro transdutor (66) de ultra-som na câmara (32) e conectado ao controle (56) atua como um emissor e receptor de sinais de ultra-som refletidos pelos refletores (68 e 70). Esses sinais deslocam-se através do gás combustível na câmara (32) e sua atenuação é observada e medida pelo controle quando eles são recebidos pelo transdutor (66). A atenuação medida é usada pelo controle (56) para derivar o valor calorífero e/ou índice Wobbe do gás, e o controle utiliza a quantidade volumétrica de gás e o valor calorífero e/ou índice Wobbe para derivar a quantidade de energia provida pelo fornecimento do gás.
